World details (AKA, sorry this is a mountain of text but it helps visualize the world I hope!)
--------
Technology
Technology advances are common in Asbury. The inner city boasts more commercial technologies, cosmetics that can change eye colors, moving tattoos, the like. Cell phones are extremely popular, however work best in the city's heart, with service failing the further out you go. Phones can be traced, and paying while on the run can be a challenge. Most identified or well known gifted use burners, or run through hacked services. (Pending)

Asbury, the city in depth.
The city is enormous, set up in a sort of ring format. The deepest part of the city is where the richest and most well off live. From the park district, where the older folk sip their tea and golf the days away, to the party hub, where the youth live hedonistic lives. People almost never leave, and to enter takes exception knowledge of the city's underground or above ground networks. That, or just knowing the right person to pay off. The entire inner city is protected with a mix of walls, gates, and security. Anything can be found in this district, and Asbury prides itself on having the largest well functioning city home to date.
the Mid-city is where the most average folk live. While enough exists in this ring to provide a stable and comfortable life, it lacks much of the entertainment of the Inner city. It has schools and parks, shopping and a small night scene, but on a much lesser scale. It surrounds the Inner City like a blanket, a cushion to help stop the less than desirable from trying to gain access. Most folk here are average families, and those unable to make a living in the Inner City. While there is a border seperating it from the Outer City, it is far less protected and managed, consisting mostly of high areas of electric fencing.
The Outlands house the poorest of the poor, and are about 80% abandoned buildings from better days. Living here is near impossible, with shops never stocked and at times water and electricity not functioning. No protection exists in the city, allowing for massive violence to occur without repercussions. There is no gate to enter the Outer city, having been broken and torn down ages ago.
The only thing that connects the cities rings, is a well protected tunnel that runs both under, and above ground that runs supplies and travel to the Mid and Inner rings. Protected by a metal cage, and with a host of Hunters and guards usually on board make it a challenge for anyone to board without notice, or take for themselves.

Resistance in depth
The so called Resistance is a small but growing group of Gifted, gathered under a mysterious figure called Eve. While they have a presence in a few cities, Asbury has been their greatest success due to its size and popularity. The Resistance had two goals; to help any Gifted in need and to build up enough power to start a revolution, and show the world they have a right to exist too.
The Resistance moves locations almost monthly, or if they are compromised. they use the ruined tunnels and abandoned subway systems that lie under the city for travel, as well as access in and out of their hideaways. Scavengers, the resistance takes advantage of everything they come across. Drugs, bullet proof vests, guns, whatever they can find in buildings or off of fallen hunters, they will take it. Ash, the highest ranking member of the Resistance in Asbury is careful to lend out the items, making sure they only get used when necessary or for missions. They work together as a team to provide food, water, and even a small assortment of gym equipment and entertainments for their members.
While they may help anyone in need, those why leave are kept under high surveillance to make sure their location or secrets are not getting out.

Hunters in depth
Hunters, while they may have trained elsewhere are more than likely stationed at Asbury. Taking orders from a mix of higher ups, or the Head of Asbury's department directly, they get a stable life in return for their services. They get paid a sum every week for their work, as well as commission when they capture of dispose of a Gifted.
The Headquarters is where their living stations are, which provide each Hunter with a small but cozy suite style room that overlooks the Inner City business district. Inside the Hunters area of Headquarters is a gym, kitchen, and lounge. Depending on rank they may be able to check out equipment in the armory for missions themselves, as well as have a secure area to store or repair any adaptations they have. The only item that requires Head of Department approval to acquire is performance enhancing drugs, which allow temporary strength, stamina, etc. However overuse comes at a great cost, as well as mental and physical exhaustion when the effects wear off. These are highly addictive, and are handed out very rarely.
On missions, lesser ranking Hunters may be injected with a tracker, so they can be monitored.

