(( just gonna put some starters around..

Drift’Paw
WindClan Camp to Territory back to Camp
Open

Drift’Paw woke up early in the morning, the sun barely crawling up over the horizon. The lanky gray tom yawned and shuffled to his feet. He stretched, before making his way to the center of camp. The pale light of the sun was just making its way to light up the dew covered grass. Drift’Paw waited around for a moment, before turning and slipping out of camp. The young tom enjoyed sneaking out of camp as much as possible. The more time he can spend out running the fields, the more he felt actually free. Away from the demanding natures of clanmates. It wasn’t their fault though, he just needed some time for himself every once in a while.

Drift’Paw took off across the open land, over the rolling hills. A stray rabbit scent crossed his nose, but he ignored it, charging faster. This wasn’t the time for a hunt, but for the freedom of his sprint through the open land. It wasn’t long before he was tired though, huffing and slowing to a walk. He looked back, and made his toward camp. The sun had climbed up higher, to properly fit the time of dawn. Once Drift’Paw had recovered, he picked up a trot and hurried back to camp. As he slunk back through the entrance he looked around for any of his clanmates to bother.

Paleheart found himself in the middle of a moor. Open land with mini hills and dips found in abundance. He didn’t remember leaving camp, giving a check of his surroundings showed grassy fields with shrubs rustling in the wind. There! Out of the corner of his eyes. A white squirrel! The poor thing stood out against the hues of browns and green of the landscape, prime for the taking. On autopilot his body lowered into a crouch, silently sliding through and around the tall dry grass. He wasn’t worried, he’d done this enough time, had the steps memorized. Keeping your paws swift and light as you moved, use the cover of your environment to stay hidden, inch closer and closer until you were in the best range. Now stooping a little length away, he was ready to pounce. Adrenaline surged through his veins, muscles tensing for the jump…but something was wrong.

The rodent looked fine a moment before. It’s back turned, unaware that it was being stalked. Its head rose quickly, nose twitching in the air, and Paleheart thought he was found. Sure he wasn't the best at hunting but no way did he mange to mess this up. But the white creature slowly grew into a bigger lump. Its fur changed from white to a reddish brown. Limbs elongating until it was taller, and snout lengthening until a fox stood before him. The panic knocked the air out his chest. Its sights set on the tom. The prey had become the predator. The fox let out a low snarl and with no time to think the chase was on.

He pulled his body forward. Leaping and bounding over the rise of the land in search for safety. His heart was banging rapidly against his ribs. He felt exhausted already, but he couldn’t stop. The fox was too close, could swear he heard the heavy pants behind him, could see a shadow climbing over him. He was scared, terrified of what might happen if he was caught. The warrior was alone. Would he come out of this badly wounded? Suffer something fatal? Or would this be a quick end?

Claws swiped at his back legs, knocking him unstable as he fell to the ground. A heavy body stood over him, pain was felt . The pressure too much he couldn’t breathe, couldn’t cry out in pain. Just as quickly as it started it was over. Paleheart eyes flashed open from his sleep. His eyesight was still blurry but he could make out the forms of other cats. The air smelled of moss and home. He was safe, laying in the warriors den but the dream rattled him. The pale cat still felt the tremble in his body, the uneasiness of nearly dying. With a slow rise the tom gave his fur a shake and padded towards the entrance to head off into the camp clearing. Maybe some fresh air would do him some good? Sitting out in the clearing, the warrior began cleaning his pelt. He was still frazzled about his nightmare. It showed in the raised hairs of his coat, in his frantic licking to smooth everything out to lay flat, and the anxious flicks of his tail.

Drift’Paw
WindClan Camp
Pale’Heart

As Drift’Paw looked around the camp, his eyes caught on Pale’Heart who seemed to be grooming himself furiously. Drift’Paw watched him for a second, then realized something seemed… off about the warrior. Was it just him, or was Pale’Heart usually this… twitchy? And with that grooming… he’d lick his fur out with if he kept at that for much longer. Drift’Paw lifted his head and trotted over to the warrior, stopping at the prey pile for a quick snack. The apprentice was not at all worried about the difference in experience level. He was just being a friendly clanmate!

“Hey Pale’Heart! ‘Morning! What’s up?” He asked cheerily, plopping down next to the warrior. “Somethin’ on your mind?” He took a bite from his little mouse, then paused. “Do you want me to grab you something from the prey pile? Someone got a squirrel yesterday. I thought about taking it, but figured I’d might as well leave for an actual warrior. Y’know for something different? Not ‘just another rabbit’” He let out a light laugh.

Paleheart | Windclan Camp | Mentions: Drift'Paw

The repetitive motions soothed his soul a bit, the tension beginning to ease. Things were starting to feel peaceful again, when a voice startled Paleheart from his actions. Pausing, his head whipped to the side in alarm. Oh…it was just Drift’Paw. Huffing in annoyance, the warrior flicked his ear in greeting before turning his attention back to grooming. He was a bit peeved at having his alone time interrupted but the chattering from the apprentice beside him helped keep the thoughts of nightmares away.

