This is completely in character. Please go HERE to sign up and chat about the thread and everything. A list of the store and descriptions of them will also be located here on the second post. The idea for this RP was inspired by the amazing books No Safety in Numbers and Monument 14. The name Quarantine is temporary, I'm open to suggestions. Please read everything, all is relevant and all is important. You went to the mall. That was a mistake. Maybe it was just to hang out with some friends, just to shop, or maybe just because you were bored. But whatever reason you came, it wasn't worth it. Because now, your life is in danger. This afternoon, at 12:34 pm, a bomb was found attached to an air duct. And unfortunately, it wasn't the type of bomb that explodes. It was so much worse than that. It pumped some kind of disease into the mall. Due to a mistake, rather than being evacuated, the mall was quarantined. Now the exposure time has been too long, and no one will be allowed to leave until someone is able to figure out what the disease is, and how to treat it. A government official (the governor) was in the mall before the quarantine and will be helping to get the situation to go by as smoothly as possible. We are starting at around 1:00 pm mall time, at the start of the quarantine, and your character does not really know anything yet about the disease or why the mall is even on lock down. A new edit will happen every time the governor makes an announcement. Which will happen at least once a day in mall time. The disease works according to blood type. With each blood type comes a different symptom. So choose carefully. It may affect people differently, but it is one disease. Be careful, because anyone who has it is highly contagious. Regardless of weather you are the same blood type or not, anyone can infect you. This original post will be edited as time goes on, because of the disease progressing. Just some new rules and edits, please keep up with them. Message me with questions or things that don't make sense, I will explain and/or correct whatever it is. The Governor The Speakers inside the mall crackled to life. "Attention shoppers. We have an important announcement to make. There is a situation in the parking garage. Nothing to worry about, but due to the nature of this situation we are temporarily placing the mall under lock-down while it undergoes further investigation. Abbey and Lynne looked to one another confused, they paused their shopping and listened in to the voice before it went off, and they still didn't go back to shopping. Abbey Abbey looked to her twin Lynne a confused look on her face "I hope its nothing serious. I like the mall and all but not entirely being locked inside of one." Lynne Lynne nodded her head in agreement "I won't mind it but eventually I would. They did say temporarily which is good." S t a r d u s t & L u n a r : She really didn't want to come here. Not one bit. Star sighed and shifted uncomfortably as people passed by her. It seemed she was stuck in the world's most uncomfortable bench, toying with her long purple hair that fell out from under her cat-eared hoodie as her brother stuck himself in the changing room, trying on what seemed to be the hundredth outfit since they've arrived. It wasn't anything or anyone specific she was uncomfortable with, but Star wasn't exactly all that good with people in the real world. However, Lunar was often away at his own apartment now and busy with college classes so she didn't see him as much. And now that she'd soon have to go off to a college as well, despite not having any idea what to go for, Star knew any time she could spend with her beloved sibling was important. However, coming to the mall where there was a bunch of people wasn't exactly her idea. She rolled her dark blue eyes as recent memories from just about an hour ago played through her mind. "Oh Star~!" her brother called, barging into the living room, clearly ready to head out somewhere. "What are you up to?" he asked, settling on the couch where she sat with her laptop settled on her lap, playing a simple browser-based game with her friend. "Not much." she shrugged. Turning her gaze away from the screen her darker eyes met her brother's lighter ones and she raised an eyebrow. "Going somewhere?" she asked. Lunar nodded with a grin. "Yes! You and I are heading out today. Go! Get dressed!" he said, closing her laptop and taking it from her. Star pouted. "Lunar. No." she grumbled. "I'm comfy here." But sure enough, Lunar still managed to get her to head to her room and she dressed herself in a comfortable pair of black jeans, a purple, iron man tank top, and her black cat-eared hoodie. Finishing the look with her black combat boots, Star grumbled to herself about being forced by guilt into going before heading out to meet her sibling at the car. And of course now they were here. With another sigh, Star began searching her mp3 player for another song to listen to when she heard the speakers cackle to life. Her eyes widened in surprise as an immediate fear raced through her veins. She'd seen movies like this. Taking a deep breath, she reminded herself that this was real life and those were just movies. Still, she couldn't help but immediately worry about it. "Hey Lunar..." she called to her sibling. "Did you hear that?" ---------- Lunar knew he'd more or less made his sister feel guilty enough to be 'forcefully dragged along willingly' as she had told him in the car. But he worried for her and her inability to really be a good, social person. He never had too many problems getting along with people, having always made friends rather easily. But his sister on the other hand...she didn't. As her social skills seemed to decline more as she grew older, this worried him more. As Lunar left to start