Short Explanation : In short Gastroschisis is a defect in which an infant is born with some of its abdominal organs born outside of its abdomen through a small hole to the right of the infant's bellybutton. Lengthy Explanation: Gastroschisis is caused when one or both body wall folds within an embryo do not move properly and therefore do not fuse. This incomplete fusion results in this defect that allows the infant's abdominal organs to go through the abdominal wall and outside of the body, through a very small hole to the right of the infant's belly button, or you could just have a hole. Is it Possible in Lions?: While I was unable to find any evidence during my research that this defect does occur in lions, I know from personal experience, that this defect not only effects human, but also sheep, cattle, dogs, and even cats. I believe that my inability to uncover any evidence on this defect afflicting cats is likely due to the lack of research on Gastroschisis in big cats, as it seems more than possible that big cats also experience this defect. "Warning! Some viewers might find this image distressing" I would show pictures of it occurring in other animals, but the pictures are just too graphic. If proof is needed, I can edit in some links to pages that talk about it. Cub Appearance/Information: Any infant with Gastroschisis will die if left untreated, hence why I believe it should be a lethal defect that kills the cub at 1 month due to infection. Appearance (Non Graphic): Small sickly looking newborn cub lying on it's side with its belly facing towards the player, and a noticeable hole off centre from its lower belly. Suggested by: Felicity Smooake #31735 Appearance (Slightly Graphic): I think that it should be a small, sickly looking cub lying on its side, with its belly facing towards the player, and a small hole in its belly with perhaps a small bit of intestine poking through the hole. |

@Noxis Hmmm, it would be helpful if you could provide a link to be sure. 0 players like this post! Like? |

The mutation was only suggested once, the topic locked due to having multiple mutations suggested. Xy did comment before locking it that players could recreat topics of the suggested mutations. Other than that topic, nobody else has suggested it. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I think it's a bit confusing that people are calling it too graphic to have a little bit of intestine but we have equally graphic even decors from time to time. Is the intestine offending while bloody prey and a decaying lioness behind your king aren't? I'm not bashing anyone I'm just saying I don't understand. I've seen some decors that have made me cringe, and guess what? I haven't bought them. So don't Jellyfish the cub, let it die, rest knowing you bred a lethal and couldn't handle it. Don't black out and sugar coat the truth of the condition if it gets accepted. Life happens and it isn't always pretty. Besides, I'm pretty sure the artist could come up with something a lot more graphic if they really wanted to. It's not like this person is suggesting to turn the whole cub inside out. Supported it btw. Just felt the need to rant since I'm pretty sure this is why it's not being supported by others. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 28/08/17 @ 03:58:32 by Leya (#90413) |

@Leya Thank you for addressing this. I am quite confused myself as too why people are being quite sensitive over it being graphic when, as you stated, we have far more graphic decors. Edit: Agreed. It is annoying that this is (I'm assuming) why people are not supporting. I've seen the new mutation, and while it isn't graphic from the point of view of inards etc, it is still slightly...disturbing. 0 players like this post! Like? Fun fact!! I was born with gastroschisis, and had no idea how to spell it until this very moment lmao. My belly button's a weird-lookin' scar, off to the left side of my body. Neat stuff, very gross, vaguely discomfiting to read about??? But hey. I'll support it! 0 players like this post! Like? |

@Lichen Wow, I don't know whether to say that is cool or sad XD I understand is my be a bit discomforting to read about, but if you had a description of cyclopia made, I'm sure that too would be very discomforting to read about if you get what I'm saying ^-^ . Edit: Thanks for the support! 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 28/08/17 @ 04:09:59 by Lunastar (#97406) |

It freaked me out when I had to have a second surgery a few years ago, but nowadays I treat it like it's just a weird fact, y'know? XD And you're probably right about the discomfort. It's neat, though, that people know about it and are interested enough to make a suggestion about it!! But honestly, if people can handle lipo cubs, which personally squick me the hell out, they can deal with a bloody hole in a cubbin's belly. Some of the lethal mutes are a little bit disturbing, which imo is partially the point. They're lethal mutations. They're not supposed to be pretty, though I 100% understand the trophy mentality in this game because they're so rare. I dunno, I guess I just feel that the gross factor isn't as strong as people seem to be treating it. 0 players like this post! Like? |

@Lichen Totally understand, I have brain damage so I guess I know what you mean by the weird fact XD I've seen it myself afflicting lambs before and I know it affects quite a lot of people, so I guess it was quite interesting to learn a bit more about the condition. ^-^ 0 players like this post! @leya Again, I point to the fact that context matters. We see corpses lying about all the time. On modern tv, national geographics and whatnot. You get used to it in the same-albeit indirect- way a predator gets used to it. Despite the new mutation not being so gory, it disturbs you more than, say a rotting, decaying wildebeest because you process what you are looking at different than the typical morbid imagery. This isn't your everyday gore, it's a horribly mutated baby that is slowly dying. Whereas what is wrong with the half eaten carcass is plain, this is more complex and requires more of a mental and emotional investment to it than that. Its what makes the anti-poaching event pack so much more of a punch than the Halloween event. It's the difference between slasher and body horror. So yes, they could come up with something more visually horrible, but frankly, as you already pointed out, its the realism that gives its atmosphere. On top of that layer of discomfort, there is also the disappointment in breeding something thats going to die. What if this is your first bred mutation? What if it has taken months for you get one of your own? While you can argue that you can just buy what you want in trade or auctions, some people quite enjoy trying to get things on your own, and more lethal mutations means more of a chance for your efforts to be a failure. I already supported it, just thought I'd play devil's advocate. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 28/08/17 @ 04:35:51 by Ningoat (#110355) |

This would be a brilliant idea, I personally always love new mutations coming in! Just that the picture might be a bit disturbing for many people? 0 players like this post! Like? |
