✪ Summary:

The Branch sales listings are a bit messy, aren't they? Depending on the item, sometimes it can make it a bit more tedious to get from items listed for Silver Beetles to items listed for Gold Beetles. A good number of items listed as "99999 SB" are listed by accounts that are listed as INACTIVE, which means that they can neither gather the funds from them, nor log in to remove them. In addition, many common items - such as carcasses - frequently clog up the listings with 99999 SB price listings.

Here's just a few examples.

Giant Tortioses

I probably don't need to post more examples. Now, while you might be able to just utilize this little diddy...

d155267b1a401547c682f60cc00bffdf.png

... sometimes you don't really know what things are currently selling for and that's what you're checking.

Regardless, this is less about "convenience" and more that there's no real reason for items that are either unpriced, or that are attached to inaccessible accounts to be listed, you know?

Also, sometimes folks forget to set prices, or dunno what they wanna set it to, and that's okay! The listings can be hidden until they do.

✪ What I Am Proposing:

[+] That Branch Listings by users whose accounts are currently listed as INACTIVE - either through being banned, requested to be "soft closed", or otherwise requiring re-activation codes - be HIDDEN or otherwise the items removed from listings and returned to the Hoard.

[+] In addition, Rabbity (#97323) raises a good point. With certain items available in game, it is possible for an item that sells normally for well over 100 GB to be bought for 99999 SB - roughly 84 GB - to be bought out for that kind of price if someone actually had that SB or was determined enough.

[+] Additionally, it would be more intuitive to make the default price set to zero SB and zero GB and not show up at all until a price is entered. This would completely eliminate inactive listings, and additionally would allow players to keep things on their branches until they're ready to price them, such as things chosen to be sold during certain months when prices are highest, and not be lost in "buried".

If you don't support, I'd like to know why. I appreciate constructive criticism over a simple "no".

This suggestion has 1359 supports and 8 NO supports.

Maybe there could be an option to enter the price before you push the button "Put on Branch"?

Regardless of what is done to inactive accounts, I would really support having the default price be set to 0 SB 0 GB, so you have to manually enter your own price to list anything.

It's only due to this thread that I learned that 99999 SB is the default price. (I've had a branch for a while, but never listed anything except just now to test this.) Previously, I assumed it was the maximum price and people were using it to make "joke" or "display" listings. Either way, it is astronomically higher than the vast majority of items I see listed with it.

For example, I was looking for warthog carcasses to make rawhide, only to find nearly a full page of 99999 SB listings, with no SB listings below that. Surely nobody's buying a single one-use carcass for the equivalent of 84 GB? What's even the point of having it listed, then?

The way I see it, regardless of whether the accounts are active or not - (and keep in mind, many I've seen are active, so clearing inactivity won't fix everything) - these listings as a whole are, in my opinion, functionally spam. No one will ever buy them, so they just take up space and frustrate people who actually want the item.

...Of course, if someone actively wants to list a valuable item for that price, let them do so. But the fact that it's the default seems to be a pretty big issue because of how many people apparently don't change it for items that would (by all common logic) be much less expensive otherwise.

Kitter [Main] (#158699) :: Exactly. It's spam. They need to be set to 0 SB and 0 GB and remain unlisted until a price is set. Honestly I'm just surprised it's been left this long when it's very clearly an issue.

Thank you so much for the feedback and support.

I've adjusted this section:

[+] Additionally, it would be more intuitive to make the default price set to zero SB and zero GB and not show up at all until a price is entered. This would completely eliminate inactive listings, and additionally would allow players to keep things on their branches until they're ready to price them, such as things chosen to be sold during certain months when prices are highest, and not be lost in "buried".

Additionally, I have rephrased a few things to mention that even on active accounts, the default price for new listings should not be 99999 SB, and instead 0 SB and 0 GB and not be shown until a price is entered.

Thank you for clarifying; that part about keeping items on branches until you're ready to sell them is actually really smart as well, just as a bonus to cleaning the spam, so still major support here

Mercy please, let this be a thing!

Personally, I say 0 SB and 0 GB and be hidden until priced. If people are throwing stuff on their branch to forget about it, let the rest of us forget about it too. By never knowing it was there. Other games I have played that have shops have listings hidden until actively priced by the player, so I was fairly surprised Lioden automatically priced them.

So I'm gunna guess some stuff is going on, on moderator end, because this is now a thing. However, I'm hoping this isn't the answer the devs are going with and just temporary testing. At least it seems to be being looked into.

Bringing this back up because, while the "price not set" is definitely a step in the right direction, they're still showing up in search results. I noticed this especially because Buffalo Scrotum (which I just wanted to quickly price-check) currently has over two full pages of 999999999 SB listings. It's good to have them be un-buyable, but they also should be hidden from searches, because like discussed previously, they're just spam, and really annoying to sort through for practically every item.

Yeah, this definitely is a problem. The items that are overpriced like that should at least be invisible. You have my support.

As of me posting this, there are FIVE (5) pages worth of clogged up spam listings for Buffalo Scrotums. I haven't checked other items yet, but this is absolutely ridiculous.
