The secure feature is basically pointless - all it does is keep you from chasing, killing, or preserving a lion/ess. You can still sell them and lose them in a bunch of other ways.

Case in point, and my major objection:

I had two adols that were 1 year and 11 months yesterday. One was a tree adol, the other was my secured ebony daughter. They both aged up, but I only had space for one. You know who stayed? The tree adol. The ebony that I had specifically secured was the one who 'ran away' due to lack of space. Now, I understand if a secured lion runs away due to lack of food/mood. That's a game mechanic, and a core one. But if you have 2 adols aging up, and one is secured, that one should take priority and get the slot. In addition, you shouldn't be able to put them up for sale. You should have to remove the secure label before you sell them, like you have to remove it if you want to chase/kill/preserve them. Same for sending them to the Enclave.

Make secure actually keep your family safe!

I was meaning to make a suggestion about this after I lost my first Ferus because of the stupid gorilla. I also lost a sunset heir the same way, I had him labeled as Sunset and secured. But then I stupidly gave him to the gorilla, and I still feel like crap about it. And I know I was stupid as it was my fault, but still...

My ferus, I guess that was my fault too because I didn't label her as Ferus.

So please if anyone sees this, refrain from telling me I should have done so. I know I f'd up and I still feel horrible about those stupid mistakes. But I do agree with secure actually securing favorites, like a rare mutie or a base that you adore.

Don't feel bad, I've put the wrong cubs up for sale half a dozen times before I started specifically naming them things like "cub1, cub2". That's the whole point of the topic. Secure should actually do its job and prevent these kind of accidents

I'd personally prefer secured lions to remain tradeable - I don't mind that feature, and especially with very expensive lions eg hybrids I really wouldn't want to have to un-secure them in order to sell them, and then risk them being able to be accidentally chased etc in the meanwhile. That's way more of a risk than I want to take with valuable lions that I'm selling :(

I do agree with the idea that secured lions could get priority over unsecured ones when you run out of territory space though, that seems really useful.

I'm a bit confused by the gorilla enclave comment, because it's already an existing feature that secured lions cannot be given to the gorilla.

Having secured lions take priority when multiple adolescents are aging would be useful. Do you know what currently determines which lion runs off and which one stays, or is it just random?

absolutely agree! i doubt it would be that hard to edit the code to randomize the aging *unsecured* lions FIRST for running away, and then if there are still more aging up after all those run, just revert to the present code AFTER already eliminating unsecured girls— i didn't know for MONTHS that securing didn't actually prevent girls from running away, and i thought i just kept forgetting to secure them, but once my heir ran away i realized that secure was just not what i thought it was
