To start this off, I actually really love the January event! It makes sense that last month’s snow would cause such a drastic change that would negatively impact the creatures of lioden.

However, as it is, it really feels like the food pit is a feature that some players totally ignore! Once we get to tier 1, there is no real reason to donate anymore as you can simply stop your lions from gaining significant hunger with the 20% feed.
While I don’t think the percentage needs to be lowered I do think there needs to be some incentive for players to continue to donate past tier 1.

My suggestions are one of three things:

1. Add a challenge like December’s gifting challenge, something like 5,000 - 10,000 uses of food donated gives you a special base/marking applicator, or item. Maybe something called ‘generous’ or ‘giver’. I do not think this number is too high, as someone who hunts usually 5-15 times per day, I usually have at least 500 uses of food in my inventory at any given time. Once the first tier is unlocked players are able to donate food without worrying about their lions starving, after all. If others think this too high however I’m sure staff could find some sort of good goal.

2. Add a rare dropped craft-able item parts to the boneyard that can be obtained when digging or donating skulls (applicator, marking, useful item) These parts drop chance increases as the tiers of the bone pit go up. While there is no immediate incentive here to donate, the chance boost would encourage people looking to craft to get that tier higher. Perhaps what’s found could even be some sort of status condition whose chance goes up with tier.

3. Add in some good, tier locked items into the boneyard. I do think that a lot of the decor there is cool! However as it is a purely ‘for function’ player or someone who doesn’t like the decor will only worry about opening to tier one to get to the lion meat, torts and primal MOD. Maybe add in a stat food/ amusement item into tier 2, some sort of breeding item into tier 3, or something similar. Said breeding item could be something as like “Hyena head/heart (or vulture or whatever fits) ‘This item when fed to your lioness will cause all cubs in her next litter to have a random marking (or maybe 1-3 random markings?) as if rolled by an RMA”

All of those details in number 3 aside, I think we just need something useful tier locked if people / staff like that idea.

This suggestion has 152 supports and 2 NO supports.

60% hunger from tier 3 is overkill considering 40% will fill a whole pride completely in like 5 days :P I personally don't care much about the decor, but I do like to have at least 1 of most decors just in case. Even so, I don't do much to get past tier 2 myself.

I think they could stand to be nerfed a bit.
Tier 1 - 10%
Tier 2 - 20%
Tier 3 - 40%

My reasoning for these numbers is that 10% for tier 1 will incentivise people to donate more for tier 2 to get an actual functionally useful food pit. It's enough to "top off" a bit of a hunger bar, but prides can't subsist on it exclusively like tier 1 now. Tier 2 at 20% is enough to nullify the daily hunger loss but not enough to have cubs and adolescents fully fed if they aren't already. Lastly, tier 3 doesn't need to be higher than 40% because, as I mentioned earlier, prides are fully fed after 5 days of feeding (assuming they eat food pit daily).

Another thing preventing donations, I think, is a lot of people want to sell their carcasses to Monkey Business since everything in the Carrion Shop costs SB. Explore on its own gives sad amounts (IF your SB balance is under 5000 - otherwise it gives nothing) and many other players won't pay very large SB values in trades because they're also using it for the event. Monkey Business is the quickest consistent way to get SB. And let's face it, selling expiring carcasses in one click at the Monkey Business is way easier than clicking multiple to donate.

Tl;dr: We're lazy and poor, and the current incentives aren't enough!

TBH if i could get 1 LB per 10 uses of food donated, I'd donate way more. I just don't think it's worth it. Why would i bother donating when i can sell all these meat chunks and carcasses i get for SB for the event shop? Pointless. Others will unlock it, and I don't have to lose out.

Any incentive at this point is good incentive. This isn't even charity that's directly beneficial for most until the whole ass tier is open, so even as a giving person, I don't feel it a boon enough to do it.

I really like the hyena breeding item suggestion, that’s a really cool item idea!

I really like the idea of getting LB for donating, they're a pain in the ass to grind and only useful in the shop we don't open fully because the donation goal is so high and conflicts with the need to sell meat for SB to buy things in the other shop, as has been mentioned. Adding some more valuable items in the higher tiers of the boneyard (or moving some of the existing ones) and making donating food a viable way to grind for the currency to buy those items would prolly help quite a bit. Would it devalue the SB/GB worth of boneyard items? Maybe, but all save the Primal MoD aren't exclusive to the event anyway.

I really love the idea of getting LB from donating as well!! I like to use this event for giant tort’s and leopard orchids as I value the event currency of other events for other items a bit more. I think that could add a drive to donate.

I agree. There should definitely be a valuable item or items when you donate! It’s kinda difficult with no “reward” for doing so

There needs to be some kind of small, immediate-ish reward for donating, in addition to some function-focused items in the higher tiers. I think LB and/or SB would probably be the best incentive. I don't think it should be as much as Monkey Business gives, but if there was even a small random chance of a big payout after you donated enough, I think a lot of players would try for it. And even low payouts add up.

It would also really help to be able to donate entire stacks of carcasses. Having to donate each one individually is annoying.
