The Makai Pride:
Once a part of a much larger African community, the Makai Pride is now the last of its kind. The ancient Makai Warriors were gifted with the power of fire. It was theirs to control and command as they wished, but they were also bound to it and were forced to bend to the will of the flames. Their powers owned them just as much as they owned their powers and many a warrior was lost to it during their many training sessions to try and find a balance.
Now, the only ones left with this rare gift are the leaders of the Makai Pride... and even now it is rare to find a leader with the power of fire. However one lion stood out from the others one year, a lion as golden as the flames themselves. Born in the midst of a terrible, lightning caused bushfire, he was the only cub to survive out of his pride. Before her death, the cub's mother uttered a single word. A name; Moto.
However, the scarred and still blind Moto was taken from his homeland by humans. And it was by humans that he was raised and sold to a travelling Italian circus. There he was given the name Luigi and there he was forced to do the humans' will. But each night he would dream of flames and a past that he did not understand.
Finally his dream came true. The circus sold him to an African Wildlife Worker who released him back into his native territory. And from there he realised what his past was and why he was spared from the fire. It was his destiny to rekindle the flame of the Makai Warriors.
And the lion known as Luigi did just that. With the help of three other descendants of the ancient Makai Warriors - Airika, Malkia and Sundri - Luigi began scouring the land for the ruins of the once great civilisation. Their search took years and Airika gave birth to another son of fire, but finally the ruins were found. It was then, with seventeen lionesses in tow, that Luigi finally claimed his territory and chose to raise Airika's cub, Korran, as his own.
And it is here, in these ruins of old, that the Makai Pride stands strong and proud, continuing the legacy which their forefather had created.