Ash Burke|Female Teleportation Gifted|Location: Abandoned rooftop, Outer City|Mentions: Eve (NPC) Hedge, Open
---
It was dark. The sun had just finished casting an orange glow across the city, plunging a brief moment of magic back into shadow. Ash fidgeted where she stood, pale gaze scanning slowly across the empty streets, hand raising to bring the phone grasped in her left hand to her ear.
"I don't see anything." There was silence on the other end, and for a moment Ash was sure the connection, so spotty in the Outlands, had dropped. As she pulled the cracked screen away from her cheek, a voice finally emitted from the other end. It was androgynous, slow and thoughtful.
"Then the meeting has been compromised." A hiss slowly exhaled from behind clenched teeth. This was the third attempt to get a Gifted to safety that had failed.
"Eve. We need-" The soft voice cut through her words, and Ash frowned as she pressed the phone close to better listen.
"It may be time to move. Hold.  I will check the reports, and get back to you soon." With that, the phone went silent. Frowning, Ash stared at the screen, shining useless apps at her face until a slender finger poked the small envelope icon, tapping out a simple message to a contact marked only with a small porcupine icon.
Compromised. Hold til further notice. Return at leisure.
With that, she gave the road a last, fleeting glance before turning, slump shoulders to walk off the edgeof the roof, vanishing with a crack and a puff of pale smoke.

---
Hedge|Male Porcuipine Gifted|Location: Inner City Streets| Mentions: Ash, Open
---
There was something about the nightlife that made Hedge feel alive. Perhaps it was the colors, from the flashing neon signs to the shifting glitter on clothes and in hair. Or maybe it was the energy, the sheer uncaring of it all. No fear for your life, no worries about if they were going to eat that day. It was the place everyone wanted to be. Hedge shifted past a set of giggling females that adorned the doorway of a club, thudding out the latest music. It was so normal. Instinctively, his hand reached to scratch near his shoulder, where under the thick leather hid his secret. His Gift. This would be the worst place to accidentally show.
Shrugging the jacket more securely around him, Hedge was about to continue on his way before his pocket began to vibrate. Confused, he pulled out the phone, reading the message swiftly before tucking the device back into safety.
"Well, there goes a waste of a trip." His words were drown out by the ambiance around him. Ambiance he could now enjoy. Swiveling, he sauntered back to where the pack of party goers had been, leaning against the club wall as he watched with a crooked grin. He made the trip all the way out here, he might as well have some fun.

Caius Vlaier | Male | Electrokinesis Gifted | Location: Abandoned Street, Outer City | Mentions: Open

A cold wind whipped across Caius’s face, leaving stinging marks on his pale skin. Shrugging his jacket up towards his face, the tall male continued his nightly trek, picking his way carefully through the deserted street. His eyes were on the fading horizon, watching the sun and painted sky disappear as night drew closer. Clutched within his hand was his cyclone blade, his preferred and most trustworthy weapon.

Caius’s platinum hair was stark compared to the darkness of surrounding streets, and he knew quite well that he could be an easy target from his current position. Cautiously, he crept to the sides of the debris-filled street, stepping carefully underneath overhangs. Here, he was less identifiable, and though this should’ve provided comfort, Caius was unwilling to believe that he was safe. All his life, Caius had been hunted, tracked, for an ability he had not chosen. He preferred the word mutation, or curse- it was nothing short of either of those things. It most certainly was not a blessing. Clenching his hands, he could feel the metal protruding from his skin begin to burn, and Caius attempted to control his inward fury. He needed to be calm, to be quiet, and accidentally shooting out electricity in the dark of the night was not wise.

Steadily, he carried onwards, the backpack slung over his shoulder bounding steadily against his spine. His boots were tracking dust and dirt behind him, and he knew that soon enough he would need to stop to clean them. As he ventured nearer to the inner city limits, Caius took an abrupt turn into an abandoned house. It was derelict but empty, and he swiftly set up a small camp of sorts in the master bedroom. This was the way his life had been since he first mutated- run, hide, survive.

Esme “Black Dahlia” | Female | Marksman/Sharpshooter Hunter | Location: Inner City, Rooftop | Mentions: Open

A sleek silver jacket was bundled up to Esme’s face, protecting her lips and nose from the harsh wind battering the rooftop. Her weapons were laying neatly next to her, her pair of goggles inserted safely over her eyes. The chip-comm in her ear was activated as well, though nothing emerged from it except staticy silence. Her fingers thrummed on the edge of the rooftop, pounding out an incessant beat. Normally, she would’ve been told to quit, but she was alone on this scouting mission.

Esme glanced down into the streets below, her enhanced eyesight allowing her to see the gaudy decorations that the citizens had draped themselves in. She snorted with distaste and leaned back, thudding her combat boots onto the ground. How garish, how obnoxious the citizens were, uncaring of the life outside the inner city. Though Esme was a hunter, she had originally been raised in the midgrounds, and she had never really seen the appeal of the inner city- except the constant stream of food and shelter. Brushing her dyed hair back and sweeping it up into a tight ponytail, Esme hopped back up onto the edge.

