Tevinter
Tevinter is an incredibly pale, stocky mermaid. A grey-green gem perches in the center of her chest, surrounded by small white designs. Her eyes are the same grey-green of her gem. Her eyes themselves are large and almond shaped. The grey-green optics are larger than most human's eyes, holding a froggish quality to them. Thick eyelashes surround her large eyes. She blinks rarely and her stare is intense yet calming.
Long, silvery locks spill down her back and flow past her opalescent tail. Sometimes small land flowers are woven into it when she can find them. Her body is as pale as her hair, and is littered with freckles. These freckles are all over her body, but are heavy on her cheeks and arms. Her lips are plush, and shark-like teeth adorn her mouth, along with an oily black tongue.

Tevinter's tail is a bright blue, with dark blotches around it. Her fins are feathery and flow like fabric, similar to a beta's tail. Small holes are in her fins from fights and getting caught in nets, hooks, and rocks. Small speckles on her sides are bioluminescent. They glow a light blue, but are only triggered when she wishes them to.



Personality;
Tevinter is a calm, distant soul. Her mind is usually elsewhere, and she gets caught with her head in the clouds often. She if fairly introverted, enjoying watching sailors from a distance. However, sometimes she will lure one in to eat, if she cannot find enough abalone to sustain her surprisingly large appetite. But the pale mermaid tries to refrain from eating them. She finds them interesting and odd. But she holds quite a grudge against whalers, for she grew up near a pod of humpback whales who were killed.

Besides being distant, she holds a very weak motivation drive. While many of her brethren fashion extravagant clothing garments for themselves out of kelp and old flags and fish scales, Tevinter chooses wear a simple brassiere, or let her hair cover her chest. She is quite smart and very knowledgeable, but really does not show it. She makes mindless decisions and does not use her head practically.

Backstory;
As a young merchild, Tevinter lived with her father and mother peacefully. Her father was a soldier and protected whales, while her mother was a master jeweler. They lived in peace until her mother was caught for her shimmery scales as a prize for the king of Spain. However, she escaped with mortal wounds, and died. Her father became a quiet man, and eventually Tevinter ran away because her father began to neglect her in his depression. Fleeing to the warm Caribbean, she enjoyed the bright blue waters and colorful fish. lol and behold, she found humans too! They weren't fancy men that looked like they wore sheep on their heads, they were tough looking and sailed ships! She soon learned these were pirates.

Becoming a resident of a busy port was easy. Stay under the docks and she was fine. She fed on fish dropped by the boats, and easily could observe human activity. She enjoyed watching men (and some women) come through. One boat was her favorite; The Black Pearl. She admired the captain, Jack Sparrow (she thought he was handsome and hilarious) and his crew was brave. She stayed around the port, only venturing out when she wanted to follow The Black Pearl. On one of her journeys, she discovered Hörgoth, commonly known as the Kraken. She knows where he lurks, but is too scared to tell any.

Short Roleplay Example;

Sitting on the rocks near the docks during night was fun. She could sit there, in broad sight, but still not be seen, the most visible thing about her was her tail, and even that was hard to see. Only glimmers from the shiny scales, which many told off as a dead fish or an odd light reflecting off the water. Perfect for a people watcher such as herself. She watched people load and unload things, drunk men getting into fights, thieves stealing from roadside stalls, restless horses, mothers carrying children, burly men, old men,dogs, birds, and all the regular things that happened in this port. However, it wasn't regular to Tevinter. It was a whole mystical world she wanted to move in. She wanted to be a pirate, to sail the seas, to fight, to launch a cannon. But alas, this could not come true.

Sure, she had headed stories about mermaids who became human. But they always needed to pay something in return. Tevinter didn't have enough motivation to go get something to pay a witch, so she stayed content with just watching in silence. Well, not in total silence. She had saved a few people who had toppled into the water. Other than that, no one knew of her. The people who she saved told the residents about her, but they thought it was hogwash. So no one really thought she exsisted.

It was perfect for her. But one thing was missing.

And that thing was coming right then.

With and excited gasp, Tevinter turned to see The Black Pearl coming in. Smiling wide, she spotted her favorite member on the bow: Captain Jack Sparrow. She dove into the water, swimming at lightning speed toward it. Swimming along the how as the water broke in front of the ship, she watched the man steer the boat. But through the water, it was a little harder to see him in all his majesticness. Taking a small jump out of the water, she looked up. But...

It want Jack Sparrow. It wasn't even The Black Pearl! She had mistaken it! And to make it worse, someone standing next to the captain of the ship pointed at Tevinter and said " 'ook! Issa Mermaid! Git 'er!" And with those words, harpoons and come cannons began firing at her. One harpoon sliced open her shoulder, but nothing else hit her. With a blood curdling scream, she dove under the waves and swum quickly to a small cave where she wouldn't be seen. She stayed there until no more noise was heard.

Everyone in the port had taken to staring at the ship. And the ship's crew began screaming about "a sea witch, a sea witch!" Tevinter's blood went cold.

She had been found.

Her quiet people-watching was over.

