Alright so I've bred to a lioness and then had to wait for 4 days for her to give birth. I didn't like any of her cubs so I chased them off now I'm not sure how long I have to wait so I can breed her again, hopefully for better resulting cubs.

I think it should be done realistically.

So if all a lioness' cubs are either chased off or they die for whatever reason the lioness will come back into heat and I'd really like to see the game incorporate this. So people don't have to wait for forever to re-breed to a lioness that didn't yield what you were looking for.

So chasing all of them off should be like hitting the try again button and in a few days the lioness should be ready to breed again.

The real life time is within the range of about a week but for game purposes I think a few days is good.

"That's not really realistic, because the only way a lioness would lose cubs is if they were killed, and even then it can take weeks for the lioness to back into heat, it's not an instant thing.

if you could just breed and breed then it would bog down the servers, that's why waiting periods are in place.

that's the reason the "chase off" button is there, breeding takes planning, I read somewhere, but cannot remember how breeding for stats works, but I am pretty sure the cubs will always be lower than both parents, and you have to work your way up to getting better cubs, probably through inbreeding and such."

Partially true, however a lioness does not take a week to breed again which is over 7 months in this game. A lion does not take that long to go into heat. Yes the server gets bogged down a bit, but that is part of the realism.

"estrus cycle will repeat in about 90 days or so. During mating, the male and female are together constantly, and they usually do not eat."
Fireclaw:
I could see 2-4days at most if you chase every cub off, but not as long as this has taken, especially when our lionesses have a shorter lifespan..

I support only if the lioness goes into estrus again after 3 or 4 days and have chased off all of the cubs.

There is already a post like this, I'm not sure if you could merge the 2 topics so it will clean up the forum and so there are not 2 exactly the same.

So, re-breeding is currently possible 13 days after the birth of a cub (17 days after original breeding)?

20 days last I checked. Or when the cubs are 1 year 8 months old.

If we're going for realism here, may I remind everyone that one month is one day IRL. Ventriloquist's reference says one week and that's...not possible unless we calculate how much time IRL it takes for it to be one week if one day is one month. So, if you're all going for realism then that's what the coders are going to have to do (if they did it in the first place), and I doubt they're going to do that as it might clog up the servers, right? So it's not going to be very realistic in the first place.

If this were to be implemented, and waiting times were shorter, I'd say wait one to two weeks IRL time.

For this general idea I say support.

I support a lioness whose cubs have been chased off coming back into season 2 or 3 days after the cubs have been chased off

I support this but have to clarify somethings about real lions.

1) Females with dead cubs can be back into heat as quickly as 4 days in real life.

2) Females with cubs at side DO NOT enter heat usually until their cubs are mature - 2 years.

So I support this ONLY on the basis if the cubs are chased off / killed. Otherwise the 2 year limit is factual.... it also gives some time to level up a gal before her next breeding(s).

Once the cubs are chased off, I think you should only have to wait 9 days...the original waiting time for it to take for a lioness to go into heat. A few days is a bit short and I feel like it would be abused too much...not like breaking the rules or anything, but because people would take too much advantage of it. It would also be hard on the server. So the regular 9 days should stand after cubs are chased off.

Keep in mind that the time frames set on the site are to try to be as realistic as possible, but also to prevent a breeding frenzy. Lions are not rats or bunnies after all. It would be too crazy if you are able to breed every fews day only because of having the ability to chase cubs off.