Paleheart kept cleaning despite the company, maybe it was rude in terms of social etiquette but the pale tom needed to redirect this energy somewhere. He half listened to the younger tom, until a buzz word reached his ears. Squirrel. Ugh! He suppressed a full body shudder. “No! That sounds absolutely revolting!”, he didn’t mean to raise his voice at the other but the older cat was still unsettled. And bad interactions with his clanmates wasn’t making anything better.

A few heartbeats of silence passed for the tom. “I’m…I’m sorry for what just happened.”, the words carrying a tone of remorse. “I had a nightmare and it left me feeling on edge”. Hopefully the Drift’Paw would accept his apology, he wasn’t purposely trying to be scathing.

Drift’Paw
WindClan Camp
Paleheart

He watched Paleheart all the while he groomed, occasionally munching on his mouse. He physically flinched back though, when the warrior spoke his true feelings about the squirrel. Drift’Paw went still, a slight bit of kit-like fear making his own fur spike up. The young tom was able to recover quickly, and was about to make his own remark when the other apologized. The young one smiled carefully.

“No, I shouldn’t have brought it up, I’m sorry. I guess I didn’t realize it was quite that bad…” He voice had gotten a little quieter, but now it leveled out to his usual cheerful tone. “I’d completely understand the revulsion to squirrels though.. that much of a fluffy tail! AUGH!” He coughed, as if he had a hairball. He hoped he could cheer the other up now. But… mentioning squirrels again probably wasn’t the best move. Drift’Paw gave a quick shake of his pelt as he finished up his breakfast. “I could just get you a rabbit though! Or! Even better! I could run out, practice some hunting skills, and catch one FRESH for you!” Though it wasn’t very likely this lanky young apprentice could actually catch a rabbit on his own, he hoped maybe the mention of such a young an inexperienced cat like himself being able to take down a massive full grown rabbit would be amusing to Paleheart. If anything, he hoped to at least make the warrior feel a little bit better. It did frighten though. Whatever it was that could worry a warrior like this, would definitely frighten an apprentice..

Paleheart | Windclan Camp | Mentions: Drift'Paw
The low sound of Drift’Paw put an uncomfortable feeling in Paleheart. Was this what they called guilt? Him? Guilty? Unlikely, but watching the usually chipper apprentice act hesitant formed a pit in his stomach. Sure Paleheart could be a bit abrasive but upsetting young ones wasn’t part of his deal.

Hearing the grey tom go from sullen to cheerful was such a relief. The older tom’s form relaxing, his tail wrapping around his paws. Paleheart surveyed passively, attempting to really listen this time. Drift'Paw seemed back to his usual theatrics, his lively energy reappearing. The other mentioned hunting. It would be…an experience. He preferred to hunt alone, it made it easier to escape watchful eyes and have some semblance of freedom. Also, the lilac cat would have to be responsible. He’d have to oversee the hunt and think about not only his safety but another cat. It all sounded like too much work…but he had nothing better to do.

Shaking his head in resignation, Paleheart raised his body and started padding towards the exit of camp. Maybe his appetite will return by then. He called over his shoulder, “Alright kit lets see what you got”.

Drift’Paw
WindClan Camp to Territory
Paleheart

- - - -

Drift’Paw bounced to his paws and hurried to catch up to Paleheart, excitement filling every inch of his body from his nose to his toes. He was mostly glad he was able to help the warrior lift his spirits, or he at least hoped that’s what this was, but he was also extremely excited to go out and hunt. He pranced happily next to Paleheart, occasionally glancing at the warrior to try and read him. The older cat seemed to be doing better, in Drift’Paw’s opinion at least. He was a little nervous about this hunt though. Drift’Paw knew he had much to learn about hunting, and he wasn’t sure if he could actually catch something for the warrior. He would try his best for Paleheart and even if he failed, it should still work as a nice distraction from whatever had been bothering the older tom before.

“Where should we go? I think I scented a rabbit in that general area not too long ago, but I can’t tell you for sure how fresh it was.” He pointed his nose to the East, the direction he had gone for a run in just this morning. He had smelled a rabbit, but he hadn’t stuck around to fully figure out the scent. He just hoped it was still somewhere near that area. Or that it even was a rabbit, now that the young apprentice thought about it, it almost could have even been some sort of mouse as well… He gave another quick shake of his pelt, and forgot all about the scent problem. “Do you think Kingle’Star would be proud to see me catch a rabbit?” He wondered absentmindedly. “Not that I need his praise, It’d just be pretty cool right?” He clarified with a bright smile at Paleheart.

((Oof sorry that took so long omg

Paleheart | Windclan territory| Mentions: Drift'Paw

Paleheart had no particular destination in mind, just letting his paws lead him through the usual scenic routes he takes. Usually he went alone, but a quick glance to his side showed Drift’Paw keeping pace. Oh yeah, he’s a mentor currently on a hunt with his apprentice. It was weird. He’d never taught an apprentice before, the task being too burdensome. Maybe he could convince Drift’Paw on skipping out their duties? But another glance showed how excited the smaller tom looked, Paleheart just couldn’t do that to him.