Every gust of wind felt as though it might blow her over, but she knew better. She was not to be underestimated- even by nature. She picked up her rifle and swung it by her side, looking down upon the city again. Still nothing, as usual. Most nights resulted this way- empty and devoid of captured Gifted. This could be taken as either a good thing or a bad thing- good, because it meant the Gifted were becoming fewer, and bad, because that meant her role as a Hunter would become less important. Huffing with distaste, Esme waited for any sign of the unnatural beings. Her targets.

Remus "Crow" Ryers|Male, Hunter, Long range, Strategist/Tracker| Location: Outlands|Mentions: None/Open

Remus stalked the streets like a predator, dark clothes blending with the now equally dark streets, the burning end of his cigarette the only thing distinguishing him from the shadows. He was looking, searching, though for what he wasn't sure. He knew there was something, though, felt it down deep. He knew the feeling well, and he knew it usually proved lucrative. He sidestepped down an ally, flicking ash in the direction of a hissing feral cat. He followed simply his intuition, ears and eyes peeled, though he was casual in his appearance.

His metal arm whirred, re-calibrating itself. He was due for an upgrade, and the thought made him grimace. He hated doctors. His thoughts halted at the sound of a crack, eyes snapping in the direction of the sound just in time to catch the smoke. Huh. His gut had been right, if not a bit slow on the uptake. But he had something now, not a lot to go one, but he'd had less before and a trail was a trail. He stepped back onto the street, lips curved into a smirk, lighting up another cigarette, humming softly to himself.

Sam "Samuel" Darrow || Male || Bloodlust Gifted || Location: abandoned rooftop, Outer City || Mentions: Open

The collar of a worn navy blue sweater was tucked closer to Sam's face, red tinged the boy's nose as the crisp air attempted to chill the figure to the bone. Brown hair sweeping across his face as an arm reached up to tuck a few stands behind a ear. The small male had decided to make this abandoned one story home his camp for the night, seating himself on the edge of the rooftop to survey his surroundings. A sigh escaping his lips as his mossy gaze watched the fading sunset, painted with various colors of reds and oranges.
His fingers hovered over the screen of his phone, blue and white light iluminating the boys face that was emitted from the screen. Tapping a name that was placed in the very few list of contacts. The boy then brought the electronic up to his left ear, listening as the phone emitted muffled rings. He only had a very few contacts in his phone, paranoid that the hunters would be able to trace anything he did with it so he tried to limit his phone usage as much as possible.
"Hello?" A tired voice of a woman rung through the speaker. For a moment Sam almost choked on his words as the voice of his mother rung through the phone.
"Hey mom.." He said softly, the corner of his lips tugging into a smile as all the tension in his body left him. Shoulders slumping as a hand lazily played with the zipper of his black and red back pack. "Oh my god! Honey how are you?!" The woman questioned, the surprise and joy emitting through her voice. A chuckle escaped his lips "I'm-I'm fine, mom! Just been busy is all," he ran a hand through his hair nervously as he spoke "how about you, anything new?"
"Nah, work has been just as usual though I'm hopping to get my paycheck soon. I have been needing to buy a few new pots and plants for the garden." She had a sort of whimsical tone to her voice as if she was happy, but he knew better. It was always like this when talking to her, he tries to keep as little contact with her as possible but he does call ever so often to check up on her.

Ash Burke|Female Teleportation Gifted|Location: Abandoned rooftop, Outer City|Mentions: [ID] Remus, Open to anyone in the area

