What are they? 💀

The Hounds of Helheim are friendly canid creatures, created by Norse goddess Hel. They care for the dead and have different abilities to keep the underworld in order. While most of them are quirky and good-natured, there are also exceptions who tend to be aggressive and eager to fight. But no matter which personality - all of them have a very protective and caring instinct and are loyal companions.
Characteristics are two hooved hind legs, a short and compact body, the tufted (and also rather short) tail, strong paws and a longer, flexible neck. They can turn their head by 180 degrees. Hounds always have two horns, which grow above their eyes and have a slight backwards curve ("devil horns").

Fun Facts:
→ Hounds aren't born naturally, they are magically made out of giants' remains.
→ Hounds can stay as small as a cat, or become as big as a horse.
→ Hounds are genderless - they can't reproduce unless they have Hel's blessing.
→ Once a Hound is 'born', it gets commited to the care of Garm, who trains and raise the pup (he doesn't like his job a lot, tho).
→ Diet? Nah. Hounds don't need to eat anything to survive - which doesn't mean that they don't like to eat! Fruits and sugar are their favorites.
→ Hounds have four eyes. They rarely use their second pair of eyes, tho. (It helps to see wandering souls which haven't found peace yet.)

Rules Of Adoption 💰

→ You can adopt as many Hounds as you wish.
→ You can change the appearance of your Hound, add/remove markings, give him apparel, a personality or a story - but anyway, you don't have to. Do not change mutations, if you want your Hound to stay an official Hound of Helheim!
→ Auctions last for round about three days. If you want to instantly purchase a Hound, there's always a flatsale/autobuy option! Once it's yours, I send you a non-watermarked image of your Hound.
→ I'm also taking SB for GB (and the other way around) at a ratio of 1:1200.

→ I try to release up to five Hounds a week. One of them will be a special one and has at least one mutation.

Important: I don't claim any of this as 'mine'. There might be tons of species which are similar to the Hounds of Helheim, they are surely not the most creative things I've brought into life. Any similarities are not intended at all. I don't want to get rich nor famous with a 'closed species'. I actually only designed them to earn some extra bugs for playing Lioden (exclusively, I don't plan to sell them elsewhere). However, please don't copy any of the text passages or images to use them for yourself - thank you!

Mutations 🔬

Hel isn't always concentrated when creating a Hound. It happens that some of them are 'born' with different mutations. (Names will become clickable and link to an example of the specific mutations, soon!)

There are three different categories for mutations. First category affects the whole body/appearance; second category affects the ears; third category affects the eyes. A Hound may have up to five category (1) mutations (only one of them 'very rare') and one mutation from each category (2) and (3).

Category (1):
N Abnormal Horns - Hound has bigger horns (different shapes) which grow in any direction.
N Heterochromia - Hound's eyes have two different colors.
N Stumpy Tail - Hound has just a stumpy tail, or no tail at all.
N Winter Coat - Hound has lots of fur.
N Prehistoric - Hound has longer fangs and longer claws.
N Blessed - Hound has sparkly, starlike markings scattered all over its body.
N Piebald - Hound has white unregular patterns on its fur.
R Volcano - Hound has body openings at its neck or chest, releasing smoke.
R Squeak - Hound stops growing before becoming an adolescent. It ages, but still looks like a pupper.
R Undead - Hound has a naturally attached 'bone armor'.
R Naturalist - Hound grows flowers over its body.
R Zombie - Hound has partial decay, bones and flesh may be visible.
R Crystalline - Hound has spiky crystals and shimmery gems scattered over its body.
R Corvid - Hound grows feathers on the following body parts: head, neck, elbows, heels, butt OR tailtip.
VR Stalker - Hound has several eyes scattered over its body.
VR Dragon - Hound has scales on different parts of its body. 1% (very few scales) - 100% (nearly completely covered in scales).
VR Angel - Hound has small feathered wings (but is unable to fly).


Category (2):
N Floppy Ears - Hound has one or two floppy ears.
N Cropped Ears - Hound has one or two cropped ears.
R Cursed - Hound has a smaller, second pair of ears.
R Teddy - Hound has small, round ears.
VR Cthulhu - Hound has no ears, but a bunch of tentacles growing out of the back of its head.

Category (3):
N Snake - Hound has a crossed pupil.
N Goat - Hound has a horizontal pupil.
N Cat - Hound has a slit pupil.
R Soulless - Hound has no pupil (solid colored eye).
R Amor - Hound has a heart-shaped pupil.
VR Galaxy - Hound's eyes reflect the stars and depth of the universe.

Apparel 👗

You can purchase single pieces of apparel or whole outfits for your Hounds. Available items are listed below! Most of them are purchasable for a flat price. The bigger items - especially outfits - are unique pieces (only one will be sold) and going to be auctioned off. Those will be specifically drawn to match your hound! :)

Breeding ❤️

Hounds can't breed naturally. They need Hel's Blessing to get a pup! The goddess herself takes a tiny part of the Hounds' souls and forms a pup out of it.
To get a pup, you need two Hounds. They need to feel comfortable and safe in their new home to be able to let a part of their soul go. This means that they won't be able to breed until you have owned them at least for one week.
Once your Hounds are ready - and Hel's Blessing is available - you can ask for a pup. Both Hounds have to be your own ones, otherwise I need a written agreement from both owners.
This baby Hound will look like its parents, shares their markings and colors, OR will even show mixed variants! (Example: White Base + Black Base = Grey Base) Mutations won't be inherited, though! They occur as failed concentration (blame the goddess) and happen by accident. If you want Hel to reproduce such a mutation, you can always try to bribe her...

Keep in mind that this is completely random and might end in a result you weren't looking for. If you'd rather like to get a unique and personalized Hound, consider buying a custom!

If you're looking for a Hound with specific colors, traits or mutations, you can order a custom one right here. The rarer the Hound should be, the more expensive it gets!

Here you can find some adolescents who just finished their training! There are always a bunch of 'Normies' for sale, but once a week there's one special Hound that shows (multiple) rare mutations. Those don't have an autobuy!