She finds herself attracted to human men more than mermen, and falls in love a ton. She has a bad habit of shying away from other females. Her female childhood playmates enjoyed pushing her around and reprimanding her.

Appearance;
Far from her Norwegian birthplace, Camilla flaunts thick, wild dark hair and a lithe body. A former assassin, she wears minimal, yet comfortable and airy clothing to move faster. A small white scarf wraps her neck, and she wears a tight band of cloth around her chest.

Camilla's intense yellow eyes have a reputation to put anyone on edge, even the stoniest of men. Her resting face is a displeased one, and she often scares little children and some women with her emotionless face. She has a big scar down her spine from being grazed by a harpoon.

Personality;
Even though Camilla, "Cam" or "Tyrant", has a displeased resting face, she is quite full of spunk. Reaching about 5'9" has boosted her confidence, and she will hop in the chance to brawl with anyone. Her silver tongue is nearly unmatched, and she is sarcastic and sassy to the point of being unable to take anything seriously.

Her raspy voice makes her seem that much crazier. Her laugh is like a hyena's, and she has a very crude and dark humor. She talks a lot when happy, and is fiercely loyal. She will do all she can to protect. Even though she is filled to the brim with spunk, Camilla is sensitive about her mother and hates being made fun of for how she looks.

Backstory; Her mother, Bertha, came from Norway pregnant with her, to the Caribbean. Bertha knew pirates were there, but since she had been accused of murder, she hoped she would fit right in. And right Bertha was. She was able to birth her child safely and find friends. However, she went to leave her child, Camilla, at home when she went to retrieve her belongings in Norway. But Bertha was lost at sea and presumed to be killed. So, Camilla forged her own way. Becoming great friends with an old assassin, Camilla began to train to be one herself. It did pay good money.

Once she was 15, she had a steady assassin job going, and she was nicknamed "Tyrant" because no one could catch her. And she had an upper hand on the whole community. She sailed from her home once she got enough money, and came into the port where many pirates resided. In a chance encounter, she came across a witch. The witch told her she could become more powerful if she got her blessing. So Tyrant accepted. The witch gave her a blessing, but it turned into a curse. Each full moon, her forearms would become rock, and she would grow huge rock claws. Along that, spikes protruded from the stone section of her arms. These talons would poison anyone she wanted them to.


Short Roleplay Example;
Camilla had been in the pub, arm-wrestling the bartender for a free drink, when some shouting and some loud booms and splashes were heard. Letting go of the bartender's arm, she dashed outside to see the ruckus. An unfamiliar shit had launched a volley of harpoons into the calm waters of the night.

Merchants, ruffians, and pirates alike were staring at the newcomers with surprise, suspicion, and hostility. With that grand of an entrance, they were likely to be looked down upon. But that changed when all of them began screaming "Lookit! We saw a water witch! She's gonna eat youse all!" The captains grammar and language was terrible. But his words were more important.

A sea witch? No one had seen those before, minus some of the crazy people who fell of the docks. But never had more than five people talked about a sea witch before. Yet here was a whole crew of them screaming about it. And why waste perfectly good cannonballs on nothing? There had to be something.

Appearance;

He is a huge monstrosity of a creature. Bigger than an oceanic liner, his head is massive and is about the size of a motel. Four cruel, glowing eyes rest upon his head, and tentacles come from his mouth. Horns perch on his head, and blue veins run down his neck and to his chest. Wing-like appendages work similarly to a crab claw, snapping up things behind him. They also attract lightning. His mostly oil black body has veins of blue, that can glow brighter and fainter at his will.

Personality;
He is very hostile, and will attack any ships he comes across. He desires the blood of many, and does not have any concept of mercy. When in his talons, no man can get out. He consumes any human in his clutches, or will put them outside his lair as a warning to passerbys.

Backstory;
The Kraken has an unknown origin. He simply has been prowling his territory for three centuries, crashing any ships he finds. His motives are unknown. And, oddly enough, he does not attack any sealife. In fact, he seems to enjoy protecting them.

Short Roleplay Example;

Hörgoth lay, in a deep comatose slumber. His bed was made of rotting sunken ships and bones of the humans he had consumed. All the glowing on his body was out, showing he was in a very deep sleep. But, above him, his unconscious mind recognized something. The creaking of a passing boat.

As soon as that processed in his brain, his body lit up with a bright flash, and his four eyes flew open. But the light soon dimmed when he looked up, excited to find new prey. He launched himself up from his bed of decay, rocketing up into the bottom of the boat. Wood splintered under his horns, and he growled with pleasure.

Swimming away from the bottom of the boat, he positioned so his four eyes could be seen in the water by the crew. The , all of the sudden, he rose from the water, roaring loudly and with vigor. The crew on the ship in front of him looked petrified. As water ran off his face, he began to blow brighter as his crab appendages rose up and clacked threateningly. They glowed bright as well.

Screaming was heard from the deck, a mix of "Fire the cannons," "it's the Kraken," and "No! Please, no!" Were music to his ears. With a few more giddy clicks of his claws, he lunged and pulled the boat into the air as useless cannonballs pelted off his tough skin. Screaming, he began to pluck of people and eat them, one by one.

His meal was fabulous.