Even after all these years, it was still a peculiar feeling. Like a tickle, or an itch you can't scratch. Ash landed lightly on another roof with yet another crack, skipping forwards through the smoke a few steps to reacquaint herself with solid ground. She had only gone a few roof tops down, to another abandoned home. Although Eve had told her the mission was over, she wasn't ready to give up quite yet. Grabbing a crumbling chimney, she peered around it's frame, to the streets below. It was silent, almost uncomfortably so.
"Nothing. this is unusual, ever for here." The words were spoken to no one in particular, if only to give the illusion of company. Crouching, the wispy girl rummaged beneath her sweater for a moment, pulling out a small pair of what looked like well worn goggles. Flipping the side switch a few times, she waited for its green glow. The equipment flickered slightly, a buzz from its battery like a tired groan.
"Just a little bit longer." She murmured, giving it a final tap before raising the equipment to her eyes. It took some adjusting, the green world grainy and uncomfortable to view through. However, it had its uses and in that moment, was her saving grace. As the goggles swung in an arch across the street, she saw it. A figure walking, or at least that's what she though. With a pop, the goggles died, and Ash dropped low, heart beating in her chest. It could be nothing. The thought was her comfort as she raised herself slightly, using the chimney as her leverage. Yet sure enough, in the dead silence of the street she could see a brief flash of light, hear the distant crunch of footsteps. She was about to lean forward more, when the loose brick she clung to shifted, sending a set of chalky stone thudding down the roof and onto the earth below.
Well shit. Ash froze, ears and eyes alert.

Hedge|Male Porcupine Gifted|Location: Inner City Streets| Mentions: [ID] Esme, Open

It was weird to feel normal. Hedge laughed at the club goers joke, clinking a red plastic cup against the mans own as he raised it to his lips, only to lower it without drinking. To blend in with the crowd, to be accepted without a second thought. Hedge let himself sink to a sit on a bench in front of the pounding music, leaning back with a groan, grin across his face as he brushed off yet another cup of 'something' offered. How they did it, he would never know. Gaze turned to the sky, the bright lights making the stars impossible to see. suddenly, he jolted forward, half raised from the bench as his eyes narrowed, trying to see it again. A shape moved against the skyline, back-lit by a passing advertisement.
"what the.." Hedge slowly rose to his feet, shielding his eyes against the glare. It wasn't unusual for security to be around such a place, but his natural instincts went into overdrive. His hand tugged at his coat, letting the quill tucked in his sleeve fall into his hand as he began to back away, acting as casual as he could while keeping his eyes on where he had last seen the unknown figure.

Caius Vlaier | Male | Electrokinesis Gifted | Location: Abandoned Street, Outer City | Mentions: Ash [ID]

Caius had been rummaging through his pack when he heard a distant crack, followed moments later by the crunch of a falling break. He froze immediately, his muscles tensed and the hairs on the back of his neck standing up. His eyes were wide, turned towards a broken window with a look of surprise. He quickly gathered his things back into his backpack, shoving them in without any care of their order. If it was a Hunter, he was screwed to Hell. He quickly zipped up his pack and dashed from the house, remaining hidden inside the shadows of night. Electricity hummed throughout his veins, sparking at his fingertips every few seconds.

His pale blonde hair was his only problem now, and so Caius made sure to keep right under the rooftops. His hands fumbled for the knife bands on his leg, withdrawing too silver throwing knives after replacing his cyclone blade. He had to get out of here as fast as possible, and he had learned that if he threw these in the general direction of someone, they would leave him alone. Sparks continued to grow at his fingertips, burning his skin with brief but intense heat. A flash of panic went through him as he realised this could easily give away his position, and he tucked his hands close to his sides. Continuing to run, the cold wind stole his breath, and the jagged intake of air seemed to throttle him.

Esme “Black Dahlia” | Female | Marksman/Sharpshooter Hunter | Location: Inner City, Rooftop | Mentions: Hedge [ID]

A flicker of movement in the corner of her eye caught Esme’s attention, and she quickly turned her head towards the street. A male figure seemed to be staring up at her, though his focus was shifted towards the right; she realised that she must have moved since he had last seen her silhouetter. Now, the question remained- was he a Gifted, or simply a wary partygoer? She kept her gaze trained intensely on him, turning up her goggles to the fullest extent. She reached for the comm implanted in her ear, ready to call it in if he showed any signs of being Gifted. And then, she saw it.

The flash of something, gripped in his fist as he walked steadily backwards. With a heavy sigh, Esme pressed the comm. ”Black Dahlia, reporting in. Gifted within the Inner City limits, outside a club. Located seven streets away from Headquarters. Requesting ground-based back-up.” Esme released her finger from the button, hefting her rifle up to her shoulder and aiming at the Gifted. Frustration coursed through her as she realised that there were far too many civilians in the way- were she to shoot one of them instead, there would be hell to pay. Slowly, she lowered her weapon, waiting instead to see if anyone would arrive. If this one gets away, I’m going to strangle someone, she thought to herself. Clenching her fists, her knuckles turned white in the pale moonlight. But he won’t get away. He’s mine.

