I'm wondering how to decide which pairings I should make for my lions. Right now I'm kinda just using the scrying stone to see possible offspring and picking based on that but my cubs are only OK. I'm also looking to get an honest opinion on the lion I have picked as my heir I will link him. Like do you think he would be desirable to other players and or what could I add to him that won't cost a ton. Also last question how do I figure out pricing? Thank you in advance :)

I'm sorry I actually haven't done much base pairing so I honestly won't be much help with that. I think he Is so pretty! I wish my main was like that! With prices I'll usually just put a link in the main place then ask for a price check but if you don't want to do that you can always look it up in trades!

I’m not a newbie myself, but I only (sorta of) recently got into LD, since about June 2021, though I’ve had my account since 2018.

I’m love to stay subscribed here and help Nerdy out with answering questions if I can!

Maddy, when it comes to pairing lions it’s normally a personal preference but some helpful things are “genetics” which is the color of a lion’s base. You’ll see they say something like “Red Light Coutershaded” or “Red Light Solid” and preferably it’s best to breed bases of the same genetics for a better chance at certain bases. There’s many different types of bases and ways to get them which I could explain more but it’d be quite hard here xD There’s also markings and other features that come into play and I could totally go into depth but that’d be a very long conversation.

About your chosen heir, I’d personally not breed to him because he’s dirty but that’s just my personal preference. As well as his markings only being applicator markings, he’s not as desirable for me but he’s still a very nice looking lad!

The best way to figure out pricing for things is checking the Trading and Branch Sales to see what other players have things priced at <3

I can totally explain that to you for future reference!

Basically there’s 6 types of bases: Applicator, Breed Only, Combo, Custom, Exclusive and NCL.
Applicator bases are applied through applicators available during monthly events.
Breed Only are as implied, they must be bred to get which means breeding to the desired base with another lion (preferably of the same genetics).
Combo are where specific bases must be bred together to get the desired base. You can also breed the desired base to any of the Combo factor bases (bases needed to get the desired base in the first place).
Custom are bases able to be applied with a base changer available in the Oasis.
Exclusive are NCL exclusive bases: Mabola, Maziwa, and Asali which can be bred on to other lions just like any other base.
NCL are as they say, come from NCLs and are able to be passed just like any other base.

There’s 4 colors: Red, Black, Cream, and Golden.
And there are 2 types: Solid and Countershaded.
As well as 3 “opacities” if you want to put it that way: Light, Medium, and Dark.

The best way to learn about many of these things is to look them up on the Wiki which is linked at the top of LD pages next to the logout button. You can always ask other players for advise as there, that’s what the veterans are there for <3 As well as the chats :3

Thank you for your advice Pantrii! I really struggled to find an heir to purchase and the person who said they would help me weren't very helpful in what to look for and when I send him to them they said he was good. So how do I go about finding an at least semi desirable heir, that's clean, has good coloring, and either a rare or special base without spending a lot of currency? Every time I looked in the market I struggled to find any decent-looking lions for heirs.
