My biggest word of advice to everyone is never compare your art to other artists' negatively. You have your own style, they have theirs. Don't be so hard on yourself; I hurt myself a long time ago by telling myself that my sketchy style was no where near as good as those who were amazingly realistic, and nearly ended my art career because of it. Now I'm super proud of how I'm progressing. Regardless of your "talent" or "skill level", be proud of what you make, even if you'll cringe at it later.</sub>

Tumblr seems to love the "sketchy WIPs" that aren't finished because they seem to convey more emotion and look loose, which is just more appealing to the eye, from what I've noticed. Sketchy styles can be more aesthetically pleasing, and most fandom-art-funnies are done in a sketchy style, from what I've seen. I've been told by a friend of mine who does BEAUTIFUL realistic coloring (I'm looking at you Tygar) that they like (and I can't quote word for word, it was awhile ago) the movement of my art. That a) made me super-blush and b) really made me feel good about myself. (Ty is the art senpai for me.) Fully lined things are a lot more complicated and I can't manage it most times because I HATE lining things, and I have a hard time painting things "realistically" and prefer my own coloring style to anything else; I have mad respect for other artists. I have mad respect for those who do realistic art, but it's simply not me.

That last part is so true. Do not think that since your art is not realistic that your art isn't high quality. Don't let yourself get bogged down by others who say it's not. Whether folks like your art or not is just a matter of opinion; so long as you like it, it's whatever you think it is, good or bad. It's a terrible term to use, definitely. Don't get discouraged, guys! Let your skills progress!! It may take you time to realize what I- and many others- have, but please have faith in your skills. Don't be too hard on yourselves.


EDIT::: There is no "best" drawing style. There's not a truly proper way to draw, despite what some may have learned; you do what works for you. Everyone has their own way of creating things, let them do it! The outcomes are endless; don't hate on anyone else's style because it's not like yours, and vice-versa.</sub>
