With the introduction of the latest July base, Sunset, me and some friends thought about how unbalanced they are currently distributed in the color groups - three in the Black group, one in the Red, and none in the remaining ones, even though some would be right at home in another color group. So, why not change their genetics? I know, I know, it'd probably ruin some ongoing breeding projects, but it's nothing we haven't experienced already, so I don't see why we cannot adapt again.

The actual idea is as follows: Celestial base genetics would remain as they are, Black Dark Countershaded Special, and so would Sunset's genetics, those being Red Medium Countershaded Special, but Sidereal and Skyward would get a little tweak: Sidereal would belong to the Cream group, so its genetics would be Cream Medium Countershaded Special - and thus filling a void in the chart -, and Skyward would be changed to fit into the Golden group as a Golden Light Countershaded Special base.

Thoughts?

Support!
I always thought it is not very fair that almost all the july bases are placed in one colour group, especially since black colour group has quite many special, applicator bases anyway which makes it very popular. Especially since skyward and sidereal are not very "black". These bases are hard to breed and are very desired, but why don't make them available for golden and cream lions?
The only problem is that it would be a pain for some of the ongoing breeding progresses. How I think it can be resolved is information upfont that in few months there will be a change in the system (for one whole generation of lions at least, so people would be able to breed every lion they got for the project). However the pros of this change would be far better than the cons, at least in my opinion.

@Vayae

No idea of how hard that'd be to code, but it sounds amazingly convenient to adapt the whole game to the change that way. Thank you :D

Sorry, but no support. These bases are rare and valuable enough that people have in many cases spent a LOT of GB on them. imo it’s not really comparable to the changes to genetics groups that have happened in the past (like inferno, for instance). That happened a long while back when there were far fewer players to be affected, and it was generally not bases of anything like comparable value to July bases. Even then there was a big outcry, and staff said they would try to make as few big changes as possible in future.

I do agree that the July raffle bases are unevenly distributed between groups, but I just don’t think it’s fair to existing owners of sidereal and skyward to change them when they’ve already been in place so long. I’d support adding gold and cream bases in following years though, for sure.

Totally understandable. Thank you for the feedback, and for explaining it in such a calm, polite manner, too

Of course! :) I do get what you’re saying though and I can totally sympathise - it must be really frustrating breeding cream and gold bases, when there are so few rare/desirable bases in those groups currently. I just am not sure this is the fairest way to change it (in my personal opinion of course) <3

I'm actually not interested in breeding them myself, and the changes proposed are not based on any personal projects :'D

We just tried to have one in each to avoid the concentration Black seems to have - one of the players I discussed this with actually breeds Black -, and it seemed the only logical solution - Sidereal doesn't fit in Golden, and Celestial seems too dark to be Cream...

I'd be more interested if they just released new bases instead of changing old ones. I mean to catch up to the Black breeding group they could release two at a time. Like next year could be Cream & Gold or they could even just raffle the new bases like they've done before.

That could be another solution, yes, but taking into account that the upcoming bases for the next three years are the ones in the image below, I find it to be lacking. Heavenly looks like a cream base to me, and maybe it could be forced into golden, and perhaps Astral could be a dark cream base instead of the medium/light red it seems to me, but Divine looks like it'd be yet another black base. I'd love to see the celestial bases be balanced regardless of the option taken, but these three don't seem to leave much room for that

Is it only the Celestial bases you want balanced? While Lilac, Pearl & Sepia aren't Celestial I still take them into account when taking about the harder to breed bases. I do agree with you that this as a whole needs to be balanced I think you'll need to remember that Red & Black are the more popular bases so I guess it only makes sense they get more.

Also now that I'm looking at this, why would Heavenly be a Celestial base when it was introduced this month.

Grimme, this month's base is Angelic, Heavenly is a base featured in one og the July storyline endings, namely Menhit's c;

@Grimme

This suggestion is only to balance out the Wish Upon a Star bases only. To try and balance the color groups as a whole it'd be simpler to suggesting bases to be added and fill in "voids" in the genetics chart. On top of that, there was a statement made in the news that from now on color groups would no longer be pitted against each other, and instead we would have polls to pick from different bases of the same color group, precisely to prevent the "Red and Black get picked more because they are more popular" issue.

Heavenly is a July event base, you must be mistaking it with Angelic.

Ah ok it looks so similar to the NPC Nepheline lions base I thought it was the same thing.

I feel where you're coming from, while the Admins have never seem to have a problem changing a way to get a base (Buff) I think they should change the current bases we have in those categories to Celestial instead. Like Teardrop would make a perfect Celestial base.

Perhaps, but I see it more feasible to just change the genetics of those bases that are already July ones than taking a common special base and making it one all of sudden. Sunset came out this July, and it has the exact same pages of pride members with the base as Teadrop, which was introduced varely a month ago, and it wasn't for lack of trying from players to breed Sunset. July has 31 days, and the raffle runs every 12 hours once the tier is open, and not all the lionesses raffled where Sunset. I think it was half of them? I'm not sure, but having a celestial base come out of the blue like that would affect it's value so much, it just doesn't sit well with me
