Biography
Artemis; one of the first trans lions in the Hireath pride. King Seastar stumbled across him while wandering the desert wastes. One look at the primal king's strength was enough to impress Artemis; clearly this was a lion who would care for his pride.
"Young m'am," purred the King, scenting a homeless lioness, "Are you alright out here alone?"
Artemis flinched: 'm'am' and the like had always bothered him.
"I am, Sir," lowering his head, he replied. Submissive was the best way to appear.
"Who are you? And from where do you hail?" This stranger's manner seemed foreign to Artemis; it was quite unlike any lioness he'd met in his time on the plains.
"My name is Artemis, Sir. I'm from... I'm from... Uh..." Why could he not remember where he had come from? He cocked his head in confusion, as though the tilt might shake the information out of his ears. "I... I don't remember where I'm from, Sir."
"Would you do me the pleasure of accompanying me back to my homeland? I'm sure my son would be pleased to meet such an elegant lioness as you." The powerful king gazed down at him, shining eyes filled with softness.
"I... I would, Sir."
The lion smiled kindly. "Do rise then, young miss."
Artemis slowly lifted his head, watching as the king beckoned him to start walking with him. Artemis began to follow, then paused, considering his thoughts. He coughed, politely drawing the other lion's attention. Seastar turned his head, ear leaning forward curiously.
"Is something amiss, young lady?"
"Uh... It's actually young man." He cringed away from the older lion slightly as he spoke, expecting some of the confusion, outrage, and laughter that had followed that statement from the lionesses he'd run across. But there was none. Instead, the king simply stood for a moment, perhaps considering Artemis's lithe frame, soft features, lack of mane and overwhelmingly female scent. His ear twitched.
"Well then, my young sir, I expect my son will be especially thrilled to meet you." A smile skirted across the lion's face, pride dancing briefly through his eyes. "You might talk to Castiel when we arrive: he cultivates some unique amphibians that I expect will be of service to you. Now, let us go; I am sure your new pride-mates will not want to be kept waiting for their new brother."
~
The King had been right. Castiel was immensely kind, instantly identifying with Artemis's current conundrum. His dark wings stretched out, gently fanning his pen of tiny frogs. He'd studied Artemis quickly, taking in his small frame and effeminate features and easily selected the best frog. He'd passed it to Artemis, who stumbled over his own paws, almost dropping the creature.
"Careful. It could take a while to find another one for you." He voice was deep and stoic, but his eyes filled with concern, checking that the younger lion was alright. Once satisfied, he continued, "This frog will deepen your voice and give you an overall more traditionally masculine look. It won't stop you from carrying cubs though, so be careful."
Having been attentively leaned forward, Artemis's ears swivelled back to a more relaxed pose.
"Thank you so much Castiel. This is incredible." After a few more minutes of explanations and thanking, Artemis left Castiel's small grove; the brown lion on the floor had begun to glare at him for getting a little too close to his partner.
~
The frog was absurdly effective. Within a few days Artemis's voice had lowered. His body had begun to bulk out and he noticed his ruff growing out; it seemed his mane would be a similar colour to the rest of his fur. He was growing into a fine young lion, before he'd even met most of the pride. He admired himself in the waterhole, shaking his little mane.
"You must be Artemis." The voice from behind Artemis startled him. His head shot up, trying to twist round to the source of the noise, while his paws tried to jump forward in a slight panic. He fell in the water.
"Hey!" There was another splash beside Artemis and he felt a large body pushing against his own, quickly shoving him onto the red mud. "You should be more careful." said the voice beside him.
Artemis turned to look in it's direction, about to respond angrily, to place the blame on this mysterious stranger for surprising him and having the gall to blame him, but then he realised the other lion was grinning at him. It was a large grin, complete with teeth. Two massive canines hung from his mouth and the muddy water had given his mane an almost unnatural shine.
"I'm Spring," the lion smiled, shaking the moisture from his fur.

When you approach her, him, Artemis greets you and sniffs your muzzle.
