The sun rose over the horizon, the white pin-pricked stars slowly vanishing as day broke and cloaked the area in a sunny haze, light enveloping the frosty clearing. A young male traversed over the lands, his ears perked up as he came within hearing range of the pride lionesses. His paws crunched at the frozen over grass underneath him as the ferus sped into a steady run and shifted his wings into a streamlined position. He arrived a few minutes later at his destination, panting as his claws scraped against the mossy rocks of the oasis. The lion came to a halt, looking down at the lions that gazed back up at him expectantly and putting on a proud smile, puffing out his orange-furred chest. The elder king had been sitting on a rock higher up, slowly walking down and letting out a huff of greeting, his tail flicking as he touched his head against Eaglestar's as a sign of respect. He then turned his head to face the pride; Eaglestar did the same, parting his jaws in a roar, his impressive fangs glinting in the sunlight as he announced his new ownership of this pride. The former king bowed his head to the young male, motioning his tail for Eaglestar to step up to the tallest part of the rock. Eaglestar leapt up swiftly, his claws made marks on the stone as a forever reminder of the start of his reign. Looking down on the pride he now led, Eaglestar couldn't help but feel a sort of excitement. After all, with a new ruler, the pride could only get better. Right?