Hearing the others hunting suggestion, he rolled thought around in his mind. Following an old scent seemed like good tracking practice. The warrior could show him the ropes; how to identify things worthwhile and the basic moves. Well the plan sounded good, all the lilac cat needed to do was follow through with it. As the party moved Drift’Paw question caught him off guard, he couldn’t help stopping and letting out a loud huff of amusement. Without thinking the tom answered smugly, “Who cares what Kinglestar thinks?”. Wait…that didn’t sound good. “What I mean is you’re right, the only praise you need is yourself.” Explaining himself more felt pointless, he’s filled his social bar to the max and still had to progress with the plan of teaching. Idle talk could wait. Letting himself have a small stretch, Paleheart regarded the apprentice again, “Anyway, lead the way Drift’Paw. We don’t have all day”.

(nah you're good)

Drift’Paw
WindClan Territory
Paleheart

The young apprentice was a little surprised at the warrior’s direct statement to not care what Kingle’Star thought. It was a bit of a strange thing, but once Paleheart stated it out loud, it suddenly made a whole lot more sense to Drift’Paw. Why should he care about one cat’s personal opinions? All that mattered was that he had fun for himself! He couldn’t contain the Beaufort smile that followed this sudden revelation, and he grinned at the lilac warrior as though he was the sun to light up the morning. His respect for this cat had skyrocketed, such wise words from such an admirable warrior. How glad Drift’Paw was to have such a wise mentor. When Paleheart agreed, and told him to lead, he could have floated away. He made a happy noise, and bounded off in the direction he had gone earlier in the morning.

As the young cat charged off, he barely remembered to look back to make sure Paleheart was actually following. He started to slow down once he got near, before suddenly slamming to a stop, to scent the air. Sure, the scent was still near, but was it still fresh? Now that Drift’Paw was smelling it again, he was sure it had to be a rabbit! Or.. rabbit-like..

((Omg no that one took forever

Paleheart | Windclan territory| Mentions: Drift'Paw

Paleheart watched Drift’Paw practically sail across the moors, he had to quicken his pace just to keep up. Starclan, that cat is fast! He couldn't’ remember a time being this excited. Maybe when he was still an apprentice but the memories seemed so far away and blurry. No point in dwelling in the past, he had to focus on not losing the other tom.

Seeing the grey cat come to a stop ahead, Paleheart slowed his pace to stand by his side. The warrior surveyed the open land, the grassy field and hills made optimal cover for the cats; prey was bound to be nearby. Time to see his new apprentice capabilities. “I see you scenting, good. What are you picking up? What do your eyes and ears tell you?”.

(my bad it took a while, also didn't know what to say )

Drift’Paw
WindClan Territory
Paleheart

Drift’Paw focused all his senses together. His ears twitched as he listened to every little sound. His eyes scanned the grass, but he didn’t see anything yet. Just the grass waving gently in the breeze. He took another deep breath in, and rotated on his paws to face where he thought it came from. He pointed his ears forward, straining to hear the movement of the rabbit. His tail flicked back and forth.

“I-I think there’s a rabbit in the direction…” He mumbled. “I can’t hear it though, I don’t think. I’m pretty sure it’s just the wind…” He paused, staring into the distance. “I can’t see it either.” He relaxed and looked back at Paleheart. Suddenly, his ears twitched and his head whipped back in the direction. He stared down the same way again, the fur along his shoulders spiking up a little.

((Naw it’s all good, take your time. I’m sorry if I say something weird too ehe..

Sun’Shimmer | Young Warrior | Notable Trait: Evil
She trotted over to the fresh-kill pile, looking around before snatching up a piece of titmouse. She relocated her place to a corner of the camp, secluded enough she wouldn’t be obvious but enough she won’t get called out. “, Ew… it tastes so horrible.” She spat out the titmouse, it had a bitter and sour taste, not a ratio good to her taste either, more like frog going down your throat type

((Alright, um I suppose I’m going to help revive this by bringing my oc back))

Drift’Paw
WindClan Camp
Open!

Drift’Paw lurked around camp, no doubt searching for a cat to chat with. He was in fact lurking, or stalking. He was low to the ground, his long tail trailing out behind him. Whether he was actually practicing his stalking was yet to be seen. He had spotted Sun’Shimmer but… he was a little worried about talking with her. She seemed a little… scary sometimes. So, instead, he continued on lurking, his green eyes often stopping to land on Sun’Shimmer while he tried to convince himself that talking to her was better than talking to no one. And anyway, she wasn’t that mean.

SunShimmer felt someone looking at her and turned around, looking for whoever might be glancing over to her. She trained her eyes on DriftPaw, she then said, "I don't bite, you can come over."