his more grown-up independent life, he never did anything against the law. He worked hard, got a job, went to school for his art and occasionally checked in at home. Well, if by occasionally you mean every day. But as much as he enjoyed a normal life, he still wanted that for his sister. She spent way to much time on the internet. After consulting his closes friend, Mark had given him the idea to take her out more so she'd get use to people in the real world and maybe make another friend. Which is the whole reason they were here now. Holding a shirt or two up, Lunar discarded the ones he knew wouldn't look good and chose a simple, blue shirt to go with the rest of the outfit. Before he could go out though, he heard the announcement and shortly after, the soft voice of his sister. Coming out of the changing room the older male nodded. "I heard Star, there's nothing to worry about. Relax. Now, tell me how amazing I look!" he told her, striking some ridiculous pose. Star rolled her eyes but still gave a small smile. "It needs more black...or purple." she told him firmly, her opinion made. "Any more black and I'll look like a bruise." Lunar replied with a chuckle, but he headed back into the changing room and got back into his normal outfit. A simple Metallica band t-shirt, blue jeans, and old, worn black sneakers. Nothing too good, but nice enough to go out in. Getting what he wanted, Lunar paid for the items and headed to settle beside Star to wait. "Can we find a place to get my peppermints yet?" she asked. "I'll die without them!" "I guess we can as soon as we can leave." Lunar said with a mock sigh. "I thought it'd be more fun to find you a pretty sun dress or something though." Star rolled her eyes. "I'd never be caught dead in a dress, you know that." she replied, glancing around a bit anxiously. That announcement still made her uneasy, no matter how 'temporary' it was. Rose nervously looked around. "Mom?" She called, and hurried around. She had just been looking at a necklace for a while, and suddenly her mother was gone. Justin and Destiny Walking through the mall, the two had just entered the candy shop. Jumping around happily, Destiny picked out 4 different kinds of chocolates, a pound of each. Justin sighed thinking to himself, It was not a good idea to get whatever she wanted. Do I learn anything? rolling his eyes, the teen turned. "Alright!" He said firmly, "Thats enough candy!" He stopped her hand and pulled her to the counter, paying the $15 it costed for the candy. "Your going to get diabetes." He groaned to his sister, just as the intercom came on. Listening he grabbed her arm again and pulled her to the back of the store forcefully shoving her to the ground and handing her a bag of the chocolate, sinking to the ground beside her. Destiny rubbed her arm, "That really hurt!" She groaned before taking the chocolate and ignoring his past comment thinking over what the person had said earlier. "What?? Lock-Down!! Takashi "Man, Takashi. You can be so boring, you know that, right?" Ian said, casting his eyes down a smidgen so he could meet his eyes. "I'm sure you'd rather watch bacteria in a Petri dish rather than enjoying life, having fun." Ian said. Takashi wasn't sure if he was being serious or sarcastic. It was hard telling with Ian. "I'm observing life in a small form. Besides, the process of binary fission is rather interesting to me." Talashi noted. Ian pushed up his wide rimmed glasses. "Only you would say that, Taka." he said, looking over at his friend with a good natured smile. "Only you would would rather waste your life playing video games, killing your brain cells." he said. "Whatever. At least it's fun. I wouldn't care if I was dumb. All I need are two thumbs to play video games with." he said. Takashi didn't reply and followed after Ian into the video game store. He could see Ian's eyes grow large as he entered the store filled with plastic cases, each with a disc in them. There were cardboard displays and TV monitors advertising a new video game or console. It boggled Takashi how people could enjo this so much. Sure, it might be fun to play a game once in a while, he wasn't opposed to it himself. But those who played games as a living, he wondered how they managed. I'm surrounded by true geeks in here. he thought. He felt he stuck out like a sore thumb. He wasn't dressed very formally. Ian had joked to him that he had to "leave the lab coat at home." Studying was a part of Takashi's life and he enjoyed it while most loathed it. His give had a nice structure to it and it he liked it that way. Always knowing what to expect. He was well aware that once he found a job, he would have to get used to irregular hours in case of being called onto the job at the early hours of the morning for any emergencies that might arise. "Takashi, you coming, dude? You look a little lost." Ian said. "I'm alright. You know what, I'll catch up with you in a little. Might get something to eat." he said, trying to get out of being stuck in the video game store for too long. "Try not to get too lost. I already know you're prone to getting lost. Lemme know if you see any cute girls, okay?" he asked. "No promises." he said as he turned to leave. Ian thought Takashi was a little weird. Taka wasn't always looking for dateable girls. It wasn't what he really cared about. After he completed vet school and got himself settled, he would look for a woman. It was not a top priority right now. Besides, not many girls really noticed him. He was dressed like any other guy- jeans and a T-shirt, nothing impressive. Ian had told him to dress comfortably ans he did so. All of a sudden, the spealers crackled to life and the voice on the other end stated there was a situation going on in the parking garage and the mall had been out under lock down. He didn't panic at all, didn't even flinch at the sudden sound. It wouldn't last all the long, he was sure. In an hour or two, they would probably have it figured out. In the meantime, he'd just have to find something to occupy himself, because he couldn't exactly march right out the doors whenever he pleased. