Crow Spirit's Pride

Long before the era of the prides, when the Gods had yet to acknowledge their subjects, a miraculous event unfolded. A fierce heatwave engulfed the lands, sparking a devastating drought that nearly led to mass extinction. Creatures of all kinds faced the same grim fate, while the relentless heat continued to intensify, threatening to erase all life.

It is said to have occurred in an instant, like magic. Those who lived to tell the story spoke of miracles and divine intervention, of saviors. A massive black bird, its wings resembling those of a crow, enveloped the earth, cradling it in a gentle embrace. It soothed the land, calming the fury and devastation that had ravaged its roots, easing the burden of death. Then, without warning, a brilliant flash of white illuminated the sky, an indescribable brilliance that no words could capture. A high-pitched ringing resonated through valleys, trenches, and canyons. The searing heat began to dissipate. The land revived. Greenery blossomed once more. Water flowed. Life returned. Deserts, once cracked and barren, transformed into lush savannas, sprawling grasslands that led to cascading waterfalls and rushing rivers.

The earth had been spared, its creatures restored to life and granted back their homes. They owed their salvation to none other than the enigmatic crow deity, who had revealed itself with divine power to rescue the planet from a fiery end. This miraculous act led many species to embrace a newfound faith, with some dedicating their lives to serving the crow God, hoping to receive blessings in the afterlife as they had in this one. Among them, the lions became perhaps the most devoted, honoring their crow deity with unwavering reverence.
In the present day, each lion of the crow spirit's pride is paired with a crow companion, a partnership forged to aid in hunting, fighting, and gathering resources. The bond between a lion and its crow is a cherished and lasting one, with lions typically keeping their bonded crows from adolescence until death. Within the pride, the Ubawa is a lion or lioness blessed with a deeper spiritual connection to the crow deity. The pride looks to the Ubawa to guide the ritual of assigning crows to the young lions during their bonding ceremony, solidifying this sacred partnership.
