I always feel so bad that the only option for starving animals in the encounters is to kill them in passing and I don't feel like it fits for good karma lions, and I feel like it could use another flavor text or option!
Maybe when you encounter a starving animal that has the "end its misery" option, there could be an option to lead them to food or help them, mostly for flavor text + for good karma + beetles, or a few food chunks? Maybe even to lead them to the food pit?

Examples-

"You come across a starving cheetah!"
>End it's misery
>Help it out
-
Sniffing around, you find an abandoned corpse of a (insert animal) being torn into by vultures. You charge forward and let out a bellowing roar, chasing the carrionbirds off, and you come back to lead the starving creature to it. You both declare peace long enough to eat, and you make sure to bring back some of the small leftovers to your clan as well.
[+1/2/3 LB and (food amount) acquired!]

There could also be a "try to hunt" option, where you have a chance to get a carcass that you share with the animal (and get a food idem out of it), or a failure option where you instead get a few leather beetles and some bones! (suggested by Styx!)

Any support or input on encounters or text is appreciated! Thanks!

Hmm... what about when the food pit thing succeeds, the animal is guaranteed to give you 1 beetle as a thank you for helping them, but if you fail, you get a random amount of beetles between 1-3? And if you succeed, you get a higher karma boost than if you failed. Also, for the giving up your own food thing, rather than just giving up one of the small ones, what if the starving animal just took 1-2 uses of a random/your least fresh food?

I'm sorry, but no support. This would change too much the dynamic of the event in my opinion; food is scarce, so we battle those starving animals so they don't eat ours, and with that we unlock both the Carrion Shop and Boneyard along with donating carcasses. There are other encounters that lead to karma choices already, so I don't see the need to change these ones.

^ i understand that logic, but I figured it would be nice to those who have good karma kings to be able to help the animals out, rather than kill them, but that's understandable! thank you for the input!

I always feel awful just skipping past them, but it's not like killing them is good either-
I personally love the idea of being able to actually help the starving animals. Great suggestion <3

I think there could be a โ€œTry and hunt!โ€ button, where you could get a carcass, and have a chance to give a few uses to the starving animal, where you get the rest of the carcass, obviously with fewer uses than if you had gotten the carcass elsewhere; and a chance to fail, but you get some bones/skulls etc.; and another option where you fail, and lose energy but get some SB/Leather Beetles.

Full support, I've always felt so bad for them and I feel like a chance at giving some of them a nudge forwards would be lovely

or maybe giving the animal food could up your hunger (i think thereโ€™s an encounter in dec that does that)

I'm just not going to support this. Sorry if my reason makes no sense. I'd prefer it to maybe an option like 'Offer Carcass' and it takes one from your hoard and it give you karma and leather beetles. Or maybe 'Help Out' and it like.... well... die on the way and give you karma and leather beetles. I honestly don't like the idea of just doing that unless it's unlocked through karma gained.

Omg Yas. I just came across a lion who looked like it would die at any moment and it had the invite to dinner option I chose it but I still feel sad afterward cause of what it said.

"You approach the male and offer him a dinner invitation. He hesitates but ultimately agrees, having gathered some strength from your generosity. He explains that he has a grave to visit and he cannot stay for long. After finishing the meal and leaving you a gift in return, the male departs."

If you think like me then you are thinking that he is on his way to his own grave which is sad as heck. I wish we could save all of them like you said. I'm a big animal lover so I super duper support this idea.