Sam "Samuel" Darrow || Male || Bloodlust Gifted || Location: abandoned rooftop, Outer City || Mentions: Ash, Open

Sam sighed as he listened to his mother chatter on about things, such as what she made for dinner or how the white roses she found were becoming harder to control. He savored the sound of her voice, he couldn't remember how long it has been since the last time he has seen her. "Anyway, enough about me. Do you have enough food? If-if not I could-!" Sam quickly interrupted her worry some rambling "no, no! I-i am fine! I was able to fine some bottles of water and a thing of trail mix to add to my bag. No need to worry." He stammered, fidgeting with his legs as another chilled wind sprawled through the air. "Anyway, I've got to get going but I'll call you another time, okay?" He questioned, he hated having to cut things short but he couldn't stay on the phone for long in case anyone else picks up the signal. His mother sighs out in agreement and tells him to stay safe and that she loves him, Sam saying the same thing before a finger hits the red end button.
Shoving the device into the pocket of his jeans, the gifted rises his arms into the air. Muscles straining in his arms as he arches his back to stretch. However he was cut short as the sound of a distant cracking noise of rock against stone, his head swung upwards as his gaze follows the area of the sound. A blackened shape presses itself against the silhouette of a crumbled chimney. His breath quickens at the sight, how did he not see that sooner? What if that was a hunter? Sam scrambles to his feet, scooping up his backpack and swinging it up onto a shoulder. Ready to book it out of there if so help him it was a hunter, but he hesitates, what if that was a fellow gifted? He has only met a few gifted along his travels and most of them either turned a blind eye away from him or tried to manipulate him to give up his back pack. He groans as his mind fights to decide

(Giving others time to respond to Ash~)
NPC|Vera Sin'clair|Head of Hunter Headquarters, Asbury|Mentions: Esme

The com flared to life, a cool, female voice emitting from the earpiece. It was unusual to hear this particular woman over the device, but her tone left no room for questions or argument.
"Confirmed. One ground unit in the area. Estimated arrival five minutes. " There was a pause as the com clicked off, then on once more. "Aim for subdue and capture." With that, there was silence.
---
Hedge|Male Porcupine Gifted|Location: Inner City Streets| Mentions: [ID] Esme, Open

Crap. As the sky darkened and he was able to see the flash of silver, and the... CRAP. Hedge rotated on his foot, swiveling around so that a tall, neon haired male was between him and the building. If his eyes, (and he could usually trust his night vision) saw what he thought they did, he was in trouble. That was just his luck. The red cup crinkled under his grip, his eyes flickering back and forth in thought. This was one of the worst possible locations to be caught in. The nearest accessible tunnel sat at least five blocks away, and although Hunters used discretion to avoid panic, he wasn't sure what he was up against. Even if he was only mostly certain that's who had been up on that roof, it wasn't worth the chance to run. Instead, he forced himself to relax, pressing the quill back into hiding, and raising an arm to put behind his head, turning away from the building. With a fake stumble, he leaned forward, an arm against one of his 'new friends' spilling the contents of his cup across the pavement.
"Right then, let's get this party started!" With that, he half led, half shoved them forward, towards the noisy depths of the club.

Remus "Crow" Ryers|Male, Hunter, Long range, Strategist/Tracker| Location: Outlands|Mentions: [ID] Ash

Remus stops, taking a drag before flicking the cigarette away. The brick fell on the other side of the street, shattering quite loudly against the silence of the night. He grinned. He didn't call it in, not yet, he'd have some fun first. "It's dangerous you know, being here after dark" He says, his voice echoing down the street, clear and filled with too much amusement for the situation. He loved playing with his prey, and realistically that's what the Gifted were, a bit of cat and mouse.
"What can you do? Hm? Wanna show me?"

His eyes focused sharply on the roof of the building. If it moved, he would know. He flicked on his comm unit, he would need it eventually, the static cracking the only sound to be heard. He knew it would alert the others that he was back online, and they would be expecting something soon, but he had some time.

