This is an official clan thread for the Writers' Den Clan!

Welcome to the Writers' Den!
A place where all writers can share writings, ask for/give suggestions/criticism, or just chill out and talk!

1NGdDi4.jpg

This clan's purpose is, of course, to create a hub where writers can thrive and share work/CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, but it also serves another purpose. I and many other writers feel that we don't get enough appreciation for our work, and we know that there are a whole lot of writers out there who are afraid to share their writing with the world. So this clan serves as a place to promote the sharing/selling of writing works, and to create a safe, calm environment for budding writers to share their work without having to worry about being judged harshly.

Rules:

-If you want to advertise your writing commissions on this thread, please PM ME, the owner of this thread (#182174)! You can absolutely advertise your stuff here for a small fee!
-NO HATE, BULLYING, OR ANY FORM OF NON-CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM. This will result in you immediately being reported and/or banned from the clan.
-Have fun! Don't be afraid to share your work with us, we don't bite!
-If you want to ask me privately about your work, PM me and I'll be happy to help you out!

I wish I could really do fan fiction. I have an awesome idea for my favorite video game, which somehow got turned into a full-length movie/musical in my head. I actually wrote the title song and have a partial story to work with, but for some reason it just doesn't translate into actual writing, lol.

@Pegasus OOF writer's block can be tough, but persevere! If you work hard enough, you'll be able to write it out! I kill my writer's block by taking walks, listening to music, reading, and watching Tv.

I have a block of sorts as well. I've never actually written down my fanfics, so they all just sit in my hyperactive brain collecting dust. I recently decided to start working on one of the stories, but the main character is suffering from a family loss, and I'm pretty much in that boat right now. And while I realize it may be therapeutic to write about dealing with grief, it kind of makes me feel like breaking down. May just have to put that one on hold and move onto another for the time being.

@Arya If you feel like a story is emotionally too much right now for you (And believe me, I've been there), it's best to put it away and go back to it later. Writing about someone else going through the same problems as you doesn't usually help. If you think writing is a good coping mechanism for you, it's best to write about your personal issues and how you can help yourself deal with them.

And don't forget, I'm always here if you need to talk. <3

I don't really have intention of writing my fanfic down yet, because I'm focusing on my comic series. I'll get to it eventually. My favorite video game also influenced my comic series, and I either play it when I have writer's block or draw fan art of the two main characters.

Thanks, Kiwi <3 I'm here if you ever need to talk as well. And you're right. I think it would just be best to come back to it at a later time. Maybe try my hand at other some stories clogging my brain. Hopefully something more uplifting, too xD

My stories have some dark undertones as well - but I don't write about people. The setting is always the human world, it's just my characters are all some kind of animal. It kind of softens the blow of some of my heavier subjects and makes it relatable but also not as "up front," if you will.

I tend to gravitate towards fantasy. Kinda lets you go to another world, one where you can write things how you want them to be.

I have a lot of ideas for stories that I eventually want to write - they all have tabs on my website but most of them say "coming soon." It reminds me that I want to expand on them.

I use animals as well, and fantasy also works as a nice filter. It helps you use your own issues and struggles in life as writing material, and turn them into something positive. Writing multiple happy endings for your problem stories also helps you figure out solutions to your real-life issues.

Most of my fanfic ideas come from television shows or books that, while I did love the endings, I felt like some stuff was missing, and/or could be expanded upon. After I told my brother and a couple friends about some of my ideas, they suggested I try and turn them into stories. The thought of writing stuff for anyone online to see is kind of overwhelming, but at least aside from a couple people, no one in real life will know it's me xD

Kind of the same with my fanfic. My favorite video game has an ending that is purposely left open to interpretation, so it was perfect for adding my own story.

I get how overwhelming it is. I don't really have a lot of expectations for my comic at the moment. It had somewhat of a following for a while (at least from what I could gather from my website analytics), but real life got in the way and I stopped actively posting on Instagram and it died down to almost nothing. I'll get back into it, though. :)
