Just like we have Leopons and Tigons, I think that it'd be fun having a mutation with hyenas too, although it's not biologically possible like the other two are. It's coming from a hyena obsessed guy so...

To be fair, we did get Lippos- they were doodles and they were only available for one April Fool's but we did get them :v
(But yeah, I'm pretty sure any hybrid that isn't possible irl is rejected for realism reasons- seen this with cheetons too)

As said, yeah, I don't think this is added since one is from the dog family and the other from cat.

Hyenas aren't from the dog family, they're like in the same family as lions

They're not closely related.

hyenas are in feliformia. cat-like, but not cats, and especially not panthera. whales and weasels are both caniformia, the contrasting carnivora suborder, but you wouldn't suggest they be able to make babies. this is a lion breeding sim with mostly realistic mutations. (primals are an exception, but even they existed once upon a time.)

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I heard that lioden devs are planning on hybrids with carnivores, not just from the panthera family. We also have instances of snake-lion hybrids in the June event ( when you get a quest from your pantheon of choice to win a fight against them ), so it's still a possibility. Also, people are gathering genes of different animals and stuff and combining them within an unfertilized egg to create a hybrid which was not possible before.

Possible examples of this ( some comments say its fake, but I think we shouldn't just make conclusions just yet.. )

June event does not have hybrids- they are a different species that happens to appear both like a lion and a snake. Like how unicorns are not hybrid horse/narwhals, pegasi are not hybrid horse/birds, griffins are not hybrid bird/lions. Different species that take design inspiration from animals that actually exist. People creating hybrids in a lab is also not something that happens in a pride of lions in the wild in some vague region of Africa.
If you could source me where the devs have mentioned making hybrids outside of what's currently possible in real life, I'd love to see that regardless- if they are planning on it I'd love to see Lippos ngl

+ Fun fact, the three species of hyena are in the family Hyaenidae, and are most closely related to Aardwolves (also Hyaenidae, and not particularly closely related to actual wolves; they share a more recent common ancestor with modern big cats than they do with modern canines)

As an April fool's joke sketch thingy? Sure. As real in game hybrids? Absolutely not Hyena's aren't felines or canines they belong to their entirely own group and couldn't ever breed with a lion or a wolf or whatever even IF a whole big piece of story was wrote as to why they are now possible (like humans playing "god") it still wouldn't make any sense because the only possible way a hybrid like that could ever exist would be if it were created in a lab where they mixed a bit of the two dnas together since lion sperm wouldn't be compatible with hyena eggs and vice versa they wouldn't survive in the body of either if implanted and thus wouldn't be able to be born naturally in the wild not to mention whatever hell creature that created would definitely not be fertile

" not to mention whatever hell creature that created would definitely not be fertile "
- @Aura/Starfall (#209015)

Neither would be tigons nor leopons, but they can still breed within the game.

I think gen 1 hyena/lion hybrids should only be possible in events where humans are involved and help/try to kill the lions, and only should be possible IF the player engages with the event and is active within the event. Maybe it should be a serum that gives a chance for the lioness' next litter to have a lion/hyena hybrid, but would cost like a lot of event currency, so that it'd be balanced. Or maybe the hybrid would just randomly appear within one of your pregnant lionesses' litters if she were to give birth to cubs while the event was happening.

No, I mean, Irl, leopons and tigons can't be fertile, however, in lioden, they are able to breed. For sake of eliminating the possibility of players going like " Hmm this lion/hyena hybrid is infertile, however leopons and tigons are fertile??? Lioden logic " I think the same should happen within these lion/hyena hybrids

Lions and hyenas are too far apart to breed. I know this is a fantasy game but some things are just too immersion breaking lmao

Real life lion and tiger and lion and leopard hybrids can indeed reproduce. (Maybe not all of them but some definitely can)
