Two clans, forced to live in close quarters with one another for many moons. Until now they have lived in peace and respected one another's differences, sometimes even coming together outside of the gathering in order to share tongues and celebrate a clan's achievements. The clan's leaders trusted and depended on one another in the past, though with the fall of GreenwoodClan's former leader things have taken a turn down a new path.

The new leader has a different perspective on life and finds CoveClan's dependency on twolegs distasteful, sickening even. Spurred by this and their own selfish reasoning, they have called off all truces with their neighbours and fully intend to cause bloodshed if the right moment arises. This has caused chaos in both clans. For CoveClan, they are preparing for a war they had never expected and for GreenwoodClan, allegiances are being made between those who are in favor of their new leader's standpoint and those who oppose it. Troubling times are ahead for all cats caught in this feud. What lengths will both clans go to in order to prevent or provoke this war?

Smokeclaw | GreenwoodClan | Mentions: (Indirect) Cricketleap, Sootpaw, leader(s)

Smokeclaw was use to being up quite early for the day, but that didn't make him a morning person. Getting up was easy, but still tiring. It didn't help either that he was a night-owl. Looking over the camp, all the younglings seemed to be awake, and hopefully safe. There was always a threat from loners, of course. He had heard before stories about...certain cats. They could especially use the dense fog as an advantage to an attack, if they risked the chance. Coming back to his senses, he might as well not stand there like nothing. He wasn't the type of eavesdrop, but a casual conversation wouldn't do anything. "Are we hunting or checking the border? I'm sure we could handle any task though, right Maislpaw?" he heard Cricketleap ask, not asking him obviously. The she-cat was a newer warrior, and the aunt of his apprentice. The molly had never really bothered him, and he was greatful for that. His definition of bothering was very complicated.

So on again, he sighed. Sootpaw had awoken early enough that he wasn't agitated, the youngling had started catching up with his expectations nowadays. Sootpaw was his first apprentice, and he wanted him to succeed. Smokeclaw knew that he was a bit harsh, and that he was quite intimidating for the younglings, but he continued.

Then, the high authority; Smokeclaw was never exactly buddy-to-buddy with any of the leaders in his clan he had lived during their reign. They always gave off that, you don't want to even look at me type of mood to him. But at the same time, he was that exact definition too. He only followed their rule because the clan followed it too, rebelling would be devastating, and he wasn't thinking about that at any time.

He saw his own daughter in the distance, he had no longer worried too much about her. She was old enough to take care of herself, but he still kept a distance look-out for her. Fawnpaw might be old enough to help out, but she wasn't a warrior.

Fawnpaw | GreenwoodClan | Mentions: (Indirect) Mothlight, Maislpaw

Fawnpaw had awoken from her slumber, looking around to see that the dawn had already started. She got up accordingly, hoping that she hadn't woken up late. She knew that Mothlight wouldn't be pleased if so. Her mentor was always a bit strict and cold. Not that she hated her mentor, she looked up to him! She looked around, noticing another tri-colored kitty other than her father. Maislpaw; the other apprentice looked almost exactly like her, and he was the same age too. Fawnpaw had suspicions that the tom could be her lost twin that she didn't know about, but she was sure her mother and father would've known if he was their son. It must've been a coincidence for such similar traits.

The other tom was busy, however. She thought about exploring, but would Mothlight approve of that? She was no longer a kit; but exploring still could be a risk. The birds, flowers, greenery and foliage was asking her to go. It was clear, her answer was no. Her wishes to explore had to be suppressed now that she was older.

Geckokit| CoveClan-- Camp| Mentions- Wavestorm, Pebbleleap (directly), Blade (indirectly)

Geckokit shook her head. "They never forgive..." she said almost inaudibly, before falling silent. Her head turned back towards the tree. All seemed normal about it, but Geckokit's attention was locked on it. Nothing was wrong with the tree... until it started to move.

