She can be mean, rude, and often does have a smart mouth. Jo doesn't believe in giving second chances because obviously they weren't even good enough for the first. Jo is a fighter and doesn't mind doing the impossible to get what she wants. But if she allows you to get to know, there is a whole world left to be discovered.

Jo put her phone down beside her, as a frown came to her face. Her mother had just given her an update about their situation. It was getting worse and worse by the minute, and it just frustrated Jo. She wanted to do so much to help, and she was trying so hard. For the last few months, Jo was saving up all she could from her job as a coffee shop worker. But it just wasn't enough, and they were running out of time. One more month. That was all the time they had left. And then it was gone. The house that had been in her family for centuries.

Her phone began to vibrate against the table, and Jo sighed before answering it, not even bothering to look at the caller ID. She answered and was surprised to hear her best friend's, Caitlyn's, voice. They did greetings before Caitlyn began to explain a solution that she thought was good for Jo's problem. Marrying her billionaire brother.

Jo had known Caitlyn's brother, Alec, for the longest. And they had never gotten along too well. He had always teased her, and she would always end up yelling or crying. But once she'd hit high school, Jo hadn't seen a whole bunch of Alec. She hadn't seen him in years.

Before Jo could argue and say that was a terrible idea, Caitlyn told her that Alex was on his way up to her apartment at the moment and would Ben their shortly. Jo sighed before hanging up to await her visitor.

While waiting on Alec's arrival, Jo decided to quickly clean herself up. After all, this could be her 'future husband' she was talking about. She wanted to look nice. To make him want to marry her. To have her on his arm even if it weren't real.

Jo went to her bathroom, looking at herself in the mirror. When she was younger, Jo had been kind of awkward looking. Her limbs had been too long for her body. She had been too short. Her hair had been too short, barely having come past her ears. Her dark blue eyes had been too large and wide for her petite face. Freckles covered her from head to toe. That meant Jo hadn't really been thought of as pretty when she was younger. But that was far from the case now. She had smooth, creamy, freckles skin. And she'd gotten taller, fitting her limbs perfectly, even developing curves. Her face had grown out but was skinny and not fat, almost like the shape of a diamond or heart. Her eyes had gotten darker, and now it was like looking into the bottom of the ocean. And her hair had gotten longer and wavy, framing her face perfectly. And Jo knew that now she was beautiful.

It would be the first time Alec would be seeing her after her remarkable transformation. Briefly she wondered what he would think before she brushed her hair and put on a matching silky pajama short. It was a long sleeve shirt with a pair of shorts that barely came mid thigh. Then she heard the knock on the door.

Jo went to answer her door, hoping he would be able to solve her problems because it he couldn't, nobody could. And she would do anything to get their house back including marrying Alec. Jo opened the door and was surprised by who she saw.

Alec had changed too. He had gotten taller, his eyes lighter. He had gotten a hair cut and his chin was chiseled with little sprouts or hair. And not to mention his ripped physique filled with muscles making it obvious that he worked out. Jo snapped out of it before she widened her door, allowing him in. "Hello Alec," she greeted before closing the door behind him. "You've grown in the years I haven't seen you."

"No." Jo shook her head. She was beyond gracious for Caitlyn and Alec for giving her a solution to her problem, but both her and Alec were getting what they needed out of this relationship, nothing more and nothing less. She needed the hundred grand to save her family home, and Alec was getting the wife he needed to inherit his uncles job and money. Basically there was something the both of them wanted, and they were using each other to get to that said thing. And if marriage was the only way than so be it.

"I don't expect for either of us to put more into this....... marriage than that is needed," Jo states before taking a moment to run her hands through her thick, dark hair. "We are just using each other to get what we need, and that is what it is. But this needs to be real. Or at least as real as it an Be, so only us and Caitlyn should know the truth. So as of now, we are to be engaged and planning a wedding. No suspicion needs to be made by our families and after the year is up, all that is needed is a simple divorce, nothing complicated."

Jo sat in the chair across from Alec before crossing one of her legs over the older and knotting her hands together on the marble. "And there should be rules." Jo wasn't the same girl she used to be. She used to be shy and avoided confrontation, but not the Jo now. She looked Alec in the eye and was quite straightforward. "We shouldn't see other people while we are in this marriage. It will surely rise suspicion that should be avoided. And I think we should live together as well, it will make in more real." That was all Jo required. "Would you like to add anything?"

Jo fidgeted in her seat for a second before she held her chin up at Alec. "Of course not. We don't need to show our affection in public lest we are with family and one of us thinks that it would be appropriate." And then she began to think about his words of her moving into his place, and a frown formed on her face. "Why do we have to move into your place?" She asks before gesturing towards her own apartment. "There's nothing wrong with where I live."

But the more she thought about it, the more Jo knew that his place would be bigger and less questions would be asked if she moved in with him. She sighed in defeat. "Fine but I'm keeping this place since I will be moving back soon enough." And Jo cocked her head to the side at his proposition of date night every Wednesday. "I don't see the reason for a date night if we aren't an actual couple, and I think it would just make it weird for us," Jo states before shrugging. "But it would make it more real, Andy if those are your requirements than so be it. I accept. When does all of this begin?"

Jo watched Alec. His casual and simple yet graceful movements. He had long legs, yet they weren't there too long. He was a very handsome man, and Jo could just imagine how many women threw themselves at him. Heck she had been one of them, once upon a time though it had been way before Alec had transformed into the man she was looking at now. Back then, he had been skinnier, scrawny almost. A bit shorter, and he'd had more bangs. He had been cute but nothing compared to who he was now.

Clearing her throat, Jo looked away before running a hand through her hair and staring at the wall ahead of her. She shook her head, cocking an eyebrow. "I'm not going to do that," she tells him. Jo was a very stubborn person and although every once in a while She may cave in here and there, nine times outnumber of ten she wouldn win. "I'm not selling this apartment. I love it. And I'm going to need a place to go after our divorce."

Then her eyes widened before she stared at Alec. "And you do have a guest room, correct?" She asks. "Because we can't sleep in the same bed. That will lead to other things that would complicate this marriage. Complications that we don't need." Jo had her fair shares of one night stands but she couldn't do that with him. Not when they would be living together for a year.

Jo studied Alec, hating the fact that she couldnt figure him out like she could other people. She couldn't tell if he was teasing her or flirting with her, if he really wanted her to or not, and that drove her insane. Did she want to sleep with him? Jo scoffed. Of course she did. He was hot. What woman didn't want to? They would be crazy if they could resist, but Jo knew she couldn't let that happen. It would change everything in their relationship and complicate things which would make them messy, and the last thing Jo wanted was messy. "As tempting as you are, Alec, I think you will be really getting to know your pillow over the course of this year." She snorts.

"Funny how your apartment is so big but doesn't have a guest room. Even my apartments does." Jo raised an eyebrow at Alec before shrugging. Jo knew that everything was about to change. Before she could say another word, her phone rang. She paused before answering. It was her mother, who had learned from Caitlyn that Jo was engaged and wanted to meet the guy right away. Jo hung up, sighing. "She wants to see you again," Jo states, putting her phone down. "My mother. She says she has always rooted for us."
