I may be spelling it wrong but, I would like for Modbot to have a name. I just personally like some form of authority having a name that I can recognize. Plus I think it would be cool to incorporate LD Lore into the UI.

So here's some names that Modbot can cycle through upon usage:

- Ashkarn
- Menhit
- Apollyon
- Apedemak

OR

- Mabel
- Maurice

Let me know what you think!~

Ideas: During certain events, Main NPCs like Wenet could have a chance at their name being pulled for the modbot's name.

This suggestion has 28 supports and 18 NO supports.

I think it would cause too much confusion if we named it after an already existing NPC.

I think it would be interesting if we named it something unique!

My issue with this is as @Gore mentioned, that most newer players (and some older ones!) aren't familiar with lore or the contents of every month's event, and don't necessarily need/want to be. So for someone who has just joined, or only been around a few months, changing names etc to anything non-obvious makes mods and modbox much less accessible imo.

And newbies are some of the users who most need to be able to use the system and interact with mods without added difficulty, especially since they're likely to be less familiar with rules etc as well. I think it needs to be as unconfusing as possible, even though that isn't as much fun

The real point of this is so that the modbot is less of a robotic feature, it makes it seem more human. Like you're talking with an actual person, since we can't actively see who is or isn't moderating. Just giving the moderator messages a name like a normal account (no account link, of course, because it isn't actually an account) would make interactions with moderators much more comfortable, imo.

Good point Myriad!
Given the update today, finding mods is going to be next to impossible unless looking in the modbox directly. So for them (newbies), joining this new experience might be easier to understand than we assume. I think the change would be most difficult for veterans of the game, whereas newbies would just come to accept that the Bolded Text Named Menhit speaks the law of the land.

If that makes sense I'm glad! But I may have misunderstood what you were trying to say so let me know if I did.

@Typhon I do get that, but to be honest even aside from the potential for new player confusion I think personally I'd actually be a lot more bothered by this than by anon mod replies. Like, I really don't want to get important tickets answered by some NPC name, it wouldn't give me the feeling that it's being taken seriously at all.

That said, I'm not into the rp side of things here, or much general LD lore/storylines either honestly. So maybe I'm unusual in preferring an anon modbot to some kind of NPC name

@Myr

We just think of it as a way to 'humanize' Modbot so that it feels like we arent talking to an automated response, and it'll feel more natural.

Myriad, you misunderstand! The Modbox will remain untouched. This suggestion is only aimed towards the "modbot" or the bolded text nicknamed the modbox in main chat. Mod Tickets and Mod warnings via PM will all remain the same!

Myriad, I get that, and I'm not really behind giving it a name of an NPC for the same reasons, but a general name would be nice instead of a big bolded "MODERATOR MESSAGE", which just seems overly aggressive and indirect (I'm still vehemently for naming it Jerry). I agree that a game NPC name would cause confusion.

It's kinda like the NPCs of Lioden are coming together to help you! Since mods want to stay anonymous anyways, this seems less secretive/weird and makes it fun.

Ah I see - there's been some conflicting comments so I thought you meant it to include all instances of generic mod names, rather than just in chat. I do agree that it can definitely be jarring in chat (though admittedly I am almost never in chat these days tbh).

I'd be much more supportive of a non-confusing but also non-generic name just for bolded mod chat messages, on the same reasoning as Typhon :)

@Myriad @ Typh

Besides JERRY or KAREN, (looking at you typh) what names would you both suggest?