Blade| CoveClan-- Tree Above Camp---> Camp Entrance| Mentions- Geckokit, Wavestorm, Pebbleleap

The dark Maine Coon swore to itself as a few cats below started talking. The smallest cat, a kit, Blade supposed, was staring directly up at it. The huge cat stiffened, hoping the small kitty turned her gaze away from it, but the young cat didn't avert her gaze. Annoyance blew through Blade. Its fun spying moment was ruined because of some nosy little kit. It snarled, then started rapidly descending from the tree. It leaped the last few branches down to the ground. The huge cat paused in the camp entrance to glare at the kitten with rage and revenge-filled eyes, before the dark figure bolted back into the forest. Where could Asmodeus be...? It wondered. It hadn't seen him for a while, perhpas it should say hello.

Heatherpaw | GreenwoodClan Apprentice | Location: Coveclan/Greenwoodclan Border
Mentions: Snailwhisper

Heatherpaw carefully wove through the branches of a tree she was perched on, pupils narrowed into serpent like slits as they remained trained onto the gray furred form of a squirrel. Just as she had wormed her way to the same branch it was on however, she applied too much weight to a single step, causing the branch to wobble just slightly. Unfortunately for her, it was just enough movement for the squirrel to immediately dart away, too fast for Heatherpaw to consider chasing. Blegh. Heather's tail lashed ans she let out a small, exasperated huff, lifting herself from her hunting crouch and watching where the squirrel disappeared to while she plopped herself on her rump, tail flicking. Atleast Dovegaze wasn't as much as a strict mentor, if she had a mentor like Swanstar she'd get chewed out for staying so long out of camp only to come back empty pawed. Heatherpaw began to groom the plumage around her chest before the snap of a twig made her still, then the scurrying of tiny paws over dead leaves littered on the forest floor. Peering down at the forest floor, Heather spotted the brown body of a mouse scurrying about a distance away, and luckily for her, it was scurrying in her direction.

Heatherpaw crouched once again, this time simply watching as it got closer and closer with her tail hanging under her, flicking to the side as she concentrated on her prey. Her muscles bunched as it scurried nearly completely underneath where she was perched at, and once it busied itself by rummaging through the leaves and moved an inch closer, Heatherpaw dropped from the branch. She landed squarely on top of it, dead leaves crunching loudly underneath her, and to anyone watching it appeared as if she showed up out of nowhere, the mouse's shrill squeak cut off by a nip o the spine. Stepping off of her kill, Heatherpaw looked it up and down carefully, before letting out a proud huff. "Ooo a plump one, Annnnd it came from Coveclan territory. Too bad for them." She said, her hushed words mostly to herself s she casted a small glance over the border only to see another cat staring at her. It was another molly, bu the look of it, and Heatherpaw froze for a few heartbeats, surprised to see someone else. Heather's never really met a Coveclan cat before, well, she has, but not when she was completely alone.

Scooping some dead leaves over her kill, Heatherpaw glanced at the other molly, head tilting heavily to the side as she went to speak. "Hi Coveclanner! Were you mousewatching, or stalking?"Oddly enough, she didn't sound accusing or hostile at all, instead she appeared quite friendly, albeit wary.

Fern| Mentions- nobody

Fern woke up, with a foul taste in his mouth, as he nestled into his nest made of dried ferns, which his mother had made before she passed. He sniffed the crisp air and immediately sat up. He was cold and hungry, and finally decided to try to hunt today. He stepped out of the nest for the first time and was hit with a cool breeze. The wind ruffled through his fur, giving him the chills. He started walking towards what he did not know was Coveclan's territory.

Sturgeon| CoveClan/GreenwoodClan Borders| Mentions- Heatherpaw, Snailwhisker

Sturgeon shook the muddy wet leaves off her paws as she trotted along the border. The scales she held in her jaws were slightly uncomfortable, but her home was close. She paused to place the caiman scales down, then tried her best to spit out the salty blood in her mouth. She gathered the reptile scales back up with a grimace. The huge ragdoll kept on walking along the border, before stopping again after hearing a voice not too far away. What could be happening... The curious she-cat padded closer, keeping the bundle of scales in her jaws. Sturg poked her head through a thicket, seeing a couple figures ahead. She then tried to withdraw her head, but her fluffy face and neck entangled with the thorny branches. "Eck-" she yelped, muffled by the bloody trophies she carried. Sturgeon tried to pull herself out, but the stupid thicket refused to released her.

