I am so done with putting blankets on my flowers at night... I swear.

My heart is still beating pretty fast and I'm still freaked out. Why?

Two weeks ago, heard a blood curdling scream. What was it? Rabbit. Presumably being captured by a fox or an owl. I have a healthy red fox population around my house. Rabbits scream when captured by a predator.

Tonight? Vixen screaming

What makes them so scary? I am not expecting it. I know foxes kill rabbits, heck owls do too. And coyotes. I have all three.

The vixen? That's where the legend of the banshee scream originated. I've heard the bark a few times, but the scream always scares me.

I'm so used to barred owls, great horned owls and screech owls. I'm going to try hooting like a great horned owl next time I hear the vixen and see if she stays quiet long enough for me to finish covering my flowers.
