~Welcome To The Vale~

Here in this dark, mysterious wood, a curse is said to lie upon it. For the sun offers its light for only a mere five hours each day, before plunging the land in unnatural darkness and mist.
Most of the creatures that live here have evolved and adapted to a nocturnal lifestyle, some in very unsettling ways, and others...in ways was that are down right terrifying.
One such creature is the wolf,
In this wood they have developed night vision so advanced that sunlight actually hurts their eyes, making them strictly nocturnal. Their claws are sharper, more curved like a cats, their paws more flexible, giving them the ability to climb trees.
Why would a wolf need to climb trees you ask?
Well you would want to stay off the ground to, if you were being hunted.
In these woods, the wolves are actively hunted...by another species of wolves. That's right, here in the Vale, there are two evolved wolf species, and while one has sprung forward in evolution, the other seems to have gone backwards.
The second wolf species occupying the Vale are known as Manducat, a Latin phrase that aptly means, 'Eats Everything.'
These wolves are huge wispy furred creatures, with scary long claws, ratty tails and short snouts. The biggest ones grow as tall and wide as a bull moose, and as they are named, They. Eat. Everything, including each other. They are not smart creatures, letting instinct rule them, but their skin is tough, hard to pierce, and their bite is so filthy it causes nearly immediate infection. To face down a Manducat is to invite disaster.

[Vale Wolves Quick Facts]
-Night vision so advanced the night is like day.
-Sunlight actually hurts their eyes
-Can go up to 3 months without eating
-Excellent climbers
-They are nomads with no set territory and travel where there are the least threats
-They don't howl or make much noise, communicating in soft barks/woofs and growls at a low frequency akin to that of elephants. The nearly inaudible sound can carry for miles
-Manducat and Vale wolves have superior senses of hearing and smell, but Manducat have horrid vison.
-Pups can climb at as early as six weeks, and begin learning as early as three weeks, though are clumsy.
-If needed, vale wolves can carry young pups on their backs. The pups can cling securely with sharp claws.