Pebbeleap | CoveClan Deputy | Location: CoveClan camp.
Mentions: Geckokit, Wavestorm, Blade. (Directly.) Leopardstar. (Indirectly.)

"I mean- I was up early and not on patrol so I thought I'd see if I can hunt before the day begins." She listened to the warrior's stammering quietly. Her gaze narrowed slightly in thought as he mentioned a hunt. A soft gust of wind carried from the ocean washed over her fluffy coat, causing her to close her eyes only for a moment. "I actually just found her a moment ago. Kits shouldn't be away from their mothers and it's dangerous to be alone- oh, but I'm not sure what she's talking about..." She rubbed a small bit of sand out of her eyes and blinked slightly. She hummed in response, "Again- Thank you." She managed to meow out after a moment, ignoring his curiosity about her kit's rambling. "As for a hunt, it would be greatly appreciated. If that's what you're keen on doing today..." She added, glancing down at Geckokit just as she mumbled something out and stared off into the distance. As she was turning her head to follow the young cat's gaze, a resounding 'thud' caused her fur to fluff out in alarm. She hopped to her paws and whirled around, just catching a glimpse of the strange cat as they bolted away from camp and disappeared into the trees. A soft, growl-like noise came from her maw and her mottled ears flattened against her head. Who was that? Coveclan? A rogue? She cast a worried gaze towards Wavestorm before bending down and snagging Geckokit by the scruff of her neck. "I must report to Leopardstar." She murmured out through a mouthful of fur before turning to hurry back towards the ship, kit dangling gently from her teeth.

Fern|CoveClan Territory|Mentions- nobody

Fernkit stumbled into what he did not know was CoveClan territory, and made his way towards the scent of a familiar animal, a small baby mouse, and he crouched into the soft grass, attempting to locate the animal. He finally spotted the small critter and he kept his eyes on it, he slowly crept up on it, and jumped at it. It scurried away before he could land on it, leaving Fern with sore paws. He shook due to starvation, and just lay in the grass, passed out from exhaustion.

Cricketleap
Molly | GreenwoodClan | Warrior | 2 years
Mentions:
Silverheart + Maislpaw - Directly
Flurrymoth + Sunstorm - Indirectly

Cricketleap gave an enthusiastic nod. Hearing the fact that she was in charge of an apprentice was exciting news to her. Maislpaw was older, perhaps almost ready to be a warrior, but still being in charge of an apprentice was exciting!
"Thank you, Silverheart!" she meowed, dipping her head as the clan's deputy headed off to what she assumed was more of their duties.

The warrior's gaze fell on Maislpaw's face as his mentor walked off and she felt her excitement dim a bit as she wondered if the pair got along well. "Well," she meowed as she stretched her long legs out and flexed her claws against the stones.
"I don't think Flurrymoth or Sunstorm are around at the moment sooo perhaps we could do some practice of battle moves or something?" Surely Silverheart wouldn't mind, the morning was early and there was plenty of time for patrols still.

SmokeClaw - directly

Having avoided actually talking to his mentor, and the clan for that matter, for as long as he figured was acceptable, Sootpaw got to his paws and gave a slight shake of his fur before taking a shaky step from the shadowy yet warm nest of his. He would have liked to stay where it was safe and warm, but in his months of training he had become accustomed to waking around the time Smokeclaw had.
Weaving through the camp he looked over to see his aunt, social as always, speaking to Silverheart and their apprentice. Part of him wanted to join the comfort of her familiar presence but he knew she'd just 'encourage' him to do something that wasn't at her side. He almost longed for the days she visited him in the nursery and showed him everything she was learning, but Cricketleap told him after his first day as an apprentice that it 'was time he start spreading his wings'. Whatever that meant.

