...is us.

Random little thought that came to me earlier as my Alchemist was tearing through some of these squishy, nasty humans:

Most of the other animals we see in Explore are your usual African fauna; obviously many have value, hence the real-life abundance of the terrible things we see this month.

But stop for a second and think about how much a blue lion would be worth.

Or a stripped lion, or a wild-born Leopon, or pretty much anyone's King past the rolled ones. I'm certain that if this world is somewhat close to ours, word has gotten out about your King, this male lion who likely defies all logic and has a coat just as diverse as any domestic cat's, or perhaps the valuable females he protects.

Imagine what the rich and superstitious of the world would pay for such a beast; imagine what magical powers they assume we have[and kinda do, given how applicators can suddenly turn a ruddy brown lion to, well, Ice, or give a Tsavo a full Barbary mane]... or they think that a Piebald lion would make for a great trophy or rug, who knows.

Maybe these poachers are all looking for us, for our Kings, and are gathering spoils as they go along because WOW do these pink/black/white/blue lions do a good job of keeping a rich territory.

There's also the fact that, depending on the biome, you can very commonly find the usually-insanely-rare animals that these poachers are after.

Maybe it's just the sheer rich ecosystems that our lions inhabit, or maybe these guys are here to cut us down personnaly.

But eh, just thought I'd share this little nagging idea. =P
