Selenare

Selenare are a vaguely lagomorphic creature that is actually far-split from Hares, and unable to breed with even the Rabbit or Cottontail Lagomorphs. These creatures are very strange, imbued by the power of the moon; their powers waxing and waning with the phases. Selenare are nocturnal, and are more active on both the Full Moon and the New Moon than on other moon phases.
Selenare are Herbivores; and will eat only plant matter. They can eat roots, fruit, grasses, barks, just about anything that can be found of plants.
There are two main morphs of the Selenare, serving as their sexual dimorphism; the ones with fluffy-rumps and floppy ears, and those with a curled tail and straight ears. A single member of both morphs are required for breeding; each parent will then produce one kit of one morph or the other.
Selenare all have four eyes; the top pair are actually unseeing, and instead seem to hold most of their abilities. Only the bottom-most pair see. Selenare also have chances for mutations when breeding, though rare. Mutations have a chance of occurring about 5% of the time when breeding. Sometimes, Mutated Selenare go up for auction, but only rarely.
Selenare are actually sentient; and communicate by telepathy. These creatures often think of gender in different terms as to other sentient races, though they may decide upon their pronouns themselves since their culture doesn't have the same basis as others. This makes it easier for other individuals (those that communicate via speaking) to refer to them.
Selenare live in nearly all biomes. Thanks to their (abnormal for lagomorphs) paw pads, these creatures are a little less apt to walk across cold snow or hot desert sand, and are more likely to use their strange powers to almost levitate across the land, barely stirring the dust or snow when skimming close to the ground.

-Selenare may be bred, but there must be one parent of each lineart.
-Once bred, there is a 5% chance of mutation of the kit.
-Mutated parents create mutated offspring 50% of the time per mutation; this is calculated separately for each kit and for each mutation.