Sootpaw was pulled from his thoughts of his kithood when he reached Smokeclaw, nearly walking straight into the older cat.
"Hello." he greeted his mentor, his tone a bit tense and unsure as he tried to gauge Smokeclaw's mood this morning and avoiding direct eye contact. "Uh, I'm ready for whatever you have planned today."
Sootpaw had always found it hard to talk to his mentor, or any older cat besides Cricketleap really if he was honest. He was never quite sure what to say to them. Simple was usually best though he figured. The less he said and more he listened then there was less he had to worry about and less he could mess up.

Geckokit + Pebbleleap - Directly
Blade? - Indirectly?? ((I think??))

"Yes of course. Should I bring-" the gray tom's question was cut off as a sound came from the tree Geckokit was obsessing over. Wavestorm's attention turned to the sound and narrowed his eyes to try and see anything. There wasn't much to see however and Wavestorm looked over to meet Pebbleleap's worried gaze. A CoveClan cat wouldn't be sneaking around and dashing off into the shadows, he was quite sure of that. Was it GreenwoodClan? No, they would have known their scent well enough to recognize it, right?
His gaze flicked to Geckokit and for half a moment he wondered if she knew something before Pebbleleap grabbed her kit and mumbled something about reporting to Leopardstar. He took a step after the clan deputy before pausing and looking again from where the sound came from. He pricked his ears to listen for anything more. Nothing he could hear, at least not over the sound of the nearby water.

Wavestorm paused for a moment to consider going to try and search for whoever made that noise but flashes of what happened to his mother the last time he went off alone flashed in his mind and he swore he could feel his old scar sting. Then again, if any clanmates were out alone and it was a danger they might need help soon.
With a frustrated sigh Wavestorm turned and made his way back into camp. Cats who were out should be in groups he figured, and he didn't want to be missing if there really was something important. He may not feel much like he belonged, but no cat could say he wasn't loyal to his clan and home.

'This better be the right choice.' he thought to himself as he stopped and grabbed his little catch before heading into the clan's camp where he could drop it off on the fresh kill pile, deciding to leave the cool stone for now.

Leopardstar | Coveclan Leader | Location: Coveclan Camp | Mentions: Pebbleleap, Geckokit, Wavestorm

As the leader watched cats rustle around, the big feline spotted his most faithful deputy. He watched as Pebbleleap jumped and became startled. The patchy cat stood up immediately at his deputy's behavior. The feline trotted over to the scene as the other cat picked up the kitten and started to walk away. Leopardstar flicked his tail in greeting to Wavestorm and muttered a hello. The kit that looked like.. Geckokit. That was the name of them. They were an odd one after all but why was the kit so far from the nursing den? And why are they muttering nonsense? Leopardstar moved his ear in dismissal and finally spoke a word to the deputy. "Morning, Pebbleleap. You seem to be awfully busy today, huh?" The cat jested to let off any tension. The female appeared anxious and the leader wanted to alleviate some. Surely, it could have a good reason but you do need a clear head to think. "Ah, Pebble, by the way, I noticed that you jumped around back there? What was it?" Leopardstar was quick to the point. Perhaps she was spooked by a leaf or it was something... more dangerous that he couldn't see.

Snailwhisper | Coveclan Warrior | Location: Coveclan/Greenwod Clan border | Mentions: Heatherpaw, Sturgeon

The molly was watching the mouse scurry around before it suddenly met its doom. It happened so suddenly that it could have killed Snailwhisper herself just by surprise. The female skyrocketed into the air, the complete opposite of the other feline. One came down while the other went up. Snailwhisper landed on her feet and watched as the stranger began talking to the dead prey. In short, she was frozen in fear. The other feline was definitely from Greenwood Clan but she was noticeably smaller than Snailwhisper. Definitely way younger than her. Perhaps an apprentice of some sort? The fur on her back stood up, but not from hostility. More so to make herself appear bigger, in case the other cat was hostile. The tan molly spoke up as she covered her kill. "Hi Coveclanner! Were you mousewatching, or stalking?" No aggression was in her tone, and it was laced with curiosity. Snailwhisper lowered her fur ever so slightly as she spoke up. "I-I was just.. uh.. uh.. mouse-mousewatching." The cat stammered out.