Ash Burke|Female Teleportation Gifted|Location: Abandoned rooftop, Outer City|Mentions: [D] Remus, Open
---
Well, that hadn't worked. Ash slowly pulled her legs underneath her, resting on her toes as her mind whirled. She didn't think there was a gun on the figure, at least not prepped and ready. However that could have changed at any minute, the longer she waited the more time the man had to prepare. Her fingers gripped the bottom of her sweater. Even if she had her own protection, against the hunters she knew they had a major disadvantage when it came to firepower, especially at a distance. However if this was the guy who had compromised her earlier mission...Ash's eyes narrowed. How they did it, killed and captured innocent people without remorse made a fire boil in her chest.
How easily she could turn and flee, leave him wondering. Yet, she had to know. So, with a calming breath she rose, hoping he was new, hoping the darkness hid her features well enough to be unidentifiable.

"Would you believe anything I say?" Her voice was peculiar, soft and raspy. Raising it caused her a twinge of discomfort, but she knew it was the only way to be heard. Moving slow, and glad her eyes were adjusting to the darkness, she kept her gaze on the fuzzy figure, prepared for any sudden movements, hand up in her sleeves.
"As far as I'm concerned, you'd try and kill me regardless of what I can or cannot do." Still moving, she let her foot find the edge of the roof, standing at a crooked angle, muscles tense, eyes growing dry from the unblinking stare.

Sam "Samuel" Darrow || Male || Bloodlust Gifted || Location: abandoned rooftop, Outer City || Mentions: Ash, Remus, Open

Well what if they are in need of help? That was the thought that instantly had Sam turn around, shrugging the backpack further upon his shoulders as he faced the direction the noise came from. "What am i doing?" He whines towards the night sky, only to start rushing towards the location. The place could only be a few buildings away, his heart racing thousands of miles an hour as the air prickled the back of his throat. The adrenaline didn't help both his anxiety and fear, this was a really really idea! What would he even do when he gets there anyway! He can't fight with the dagger strapped to his hip like some professional gladiator, let alone hold himself in a damn fist fight!
Sam slowed down his footsteps as he neared the area, instinctively dunking low as he rounded a corner of a building. The only noise was the sound of a man's voice that echoed down the empty street and the light footsteps of his shoes crumbling the debris under his feet. Sam grasped the handle of a metal ladder the went to the rooftop of a old convenience store, scurrying up the ladder as quietly as possible, which wasn't much. Oops.
The boy crept quickly towards the exit of a stairwell, pressing his back against the wall of the structure. He heaved in a breath as he clutched the fabric of the sweater over his heart, god he needed to work out more. Green eyes peeking out from behind the wall, peering down at the figure bellow. Oh god what if they had guns!!

Remus "Crow" Ryers|Male, Hunter, Long range, Strategist/Tracker| Location: Outlands|Mentions: Ash, Sam

The predator laughed, grinning full of teeth up at the roof. "Aw, love, you don't know what I'd do. I could be one of you, for all you know." The distaste in his tone, even at the thought, made it very clear that he was not. A sound off to the side made him tilt his head, gin widening. There were more, then. He made no move for the pistol he kept at his back, not feeling particularly threatened. He crossed his arms over his chest, arm whirring as he did, plates shifting, light glinting off his fingers exposed by his finger-less gloves. "Why don't you come down here? I prefer to have my conversations face to face."

"That goes for you too, darling" He drawled in the direction of the noise he had heard. He would feel better being able to see them, asses what they were and what they could do, so he could move forward accordingly. Remus wouldn't go after them immediately. He would let them let their guide down, maybe even let them go, just for the fun of the hunt.

Caius Vlaier | Male | Electrokinesis Gifted | Location: Abandoned Street, Outer City | Mentions: Ash, Others [ID]

Caius slowed to a halt, his sides cramping and making him nearly double over with pain. He sank into a low position, heaving dryly. Resting his back against a crumblin stone wall, the lonesome male tilted his head back, breathing in the cool air. Slowly, his heartbeat began to settle, and Caius pushed himself upright, though he was still resting against the wall. A sharp wind stung his exposed hands and face, but he was far too tired to attempt to cover himself again. The streaks of jet black in his hair glistened with sweat, exposed by the moonlight. Oddly enough, however, his skin was clear and cool to the touch; though it still pulsed with burning electricty.

Wincing, Caius leaned against his support structure, his knees weak and ready to give out underneath him. A small groan pushed its way past his lips, and he quickly clamped a hand over his mouth. His lips were dry and cracked under his calloused fingers, and he felt himself give an involuntary shiver. Suspicious thoughts drifted across his mind. What if they heard? What if they follow? I don’t even know who they are; what if they’re Hunters? What if they find me?Caius’s mind was on overdrive, thinking furiously to try and determine the most rational way out of his situation.

