The tribes of Mera had united with each other. However they still wished to keep their people strong. They did not want to becaome harmless with peace. So the trials were set up. Once a year the trials are held. The contestants are those that are 20 that year. The Trials consist of a long adventure with many dangerous creatures. Some are magical and some are not. Some may die in the trials. If one can't go on any more they can signal for help but they must go into the trials the next year. However it is perfered to die than to ask for help as it is very shameful to not complete it.
At the end there is a tournament against each other. If you have formed an alliance with someone you don't have to fight them. This is allowed and accepted. So sometimes the trials do not have one if all the competitors are alianced to each other.
