Instead of buying a canine, want to explore for one? There are three places to explore for canines. City, Forest, and Beach. City has common canines with small chance of a rare. Forest has uncommon with chance of rares. The Beach has a high chance of a rare canine. The more time you spend exploring, the higher chance of finding a canine. When you explore, you either find a canine and keep it or release it.
Prices for explore:
City - 50sb every ten minutes
Forest - 100sb every ten minutes
Beach - 200sb every ten minutes

When you buy a canine you get your own kennel! Each kennel has room for 5 canines. If you have a litter you must decide who to keep/sell/release when they are young pups.