Just as Snailwhisper finished her introduction, a grunt came out of nowhere. The cat flicked to where the noise came from and met the eyes of a bodyless cat. The brown-furred feline jumped in the air for the second time in less than five minutes and fur stood on her edge again. She landed softly and looked back once again at the newfound stranger. It didn't smell of CoveClan or Greenwood clan.. but Snail didn't really know much about the rival clan's cats. She raised her paw up slightly, getting ready for an escape just in case this new cat was dangerous.

GreatWings | CoveClan warrior | CoveClan camp | Mentions; BrokenPeach [directly] DawnStream, BerryPaw [indirectly]

"Greatwings! Good morning. How are you fairing this morning?" GreatWings halted his aimless wandering as the tom's voice met his ears. He turned around with a warm, charming grin on his face, giving BrokenPeach a quick glance-over before he spoke. "Wotcher, mate. I'm doing well this forenoon, what about yourself?" The bicolored cat's accent was thick and heavy, as per usual, making him sound rather proper. His tail swayed gently behind him, considering any past interactions with the warrior that stood before him. He couldn't recall any particular time when the two had spoken, but he didn't really care much- as long as they were here in the present, right? His gaze flickered over to their red-furred medicine cat and his apprentice as they left camp in a hurry. Looked like it would be an early morning for them, as usual. His eyes landed on his counterpart once more. "How was the hunt?" His inquiry was gentle- he knew some other warriors tended to tease the one-eyed warrior rather often, and he was trying not to draw attention to that, if something had happened during the dawn patrol. "I see that you've caught summat. That's good, right?"

DawnStream | CoveClan medicine cat | CoveClan camp | Mentions; BerryPaw [directly]

DawnStream's ears twitched at the soft sound of paws against wood, not bothering to look up as he secured as many of the bitter herbs as he could in his jaws. "You need help?" He blatantly ignored that question, lifting his head away from the pile and padding over to the exit. She already knew the answer, and even if he wanted to say something, he couldn't. His mouth was already stuffed with old herbs. He gave her a mere glance to confirm that she was doing as expected, before beginning to move forwards again with a distinctive flick of his tail. It was a clear sign for the she-cat to follow him. His calloused pads touched the wood of the ship lightly as he traversed through a few different rooms to reach an exit; one of many cat-sized holes in the side of the structure. He slipped through with ease, leading himself across camp quickly and easily disregarding his clanmates. Unless one of them happened to be sick, none of them were of his concern at the moment. He paused where the first signs of forest began to spring up, glancing back at BerryPaw briefly to make sure that she was following. His paws now tread across grass as he took long, graceful strides forwards, heading for a small area that was somewhat of an 'herb-dump'. It was a tiny clearing he often preferred to leave bad herbs in, as they were usually all gone by the next time he returned- he assumed that deer or birds took the discarded plants for themselves. When they finally arrived, he hurried to the middle, dropping his load and turning away to take a deep inhale through parted lips. Almost as if to rid himself of the bitter taste left behind on his tongue and throat. Perhaps it is time to test BerryPaw again. His eyes finally settled on his apprentice once more, waiting for her to relieve herself of her bundle as well before he spoke. "We need dock, sorrel, goldenrod, poppy seeds, chervil, stinging nettle, tansy, and water mint. If you can show me where at least three of those reside and successfully pick them, then you have the chance- if you wish- to be relieved of removing the elders' ticks this evening. If not, you will have to do so as soon as we return camp and will otherwise resume your duties as per usual." He paused, casting a sharp glance towards the sky. They had plenty of time, but he would he sure to hurry her if he thought they'd been gone for too long. "Go on."

