Due to the change in mechanics for opening the Destroyers and Preservers shops, it's become so much more difficult to open one of them, much less both, as a fairly casual player. I first opened the Destroyers shop, realized there was nothing there that I wanted, and began to work my way towards opening the Preservers shop, only to realize that I had to get 600 points instead of just 300 in order to open it. I made it as far as I could and decided at the end of the month to wait for next year's August event, when the bar would reset and I could start from scratch and only have to get 300 points towards the Preservers shop to open it. And then the next year rolled around and nope, the bar did not reset. So I made what progress I could and couldn't open either shop, and at the end of the event I was irritated as hell over it.

So I feel that it could do with a few fixes. Given that many players do like the new system, and it is definitely nicer to be able to decide which shop to open on an individual level, I would rather suggest a few tweaks than an overhaul back to the old mechanics. Here are some of the options I thought up:

1) Button to 'reset' the bar to 0 points, or when a shop is opened have the bar automatically reset to 0/300 points until the opposing shop is opened (assuming that one shop stays open until the other is opened).

2) After the event ends, the bar is reset to 0 points towards either shop. Next month is a 'clean slate', similarly to how tiers for each event are reset before the event begins again the next year. This already exists, nevermind :)

3) Halve the amount of points needed to open a shop to 150 each, so that switching to a different shop only takes 300 points. Somewhat more manageable this way.

And just as a general suggestion for this month's shops that would be so, so helpful on so many levels:
The currently opened shop will remain open regardless of points gained until enough points are collected to open the opposing shop. At least this way, while switching between shops, one is still accessible. This is probably the most important thing I want added out of this entire post, simply because at least then switching shops wouldn't be a colossal waste of time.

I'm open to suggestions, other options, etc.

This suggestion has 10 supports and 0 NO supports.

I support, but I’ve gotta admit that some of this suggestion feels a little op, like having the previously opened shop stay available and having a button to reset the bar to 0. The button specifically I think should have a paywall of sorts at least, like 1 GB or something like that, if it were to be implemented at all.

Before the mechanics update, both the reset (not the button specifically, but when one shop was opened the bar reset to its initial opening requirement and didn’t double) and the shop staying open were part of the system so I figured that if they were used for years with no issues they’d be fine to bring back; I do see what you mean, though :)

Hey!
I just wanted to clarify on this point:

"2) After the event ends, the bar is reset to 0 points towards either shop. Next month is a 'clean slate', similarly to how tiers for each event are reset before the event begins again the next year."

This is actually how it was originally supposed to function; however, this August, we had forgotten to clear out shop progress before the August event began. Next August's event, everyone will be wiped and start at 0 as intended. :)