Esme “Black Dahlia” | Female | Marksman/Sharpshooter Hunter | Location: Inner City, Rooftop, Ground | Mentions: Hedge [ID]

Esme’s face flushed with fury as the Gifted disappeared, pushing its way through the throng of citizens beneath. Guttural growl in her throat, the Hunter jumped lightly from her perch upon the rooftop’s edge and sprinted towards the roof entrance, hurrying down multiple flights of stairs. Her heart pounded in her chest, reminding her vaguely of her time as a weak child, one who couldn’t have taken on a Gifted without help. Well, she was no longer a child, and this Gifted was hers. Esme had a nasty habit of claiming targets for herself; though she had called for backup, it was only to ensure that there was no way of escape.

Her rifle swung by her side, revolver safely tucked into her leg band as she dashed out onto the crowded street. She pushed her way through the crowd, not even attempting to be discreet- what was the point? Her rifle was not easy to hide, and besides, it had been so very long since she’d been able to go after a Gifted. She was not holding back. Her footsteps blended with those of the citizens partying around her, and she drew ever closer to where she had last seen the Gifted. Turning her head, she spotted it disappearing into a club, and an angry buzz filled her head. Out, out, out, repeated the mantra in her mind, calling for bloodshed. Esme wanted it out; out of the club, out of her city. Heart pulsing, the Hunter delved into the club.

Ash Burke|Female Teleportation Gifted|Location: Abandoned rooftop, Outer City|Mentions: [D] Remus, Sam, Open
The laughing, relaxed tone that this hunter used sent a tremor down her spine, a mixture of nerves and fury. The fact this man found amusement in pain made her blood boil, and her fingers clench tightly inside her sleeves. Ash followed his voice as he spoke elsewhere, a separate roof. Her eyes narrowed as she searched, using the slightly lighter skyline to help distinguish movement. It could have been a trick of the darkness, but the hunter seemed right, there was another something with them. Ash resisted the urge to groan. If it was another of her kind, that put her in a far more precarious situation. sure, her own gift would let her flee without a second thought but she couldn't in good conscious leave an innocent to such a fate.
Lowering to a crouch, she gripped the edge of the roof, using a warped drain pipe to half slide, half jump to the earth, eyes scanning the surroundings in a sparatic, yet calculating fashion. The Hunter didn't seem to have backup, which wasn't unusual but also didn't mean more couldn't be close. Moving closer with slow steps, Ash paused at the cracked sidewalk, coming to rest half behind a car, tires deflated from lack of use. Every muscle was tense in her body, knowing from experience that to relax, meant death.
"So, what can I help you with?" While raspy, her voice still dripped with a disdain she couldn't hide when talking to any of these, things they called people.
"I don't want to disturb your nightly stroll. " Her gaze flickered swiftly to watch for the appearance of the other, trying to calculate a plan.

Hedge|Male Porcupine Gifted|Location: Inner City Streets| Mentions: [ID] Esme, Open
---
It was difficult to focus amid the heavy bass, and crowded room. Ok, bad idea. Very bad idea. It was nearly impossible to press through the undulating crowd, but at least it would be near impossible to use deadly force in this place. Ducking around a particularly energetic group, his dark eyes fixed on the door, seeing the flash of metal briefly as he lowered to the ground, using a bar stool as an anchor.
"This guys crazy!" The words were directed at no one in particular, not like he would be heard about the pounding music anyway. If this woman was bold enough to bring her whole armed self into this place, Hedge wasn't whoever it was would hold back hurting innocent people to get to their target. So, he needed their focus to remain on him.
"Hedge, this is one of your worse ideas." Still crouched, he began to shrug off his leather, pulling a bandanna tied around his neck up around his face to cover his mouth and nose. For once, he was glad he had preemptively considered the need to use his Gift.
Leaping onto the bar with some difficulty, he turned towards the entrance, his shout only slightly muffled.
"Hey! Looking for me?" As he turned, the flashing colors and strobes briefly illuminated the reveled, upper half of his back, sparkling against his quills. Then, in an instant he had jumped, shoving his way though towards the back and out the alley exit, knowing it was three blocks then a left two more until a safe zone. He only hoped she wasn't fast.
