Okay, I see everywhere that this is supposed to be a realistic game. Cool. Cool...
So does that mean all the lionesses that can actually hunt and survive are the ones that reject my poor lion, and he's stuck with these ladies from the fail factory who don't get enough protein to know better? He brings home way way WAY more food than the girls. Their hunting stats are not very good. Not at all.
Total Hunts 72 Successful Hunts 6
That is my best lioness. =/

And, this isn't the most important thing ever, but why do all the enemy lions I encounter while exploring look tons better than our player lions? They have sexy flowing action manes, and expressions! How about we get something like that? Poses, and expressions. It's no wonder it's so hard to get a date up in here! Maybe even...just maybe...cute cubs, instead of little mutant beasts that are clearly hungry for Daddy's flesh! D8

Speaking of encounters, when we win a fight against something that would otherwise be food...why can't we eat it?

and...why do we lose more energy when we win a fight, than when we lose? That seems...backwards. Completely butt first backwards.

I agree with the energy thing about the fighting I don't get why we only lose 5 energy when we flee but 10 when we win AND lose.

also i get that females reject males but it seems the ratio is a little off balance some how.

I think the success rate for hunting should be increased a little bit.

I think redoing the artwork would be such a big burden and ultimately not worth it. The cubs look cute to me, and having our male lions look stoic isn't that big a deal.

Also, when you win a fight against something you aren't killing it, you're just defeating it, so it makes no sense that you'd be able to eat it. A single male lion can't take down an elephant all by himself, but he can scare it off. Hence the winning of a fight.

As for the energy. It is very much backward and I support that change fully.

So all in all I support a small hunting increase and changing the energy loss for winning/losing.

@Chris...I only lose 5 energy when I lose.

@John...I want my lions to look at least as awesome as one I see in a random encounter. Those are OUR lions. We pay for customization. All the lions, and lionesses having the same pose is really boring. Doing some extra art wouldn't be that difficult. All we're doing is reusing the same line art over and over, and markings are barely there so I don't think a few new images would be that big of a burden. Especially this early in the site's development.

What is the fighting about? Lions fight other creatures to kill them, or take their food, etc. Whatever it is, they do it to take something for themselves.

Like John I support a small increase in the success rate and the energy for losing/winning.

However it's easy to sit there and say it wouldn't be difficult to do extra art when you're not the one who has to do it. I'm pretty sure the artist(s) on here have better things to do than create new art just because some people find the current art 'boring'.

As for fighting there's already a few suggestions about having a chance of winning carcasses if you win a fight. Personally I don't see a need because I find enough carcasses while exploring and my hunters bring back enough.

I definitely agree with the battling aspect. You shouldn't lose more energy winning than you do losing/fleeing. Definitely should be switched or changed somehow.

Well when winning it's assumed that there's more energy exerted to reach that point, so it makes sense for a lion to be more tired from overcoming an opponent than it would from fleeing from it.

Tsu - Fleeing makes sense for losing less, but it doesn't make sense that when you win you lose more than when you lose.

Tsu just explained why it makes sense..

After battling an opponent your lion would be tired. Which is where you loose the 10% energy.

Fleeing/scaring the opponent you don't over exert yourself, not the 5%.

As for loosing I can see it being programmed as a variation of fleeing. It should be 10% from loosing as you would be knocked around and hurt quite a bit.

I very much agree with Karyl and John on the art aspect. If I got the artist right, they do art for multiple websites. That's a lot of burden just to jazz up art that has nothing wrong with it.

I think it would be cool to have a different image for our lion when he's fighting an enemy depending on whether you bite, swipe, roar, or flee; but I agree with others about the artist(s), on any site or game, being busy with other things that actually NEED images done. Also, I love the cub image. :x I think it's one of the most adorable lion cub images that wasn't a real lion cub I've ever seen.

"Hmmm... Yesssssss, you sssseem ssstrong. Perhapsss you can take this challenge. Slay 7 hippos and then come back to me for your reward...

You have slain 0/7 hippos so far."

sounds like we kill 'em to me.

While that's what the quest page says how about we take a look at what it actually says at the end of a battle?

"Exhausted and close to death, the opponent used their last ounce of strength to flee the battle"

Sounds to me like they they run away.

okay I can respond now xD
Being the lion artist, I dont think the OP realises how much coding and how much art there is involved with just the existing base lion / pose.
Each marking has to be repeated for cub, female and 3 versions of males, keeping the marking looking fairly same for different pose or side.
Now, also take in mind that art costs money and maybe there are more important things to buy for Lioden in alpha stage rather than dynamic poses for each attack?

Imagine I'd have to do lineart for 3 different manes, all existing markings there, and coders would have to code this and connect the appearing images to the original lion you have in your den.

Now that's a lot of work dont you think? Sounds like, pretty much, a year of work even, on both sides total.

And I'm not even sure if people would even appreciate the fancy attack images, cause, like me, they mostly just hit repeatedly attack button and get to result.

If you feel like still images are boring, maybe you have a craving for animated player characters? :D Maybe play some World of Warcraft, there's a hunter that can adopt a lion and fight along its side xD
