A massive tree with ribbons of every color laced throughout its boughs looms before you, its roots firmly placed up on a gentle hill. Perhaps it's a memorial? As you near it you can just barely make out the figure of an older gentlemen climbing down from the great tree's branches, he is surprisingly spry! With a "Hup!" he lands before you. The gentleman nods his head in greeting, spurred on by this action you decide to ask what he was doing up there

"I'm tending the Dogweeds, I was worried the ribbons might have been affected by the storm last night."

"Dogweeds?" you ask hesitantly.

"Oh, not from around here then? The great ribbon tree grants wishes, if you tie a ribbon tightly around a branch, and it truly believes you have a good heart, it will bless you with a Dogweed. Some say they're good omens, to be honest I don't believe that mumbo jumbo. I just think they're good companions."

He walks you over to a patch of sprouting leaves peaking out of the soft earth, each a different color.

"If your ribbon is deemed worthy, a branch falls from the tree and becomes a Dogweed. Given enough time they'll sprout up out of the ground and be solely yours for the rest of their lives," his face then turns from pride to dismay, "Though lately the tree hasn't been a good judge of character. There's been quite a few owners who have tied ribbons and left their Dogweeds without a home."

With aching muscles the old man leads you towards a group of feral Dogweeds hidden on the other side of the wide tree's trunk, some huddled together, others spread sparsely out amongst the tree's safe roots, bitter about their lot in life. Their owners have long since forgotten them after tying their ribbons and they have been left to fend for themselves. They seem to be a hybrid of both plant and canine with three eyes on either side of their heads, mouths of various colors with what appears to be vibrant sap dripping from their jaws.

Feral Dogweeds
Feral dogweeds have their genders set and cannot be changed without an item.

"I've been taking care of them, but it's hard on me to watch over so many. You have a good enough heart to patiently talk to an old codger like me, I'd be more than happy to part with one or two of them, but I ask for a small donation to help me recuperate my costs."

Ribbons
Ribbons are flexible, you may write whatever gender you prefer directly onto the ribbon and the tree will provide you with your wish. You may choose the gender before or after your Dogweed sprouts.

"I sell ribbons if you're interested in having one of your own, if you write on them the Great Tree will hear you. Just make sure to pick a good branch and tie it tight! They should be ripe to pluck after a day or so, so make sure you're there for them!"

Want to buy a ribbon but are nervous about how the grown Dogweed will look? The Dogweed tender will show you a nice shady spot to rest, it's said that if you rest in his spot you will have a dream of what your ribbon will become so you can decide whether to purchase it or not.
(Gives a preview of what a Ribbon will look like as a Dogweed. Whether a mutation is minor or major will be revealed a well. Does not have to be used immediately.)