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Charlie Charlie stood in the video game store, checking out some of the latest games. He didn't have enough money to get more than one, so he had to choose carefully. The speakers buzzed to life. A woman's voice said something about a lock down. Oh well, he didn't have any plans for today anyway. He walked over to the Xbox demo to try out some games. Drew Drew was standing in the aisle, thinking about the announcement, wondering what the situation was. Rose slowed to a walk as she went around the store, feeling alone and scared. She kept looking for her mother, re-tracing her steps. Eventually she stopped, and stepped out of the way of people going by. She waited by a clothing store, hoping her mother would find her. She stayed in that spot for a few minutes, waiting. Eventually she decided that her mother would come back soon, and she wouldn't be left there. She calmed herself down and went into the nearest video game store, looking for the video game her brother had wanted. She browsed the games, feeling nervous on the inside. I hope I'll see mom again. What was that video game he asked us to get again? She stopped at the one that he had asked for. But which one did he want? The first game, the second game, the third one, or the legendary edition? Marco Marco stood in the GameStop store, using one of the computers. His mom said he should do something so he had come here. She thought he was visiting a friends house. His friend Parker wasn't at home so he came to the mall instead. Of course I came today, during a lockdown. He thought. His mother might find out if this didn't end soon. The Governor She stood in the parking garage with the police. The police were interrogating the girl who had found it, it was possible that she had placed it herself. God, how could anyone do this to innocent people? Then came the question again; what was it they had done? She had been trying to figure it out for the near hour she had been down here, but no one knew anything. The device had self-destructed when they tried to get it off the air vents. That very much made her doubt it was anything meant to be explosive, the blast didn't destroy anything but the device, which she assumed is what it was designed for. But then what was the device? It had been attached to the air vents. It had to have pumped something into the mall. There was no other explanation for its placement. What had they done? 0 players like this post! Like? |

Abbey and Lynne couldn't bring themselves to buy anything because the lockdown had them rattled, that, and they didn't want to carry the bags around forever because they wasn't sure when the lockdown would end so they figured, if they could, to come back and get the clothes they wanted once the lockdown ended. Rose walked over to the register guy, and put the first game on the counter. She pulled out the money her mother had given her, and put it on the counter. "I'm sorry, but this game is rated M, so you have to be older than 17 to buy it." The guy said, looking at the game. Rose sighed and put the game back. Charlie grinned. He was crushing Drew in a the game. He forgot the name, it was some shooter game death match or something. Drew was camping, and Charlie would snipe him from a different place every time, and had over 40 kills right now. His personal best was 63. They hadn't planned on staying in the mall for this long, but this totally made up for it. Drew was getting bored. He just couldn't win playing against Charlie, who lived and breathed games like this. After the match was over Charlie put his arms up in victory. "67! It's a new record! High score!" "Charlie. Charlie. Will you shut up for five seconds?!" Drew growled, annoyed. "Yeah, yeah," Charlie grumbled. "What is it this time? Congratulating me on how incredibly awesome I am perhaps? You hungry? We should go get something to eat." Drew groaned. "We can't leave, the an movement said not to leave the store we're in." Charlie snorted. "You're actually going to listen to that. Takashi As soon as his friend Ian heard the news, he quickly placed the game hole was looking at back in its respective place. He had just heard the message that people were supposed to stay within the store they were in. Takashi. He thought. "He's probably walking down to the food court still. Stubborn guy. He can be such a downer at times. Ian pushed up his glasses which were sliding down his nose. He swiftly left the store, walking at a brisk pace to try and find Takashi. He was only a little ways a way, walking at a rather casual pace. Ian tapped his shoulder from behind. "Yo. Taka. We gotta go back to the store. I'm sure you heard the announcement over those old speakers." he said. "Yeah. I heard it. Just give me a few minutes." Takashi replied. "Pft. A few minutes to you is likely to turn into a few hours, come on. There could be some kind of killer loose and you walking around all willy nilly is going to make you the first victim." He said, giving a snorting laugh at his own joke. Takashi gave his eyes a little roll and followed after Ian. "Everyone's clearing out. Except for those two." Ian said, pointing at a pair of boys who looked similar in age. If Takashi had been alone, he probably would've looked at the boys and walked on, not really caring what they did. But Ian had to take it upon himself to approach. "Hey. What are you kids doing out here?" Ian asked. "Heard the announcement, right? Stay in the store."
