The Tempest River Territory

Surrounding a river that stretched far beyond the horizon were green and lush shrubbery and grasses that covered the majority of what is seen, with drier grasses stretching more toward the savannah. Flowers splash color onto the landscape while acacia trees dot the territory in a surprising amount of abundance.

A herd of zebra graze in the near distance while gazelle move from one side of the river to the other, trying their best to avoid the sneaky predators that lay in wait underneath the water. Vultures either circle above or lay in wait in the acacias or dead trees for an opportunity.

The territory inclined in a few areas, going up a hill and then back down with rocky terrain surrounding it. The hill itself had lots of rocks on it as well as one single acacia tree at the every top. The openness of the territory allowed for a great view from the top of the hill, going as far as the eye could see.

The distant calls of hyenas and wildebeest filled the air, as well as the screeches of birds of prey from above. A light breeze sways the leaves of the nearby trees and pushes the long grasses one way, to another, creating a natural melody of calmness.

The Tempest Tunnels and Caves

Underneath the acacia at the top of the hill lay large holes directly underneath the tree. Outside of the large holes was fresh dirt that clearly had been dug not too long ago. Paw prints of lionesses, cubs, and a few large sets of paw prints from the first leader of the pride and her son dotted the fresh dirt, as well as the general area of the tree and hill.

Smaller holes had all small paw prints while the main hole had a mix of paw prints. Creeping inside the hole, it’s a lot bigger than expected, able to fit a primal, though not without some effort on the primal’s part.

The tunnel gets darker the farther it goes, with a few holes blessing the tunnel with some natural light. Going farther into the tunnel, it starts to narrow. The tunnel’s cool ceiling presses against the body, while the walls got narrower and narrower.

Finally, after the feeling of being constricted, the tunnel widens immensely, leading into a part of a cavern. Heading into the cavern, stalagmites and stalactites jut out from the ceiling and ground with the small echo of dripping water coming from one of them.

Up above, a crevasse spilled natural light into the cavern, which illuminated it well enough. A smell of dampness and the feeling of coolness surrounds everything.

Not too far away, a wall of stalagmites stand. It blocks the way into more parts of the cavern, but with closer inspection a narrow opening is found. Padding through the cavern, there were nests of mosses, leaves, and feathers.

Even more tunnels are near the nests and going through those leads to an actual cave. Nests line the far right side of the cave, while many skulls, carcasses, and feathers were in a pile to the left. The opening is large and spits out at a different rocky area more toward the savannah part of the territory.

Tempest River (and Rainset Hills) Lore

After wandering from the start of their adolescence to early adulthood, very far from their original jungle pride, Emberflame, padded over a rocky hill with a steep incline.

After making it over the bend, the lion was transfixed with the beauty of the area with the rising sun being a backdrop. From there, they followed a great rushing river until the, then young, Emberflame found herself an open territory, which connected to the river and savannah through rocky and hilly terrain. Though not blessed by the ancestors with -star and more lives, she took the leader role and they have ruled with an even-manner since.

Years later, a rival leader with a small pride created a territory next to theirs. In hopes of gaining more lionesses, the opposing leader challenges Emberflame though she is able to drive him out of their territory and back to his. With the help of their heir, the two take the opposing pride over and instead of ruling over the Tempest River Pride, their daughter rules over the new Rainset Hills Pride. She is blessed by the ancestors and is now Hyenastar.
