Hi! Astral is not a combo base factor, however, you can list the best bases for people to use if they want an Astral based cub.

Those would be anything Red Light Countershaded on the Wiki.

Fuchsia, Blazing, Sunrise, Ancestral, then Maroon, Fiery, etc.

The only bases that have additional requirements like wet/dry season, etc, are combo bases. Your king's base is not a factor for any combo bases (at least not yet) - as you can check here: link.

So there's no need to give any specific advice/instructions. You king can pass his own base (rarely), same as any special. Or other bases that are based on how his genetic category matches up with the lioness's. But that's all just standard and what anyone would expect from studding - there's no real point you giving examples because it entirely depends what category the lioness is in, which could be any. Since the special base system was revamped recently (News post here) there's no advantage to breeding specifically to bases in the same genetics category for a greater chance of Astral passing either. Bred to any special at all he would have the same 2% chance of passing Astral, except for Astral x Astral which would be doubled to 4% - because both parents would have that 2% chance.

Likewise bred to any rare/uncommon he would have a 2% chance of passing Astral, or 1% bred to any common. The roll for specials is now separate from the normal roll for genetics category, so the other parent doesn't need to be similar to maximise chances.
