Moonless Night

A moonless night, the darkest night of the month, the woods shrouded in inky darkness with the only light coming from the occasional flickering lamppost along the abandoned trails. Winds rushed through the pine trees, the sound similar to waves crashing on rocks, drowning out most sounds aside from a lone, eerie, howl. In a flash and a blur of fur all you can see are the stars blinking through the tops of the trees, all breath taken from your lungs before you can even think to let out a scream. Once your wits are gathered the creature is gone, the only thing left behind is large marks along the dirt, like a wolf's pawed mark but larger...and sharper. You're not alone and you have a feeling you just entered its territory and not the other way around.

When daylight hits and you look in a mirror you find a wound in the shape of claw marks across your skin, an urge gnawing at the back of your mind growing louder and louder before it snaps. Your bones are breaking and reforming over and over again, skin molting into fur, and you go to make a sound only for a low growl to leave your jaws. You were a large wolf, and your life had just been altered forever.
