I still love the first shade the best. ^^ Subtle enough to be pretty but still definitely purple. The other gem bases are all pretty subtle too so I don't think the vivid purple one matches that.

The random shade would be cool but I feel like hoping for it might be too ambitious, but hope doesn't have to be realistic. I made the different shades to give different people who didn't quite feel the other versions a chance to see the base how they and maybe others who share the same opinion think it could be improved. Whatever version, if any that Xylax and the mod team take from this I'd be happy with. (Although version 1 is my favorite)

I like 1 and 4, but it looks more of a marking than an actual base. maybe shade the rest a little bit of a darker or grey hue, going down into the white?

I've mentioned before that the stark white was actually intentional as to mimic an amethyst geode, when cut open you can see the purple clusters inside and white ring around that where it meets the rocky outside.

As per my personal rule, I'm willing to give most suggestions on a base I've put forth an edit because if it's accepted it's not just for me but for others as well.
Was something like this what you had in mind?