Asmodeus | Rogue | Outside of territories | Mentions; Sin [directly]

"Asmo, is your fur going to impair your ability to hunt? Cause I'm hungry and I'm going hunting.." A brow raised at the nonsensical inquiry. "What a silly question! Of course it wouldn't, dear." Asmodeus made another quick attempt to force his fur- which was, in fact, beginning to stand up in the dampness of the fog- back into it's usual style, before leading the way forwards. "Come now, dear sibling~ Like every old, dispatched she-cat likes to say, the early bird gets the worm!" With that he slipped away into the mask of moisture that lingered visibly in the air, letting his paws lead him forwards with ease. He didn't bother to make sure that Sin was following, as he was sure that they'd be able to figure it out. He paused at the edge of a decent-sized clearing, parting his jaws briefly to see if he could taste any scents besides that of the moist air surrounding them. It was, indeed, a rather creepy sight. Despite his clear beauty, he would seem ghostly and sinister just from a short distance away. Like a dark forest cat, coming back to haunt you... He chuckled at that thought before taking a deep inhale. It was faint, but the smell of rabbit was loitering around ahead of them, perhaps just across the clearing. He looked over his shoulder to Sin. "Well, go ahead. There's your breakfast. I'll catch the next one." As he finished speaking, he sat down daintily, tail laying over his soft paws neatly.

Brokenpeach | CoveClan Warrior | Location: CoveClan territory - CoveClan camp.
Mentions: Greatwings.

"Wotcher, mate. I'm doing well this forenoon, what about yourself?" He finally looked up from his preening as the older tom replied at last. His ears twitched slightly as he quietly admired the other cat's thick accent. It was a bit hard to understand at times, but Brokenpeach found it lovely nonetheless. As they finished speaking, Brokenpeach opened his own maw to reply. "I'm doing just fine as well." He purred out, following Greatwings' gaze as he studied the cats coming to and from camp. "How was the hunt?" His attention immediately snapped back onto the other warrior. Despite how gently the words had been spoken, he found himself cringing a bit at the question. "Ah- Well, it went as well as it could have." He replied, his voice still soft but a bit forced now. He threw in a half-hearted laugh to lighten his own spirits and to hopefully mask the distress. "I see that you've caught summat. That's good, right?" His half-broken gaze slid over to the kill pile. He tilted his head slightly, a vaguely sad expression washing over his features for a mere second. "I suppose so." He murmured with a soft hum. "I mean- Of course. It's best to keep everyone fed." He shook his head and quickly corrected his dejected attitude.

Pebbeleap | CoveClan Deputy | Location: CoveClan camp.
Mentions: Geckokit, Leopardstar.

Pebbleleap only slowed to a stop as Leopardstar appeared from camp and began to wander her way. She stooped over and sat Geckokit back down at her paws, her tail lashing back and forth in an irritated manner. It was plain for any cat to see the blatant concern on her face and features. "Morning, Pebbleleap. You seem to be awfully busy today, huh?" She collected herself and took in a long breath, turning her head to peer behind her. Her narrowed gaze kept trained on the last place she had seen the strange cat disappear. "Very much so, Leopardstar." Her voice was laced with a serious tone. "Ah, Pebble, by the way, I noticed that you jumped around back there? What was it?"

She whipped her head back around at the inquiry. Her ears pinned back slightly as she considered telling him of the encounter. What if it turned out to be nothing more than a Coveclan warrior pulling a prank? The thought itself made her coat prickle from annoyance. No. I didn't recognize that cat, and it's best to play it safe. She cleared her throat before speaking at last. "There was a strange cat in our territory, this close to camp." She hissed, her tail beginning to flick back and forth once again. "They were so close to Geckokit- I didn't see them until they ran into the trees." Her eyes went wide for a moment then narrowed again in a glare. I wasn't paying enough attention. What if something had happened? Quietly cursing herself in her head, she instinctively placed her paws closer to the kit sitting in front of her.
