"Hm, is something the matter, forest cat? You keep walking in circles like a dog chasing its tail." The average-sized, stocky, multicolored she-cat inquired in a faintly monotonous tone that was accompanied by the previous noticeable tranquility.

"Oh, uhm thank you?" Quillpaw blinks, and feels thankful when Flipwing comes over because praise of any sort makes her feel weird - especially when she's pretty sure she's done something wrong. But there's an audience and she can't afford to look like a confused mouse; so she straightens her shoulders - inwardly a bit miffed about being the shortest one here. Ah, the problems of being a 'paw.

She listens as the warriors speak amongst each other, hearing that they'd be going on a patrol. That was fine, even if border patrols are boring - unless something exciting is happening, then it's just stressful. At least she won't have to worry about not screwing up, because she's not sleepy and therefore won't trip and fall headfirst into a burr bush.

“I…I guess I’m just concerned that one of my clanmates might come looking for me. He said he would come to my den after he finished talking with some other cats, and I’m sure by now he’s noticed I’m gone, and I didn’t tell anyone I was leaving so he might be worried.” Shadeflower admitted though in that sentence she left out that Froststar could be angry with her when she went back to camp.

Honeystep | warrior | camp | Foxeye, Quillpaw, Flipwing

The tom stopped in his tracks as Quillpaw, the apprentice they were going to search, ran up to the two. He smiled at the smaller cat and sat back down, turning his head to face Flipwing, who came with news of a patrol on the Eastern Border. Honeystep gave a small greeting to the tom.

"Good day, Flipwing. I wouldn't mind joining your patrol. We were planning on either patrolling or hunting anyways. Lead the way and I'll follow."

He grinned at the other pale cat, before getting up and stretching his legs, ready to patrol their borders together with these other cats.

"Hm, so you’re concerned that your mate will become distressed and search for you? Well, no need to worry; forest cats don’t venture this far into western territory unless guided by an outsider like myself." The multicolored feline responded in a fairly monotonous manner, her voice maintaining a noticeable hushed and tranquil tone and her dull amber and cobalt blue gaze fixated on the she-cat.

Dewleaf | Fernclan Camp | Salmonleap

Heart eyes and butterflies? Dewleaf smiled, she wondered if she really would ever get that one day. The she-cat couldn’t help but feel bad for Salmonleap. Froststar would have of course taken in Storm if he would have wanted to be in the clan. Dewleaf tried to hide her frown, Salmonleap didn’t deserve that. However she had seemed to come to terms with it. The Queens question interrupted Dewleaf’s thoughts and she felt her fur grow hot. “O-oh I’m not sure.” she stuttered, shuffling her paws nervously. “I haven’t really gotten to know any of them too well.” She thought about the question for a moment. She had of course grown up with Flipwing and his brother Fishsnout, she enjoyed their company but hadn’t spent too much time around them. Honeystep seemed like a sweet tom, but she hadn’t gotten to talk with him much either. Nightshade seemed like a kind she-cat as well, she could see enjoying a conversation with her as well. “I’m sure I would get along with them if I tried to talk to them… it’s just so nerve wracking for some reason.” Dewleaf said with a dramatic sigh. “It’s easy when it’s stuff about the clan, hunting, border patrols, but when it comes to a normal conversation it’s like all the thoughts in my head vanish.” The Maine Coon continued, placing her tail gently over her paws. “If only everyone was as easy to talk to as you Salmonleap.”

Badgerpaw | Western Fernclan Territory | Aldergrove

“Okay!” Badgerpaw agreed, he wouldn’t mind digging up toads. It seemed like it would be fun. Badgerpaw followed Aldergrove over to the small stone. He had never thought about flipping stones and wood over to find things. Badgerpaw sat next to the older tom and examined the earth worm. He smiled softly and batted at the worm, eyes dilating in excitement as it squirmed around. He hadn’t sat down and had a little fun in what felt like a long time. After his parents death, he had kept to himself for many moons, too sad to face his clanmates. At this moment, he felt almost normal again. “What else can you find under stones? Those Salamanders?”

Foxeye | Fernclan Camp | Flipwing, Honeystep & Quillpaw

Foxeye nodded in agreement with Honeystep. “Yes, please lead the way Flipwing.” The she-cat said before turning to Quillpaw again. “This will be a perfect chance to get in a little hunting practice as well. There’s a bit of wind today so it will be a nice challenge.”

Froststar | Fernclan Camp | Fishsnout

Froststar nodded, it was reassuring to have such competent cats in the clan. He hoped the group wouldn’t encounter any abnormalities on their route; he had enough for the day. The large tom scanned the camp and huffed to himself, he wished to go out into the territory himself. However the clan couldn’t be without a Leader, Deputy and Medicine Cat. The tom sat down, placing his tail over his paws.”Yes.. Yes of course you’re right.” He agreed, smiling at the younger tom. “I just don’t enjoy the idea of being without a Medicine Cat and Deputy in the camp.”

Her tail twitched as she heard those words ‘her mate’? Froststar? Oh no no no. She felt her fur heat up with embarrassment especially at the thought of Froststar of all cats being her so called mate. He wouldn’t choose a cat like her who would? “Oh no no, you misunderstood Froststar is not my mate.” She stated as she looked towards Freya too embarrassed to admit she wasn’t allowed to have a mate.

She couldn’t decide if she should talk to one of the other cats or not. “Probably not.” She told herself quietly as she looked at Dewleaf and Salmonleap. Her ears twitched as she rested her tail on her paws. Everyone seemed busy or doing something else or talking to someone else.

"I'm always up for a challenge!" Quillpaw lifts her head, appearing far more confident then she felt. She could only hope that she didn't do something ridiculous like miss the prey. The clan could use every prey it could get, messing up would be unacceptable. Or, something like that. It was probably silly to feel so much pressure over prey - it's not like the forest would be running out anytime soon.

She stops her thoughts firmly there, not even wanting to think about the increase in twoleg activities she'd been hearing the older cats murmur about. Nope, everything was fine.
