Mooi rolled her eyes. "I'll be fine! I'm good at swimming!" She rolled around more, snapping at bugs in the air.

'I know, dear. You're very good. But you still cant go swim without protection.' Spice sat down, staying between her den and the water so she could keep an eye on all her kits at once.

Auream

Auream watched her siblings play, squealing and giggling. She looked down at her webbed paws and pressed them down in the mud. She lifted her paw to see a pawprint left there. A smile formed on her muzzle and she pressed both of her paws in the mud. When she lifted them she found two more pawprints! She giggled, what would happen if her put her face in the mud? Auream face planted into the mud, and mrrowed in happiness. She tried pulling herself out but couldn’t. She squealed in uprising panic until she pulled herself out, falling onto her back. Face full of mud, she didn’t move, shocked.

'Auream-?' Spice's ears pricked, panicked. She quickly walked over to her, picking the kit up by the scruff and setting her down. 'Oh dear- are you ok?'

Mooi looked up, seeing her sister's face covered in mud. "Mud monster!" She squealed in mock fear. "She gon' get me!!" She flipped around in the water, swimming towards the den and running inside.

The otter rolled her eyes, brushing some of the mud off of auream's face with her paw. 'Wash up in the water, dear'

Auream

“Mm k” she mumbled through the mud. She giggled as her sister Mooi was scared of her. She listened to her mother, washing her face and fur off in the water. She only ever waded in the water, never deeper than her paws. Auream wasn’t too fond of water, she was terrified of the huge fish her mother would catch and the large lizards that glided through the water gracefully. “Mama, do you like the water?” she asked, her large hazel eyes wide.

'Well, yes. We're river otters, we're supposed to like water.' Spice licked her paws dry, then padded over to auream to help her wash off.

“I dont like it.” she murmured, “very scary.” Auream shivered looking into the depths of the river. She took a step back, the fur along her spine ruffled. She watched minnows float along endlessly, picking at the algae on the pebbly bottom. Once she was finished washing up she leaped onto the sandy bank hurriedly.

'Oh, dear- thats fine, you don't have to like it. Though I will have to teach you how to hunt when you and your sisters grow up. What would you want to hunt?' Spice hid her worry, not sure how to raise an otter kit who was afraid of water.

“No, I dont wanna learn to hunt in the water…” she mumbled, looking up at her mother. “I wanna learn to climb like Sayha.” her hazel eyes gleamed in the sunlight. She looked at the towering trees overhead, admiring their towering crowns of leaves. “Can you teach me?” she asked, her smile gleaming with happiness.

Spice paused, uncertain. 'Of course. You can hunt birds and other critters. Does that sound good?' She spoke softly, following her daughter's gaze. These trees would be easy to climb, right-? There wasn't a lot of trees thin enough for an otter to climb.. but she didn't want to crush her kit's hopes.

“Yay! Thank you mama! You’re the best mama in the whole world!” She squealed, hugging her mothers chest. She chittered happily, burying her face in her mothers soft fur.
