I sure could have done with some help after returning from not having computer for 5 years. Trying to find an heir for when my boy retires.. but not sure if stats or base or mut is the best way to go.
Was thinking of using apps for markings.

@Seikan, If I'm being honest, stats don't really make too much of a difference. Of course having a king with 100-300 can be rough - don't get me wrong! But comparing my main king who has roughly 800 to my side king who has nearly 3500, they both play pretty much the same. As a matter of fact, I actually have a harder time on the 3500 boy when it comes to battling but it could just be my crap luck heheh
Cubs from my 3500 stat king usually end up anywhere between 500-800 stats, which is a decent plus. I usually breed him with girls who have around 300-400ish. With how much GB it costs to buy lions with so many stats, I'm not sure I can really call it worth it. But for some reason I keep buying them to stat replace lol

Primal is a pretty good mutation to king because of the pass rates and variations along with ease of access. Piebald/patches are fine too but I find myself easily bored with them because only whatever pattern your king has can pass. It would've been better if there was a little roulette to it - like the ability to get different pies from a certain pattern and another group from a different pattern.
I wouldn't bother too much with aesthetic mutations (foldies, no manes, etc) unless you really like how they look and are okay with the fact that they don't pass down.

A good base can really do you good, especially when you're doing breeding projects to reach a goal! I've had a lot of kings in the past that served no function other than helping me get what I really wanted (ie using a hematite based king to make breeding for celestials easier).
If breeding projects aren't your thing, then try to find a nice looking base you like in a group with others you fancy. Here's the wiki page on genetics! I always find it easiest, personally, to find a lion with good markings and then just use an event base applicator on it to give it some pizzazz (^:

As for markings, my best recommendation is to not use too many of the Oasis main marking applicators. A few are fine to help pretty up the lion but event/gorilla enclave/random marking applicator/etc strive to make your lion extra special

No, this really helps me better understand.
When I got my now king, I thought he was a cute white lion, whose base colours would have no bearing, due to his achromia mutation.
However, after breeding to many lionesses and making just as many not very attractive cubs, I soon realised it was not the case.
I tried putting some markings on him; but that didn't really help.
I would love to try with a nice male I can put markings on that work well with him, and primal always looks great.
Problem is finding markings that are not expensive, or event only that I would have to wait for, and hope I have enough of what is needed to get them.
Of course, there is the GB option.. but being Australian, 50 beetles costs over $35, which adds up.
I had thought perhaps creating a king from scratch, although I would prefer to not go that way if I can help it, because it would cost more in the long run.

Making GB on Lioden without outright paying for it can be a struggle, but it's doable. You just have to be willing to grind a lot and learn the ropes on what works and what doesn't. It's a lot of trial and error, believe me! For the first 2-3 years I played I made the worst spending decisions with my stash of beetles (and I still sometimes do lol)
This month the best advice I can give you is to work very hard to get as many Heart Shells as you can and after you buy the decor you want with it stock up on Buffalo Scrotums. Those things sell like hotcakes for good prices! They won't sell fast or for much right after this event ends but in a few months they should be up to about 20-25 GB. It's a lengthy process but it's well worth the rewards.

I do like browns, reds and blacks.
The primal and achromia both catch my eye, though I am already sporting an achromia king, and I would love his heir to not be the same.
Unfortunately I would need help sex changing the primal though.

I have about 400 HS already from grinding, and I am still waiting to see what will be in the special shops.

@Sei, You sure can! As long as you don't breed her or send her on any hunts when she grows up into an adult and sex change her before she is 3 years old. I actually have a lot of Brimstone base applicators if you'd like one for free.
