Hi there! So I know my art style has changed a good bit, but something still seems...off. Iโve been using references(real life and art references), but something is still weird about my art and idk what it is! Maybe yโall can help me? Hereโs some of my most recent examples: (Open in a new tab to see full quality!) Now I want to STRESS that I am only looking for CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM! I donโt want yโall to be rude and say some mean things! I can take constructive criticism, so let me know how to improve...if you want to! ๐ 0 players like this post! Like? |

You make very pretty cats! I'm not quite sure, but I would probably draw the cheekbones with lines to somehow shape the head so that it does not look too big Fluffy cats have kind of "sideburns", so it's probably better to highlight the cheekbones somehow. In short-haired cats, these lines are more noticeable and draw them, in principle, a little differently. But this is so, my reflections. I do about the same with dogs and wolves. I think you need to look at the anatomy of the facial muscles. It helps me personally. 0 players like this post! Like? |

For example, here are the tutorials that I use. You just draw as many as you can to better remember their location. https://www.deviantart.com/felisglacialis/art/Felines-vs-Canines-tutorial-Faces-808811315 Here these lines are drawn for different species and breeds of cats. 0 players like this post! Oh gosh yeah youโre art is so beautiful, maybe try adding more definition to the fur, like shading and such. Iโm working on it myself, let me see if I have any helpful links and such. 0 players like this post! Like? |

In the beginning, I was also not very good with shading (and now I don't really like the way it looks), but I have tutorials on shading. You can choose the option that would be to your liking. https://www.deviantart.com/tamberella/art/Long-Fur-Shading-Tutorial-251600522 https://www.deviantart.com/tamberella/art/Giant-Shading-Tutorial-251104611 0 players like this post! I'd suggest researching, watching, drawing as many anatomy tips as you can when it comes to cats. Since there's so many breeds of domestic cats, there's quite a few different bone and muscle structures, especially when it comes to the face and cheekbones! Some tips I can give when studying from reference: - Look for references (for practice) that are light and that you can see the way the fur flows over the muscles of the face/body - Draw fur in the direction of the muscles helps me a lot, especially when it comes to action shots - Take note of the way light plays on the fur when shading/highlighting, there's a TON of helpful tutorials on youtube! Aaron Blaise is a master at drawing/painting animals - Be confident in making mistakes, not every bit of lineart and colour has to be exact, just go for it! 0 players like this post! Like? |
