My screen says that i have a full inbox but I don't, I can still receive messages, but it's distracting and bothers me.

I was messaging my friend and, my inbox became full so I empties it. I reloaded it a few times and it stayed. It's now been 4 days and it's still there. I have tried many suggestions , but nothing has worked so far.
