I personally love that it looks like it came from the front of a cereal box. It's been one of the few constants since I joined and I would be sad to see it go.

I personally don't care either way if it is changed, but why it matters to some people is that from a marketing standpoint your logo is your brand. A lot of brands need to define themselves from their competition and be distinguishable by both their facets and typeface. Things on the Lioden logo itself read to me like a tiger because of the particular colors chosen to create it. It's not a bad logo by any means, but it also doesn't match the site art style or have anything about it that indicates that the game is about lions.
But I'm a marketing student so I tend to scrutinize these things more than normal people. :P

The dark "tiger stripes" are claw marks though. And the logo says Lioden as in Lion. I mean, now that you've explained it I can see why you think it could be better, but its also no easy task to come up with a good logo. It's like trying to get Pewdiepie to change his brofist logo even though he rarely does it anymore.
Sure it may not completely match with everything, but everyone already knows what they're looking at when they see the logo and they associate it with this site.
Honestly I say the OP should ask Xylax personally what he thinks about the logo and if he'd bother changing it because of this suggestion if it got supports.

I see where you're coming from, but I don't mind the logo the way it is. I guess I feel like it's not a top priority, at least not at the moment. Then again if the admins see it as a priority then I'd be fine with it. For the time being no support, but I can see this possibly being of interest at a later date.

Well the difference with Pewdiepie's brofist logo is that it's a recognizable icon and some other examples of this is Adidas, Starbucks, Pepsi, etc. But also remember that all of these brands have multiple and changed logos... sometimes minor changes, sometimes major ones!
Another good practice is a distinguishable typefaces which are also recognizable if you were to make your own font out of it... such Goosebumps, Disney, Star Wars, etc, etc.

How logos are made is that an employer will ask their artist to make multiple different images based on the employer's ideas. The employer will then pick the one they like out of the bunch and then the sketches are finished.

My own personal opinion is that although it might be obvious to people who have context to the site already, I still don't see how the logo represents lions. The claw marks can be easily confused because of the color choices. But again, that's my opinion.
EDIT: As for the name itself, at least in English-speaking countries on a predominantly English-speaking site it would be more obvious if 'Lio' was 'Leo', as abbreviating Lion doesn't really mean anything.

I'm not trying to convert anybody to my opinion either but this is all just meant to educate!
