Where the winds flows between the petals of strange looking flowers and mountains loom over the tallest of abandoned skyscrapers, Leoptar's hunting grounds are found. These sentient territorial creatures whom are both extremely aggressive, protective and caring, watch over territory with fierce devotion. Agile like any, they are considered the protectors of the land and expected to be treated with respect.


✶⊶⊷⊶⊷⊶⊷⊷ Species characteristics ⊶⊷⊶⊷⊷⊶⊷✶

Leoptars are mammal, social creatures who live in packs led by the most two experienced members, normally being the older ones . They can either be a pair of male and female, or both being of the same sex. Everyone works together and share tasks, with males having heightened senses to detect even the tiniest change in the wind, and females proudly standing as the muscle of the hunt. They are crepuscular creatures, meaning they are more active at dawn/dusk times.

As prey they hunt are normally bigger and stronger than Leoptars, these creatures tend to form organized hunting groups, with one female and male staying behind to take care of the cubs - if any are present. The male and young females are tasked with following the scent of prey and running them down towards the bigger members, who then overwhelm and finish the tired creatures off.

It's worth to mention Leoptars are mainly quadrupeds animals, but can and will stand on their hind legs when a boost of speed is needed, keeping a perfect balance with their strong and flexible tails, to intimidate potential threats or during the Mating Dance. As runners and being smaller, males tend to adapt this position more commonly than females do, who get easily tired if they try to keep it up for long periods of time.

Normally, each pack has around 10 females and 2 males. When cubs reach the adolescent age, be it either male or female, and tought every skill they need to fend for themselves, they are sent for the quest to find or form their own pack. Outsiders are highly appreciated as to keep a high genetic pool within their ranks, but also must pass the Joining ritual, consisting of a time period of approval filled with test, from hunting to babysitting or watching over the territory.

As a special characteristic, their eyes are luminescent, same as their blood, making them show a special glow in the shadow. It also expresses their overall mood: the brighter they are, the farther you should be from them.

They name each other after nature objects/flora/fauna, be it flowers, trees, elements, etc. Any language is permitted but must be written in English (for better understanding, thanks!).

Leoptars tend to sleep together, mostly softly touching the males, whom senses normally tend to be a blessing and a curse as any small sound make them alert and jumpy, specially during extreme weather.


FEMALES



• Bigger and stronger than the males, sacrificing a bit of agility for raw power.
• Lack of full mane and tail feathers.
• They are more common in packs than males, with a 70% birth rate.


MALES



• Smaller, agile, have hightened senses.
• Full mane, more fur overall present and vibrant tail feathers used for the mating dance. All of them are also used to keep the fur-less cubs warm.
• Birthrate of 30%.
