Nichole Potter sighed as she walked into the Dursley's living room, immediately noticing the gross amount of presents that were littered on the floor and couches. Oh ya, today was Dudley's Birthday. Rolling her beautiful brown eyes, she immediately walked into the kitchen and turned the stove on before digging through the cupboards in order to grab a pan. Finding the desired object, she quickly put it on the stove top. She figured that she may as well start breakfast, since Harry had yet to wake up because he always managed to sleep later than her.

While she waited for the pan to warm up, she casually leaned against the corner of the counter and thought about what her and her brother would have to do today, absently reaching up one of her hands to stroke a long, fiery red lock of hair. Since today was their cousins birthday, they would have to make him breakfast, clean and put the dishes away, and then they were to go to the zoo, which she was actually quite looking forwards to.

She snapped out of her daze when she heard the soft footsteps of their Aunt Petunia coming down the stairs, and she rushed to the fridge in order to pull out the bacon, eggs, and toast, making sure not to drop any of the objects as she hurriedly placed them on the counter. When her Aunt came in, all she did was sneer at her before demanding why breakfast was not yet ready, even though it was still early in the morning. Sighing to herself again, all she responded with was "Sorry Aunt Petunia" before focusing on er task at hand, wondering when Harry would emerge from the little room they shared in the closet under the stairs.

Nichole had been shocked at her brothers instant no, but shrugged her shoulder since it was true, they were half-bloods, not muggleborns.

She was just as confused about all the talk of houses though, and she thought that she had quite a bit of reading to do about the school they were about to go into, Hogwarts. She guessed easily enough that Hufflepuff was a house you wouldn't want to be in if you were a pureblood, if Draco's reaction to it was anything to go by.

Deciding to act vaguely and get some information, she looked at Draco curiously. "Well I hope to be put in Slytherin, the other houses just don't suit me" she lied, having no clue what the other houses were. "What do you think about the other houses?" She asked, hoping he would fall for the bait and tell them about these so called 'houses'.

Looking at Harry, she gave him a slight smile, willing him to play along.

Draco smirked lightly, having never met someone who actually wanted to go into Slytherin before. "Well, most say Slytherin's evil since You-Know-Who and most of his followers were in it, but really those in Slytherin just have a lot of ambition and cunning. Gryffindor's are supposed to be brave and noble, but my father says the lot of them are no good, based on those he went to school with. Ravenclaw wouldn't be so bad, considering they're supposed to be the cleaverest. Then of course there's Hufflepuff, supposedly filled with 'hard workers' and what not."

Harry seemed interested, wanting to know more but not wishing to seem uninformed to his boy, though he didn't like his attitude much. He would make sure to talk to Hagrid about it later. They sort people based on their attributes? That seemed a bit odd. Then again, this was a school about magic.

Nichole was struck with a sudden fear that her and her brother would be separated, because although they were twins, they were not very much alike in personality. Listening to Draco though, she was pretty confident that Harry would be put in the so called Griffindor house, because he was definitely brave, and most definitely noble.

Her on the other hand, she could be brave if the situation called for it, but she did love her books whereas her brother hadn't ever taken a liking to them, and only sought to learn what she herself would teach him. She was not above being cunning to get what she wanted though, and like alot of people she had ambition.

She figured that she actually did have a chance at landing in Slytherin, or maybe Ravenclaw. She didn't mind the idea of being in Slytherin though, because she would never judge a house on the actions of one person, so she didn't believe that this house could be evil. She did make a mental note to ask Hagrid about this You-Know-Who, cause she had no clue who he was.

Sh nodded her head anyways, as if that had been exactly what she was told, sending him a small smile in return. "That is kind of what we were told, minus the part about Griffindor's being bad, since I don't really believe in judging a house on certain people in it" she stated confidently.

Draco shrugged lightly, though smiled softly at Nichole. She had a lot of spirit despite the depressing state where nourishment was conserned. "Well, my father said there was this one group of Gryffindor's a year below him that gave the house an espesially bad name. He said they would go around hexing people that annoyed them simply because they could." He said, trying to explain the reasoning behind which he was taught these views.

Harry was intrigued. "Who were they?" He asked, though before they could answer, Madam Malkin was done taking his mesurments and pinning up the black robes for Hogwarts.

"Come back around noon and your robes should be finished."She instructed, giving Nichole and Harry a little nudge towards the door.

"See you at Hogwarts, then." Draco said as the twins left, sighing a bit in boredom as he was suddenly alone with the seamstress in the shop.

Harry walked out of the shop with Nichole to find Hagrid waiting for them, carrying what must have been the school supplies he had gone to go get.

Nichole managed to get out a quick goodbye before she was shoved out the door, looking curiously at the books in Hagrid's arms before approaching him.

"Thank you Hagrid, this is all very kind of you" she said gratefully as she took what she perceived as hers, considering they should be the exact same. She was slowly begging to trust the half-giant, and she wasn't kidding when she said than you, she was very grateful for all the giant had done for them.

"Oh, It's nothin'" Hagrid said with a warm smile before leading her and Harry over to store with with peeling golden letters over the door.

Ollivanders: Makers of Fine Wands since 382 B.C.

Excitement welled up in her as she eagerly pushed through the door without waiting for Harry, the little bell signalling her presence to whoever worked her. Looking around, she couldn't really spot anyone.

Harry looked around at the countless shelves, full of hundreds of cases of wands. Hearing soft footsteps seeming amplified in the otherwise quiet shop, Harry looked over to see a short old man walking over to them, smiling happily.

"Ah yes, I've been waiting all summer for you two." He said, instantly pulling out a few wands. Like everyone they had met thus far, he knew the twins instantly.

"Forgive me, where are my manners. I am Ollivander, the local wand maker here in Great Britian." The small man said. Before he handed either Nichole or Harry a wand, another tape measure like Madam Malkin's started taking the oddest of measurements, the distance between their hips and their knees, the length of their neck, and the width of their nails to name but a few.

As the measurements came through, Ollivander instantly set aside a few wands to put back in place, as he somehow translated these measurments to partially determine the wands suitable for the twins in front of him.

"I never forget a wand." Ollivander said conversationally as he recorded the measurements. "I remember your father's. 10", hawthorn and pheonix feather, very sturdy. Your mother however had a 13" cherry and unicorn hair, quite flexible, good for charms."

Nichole's attention peaked when she heard Ollivander speak about their parents wands, getting her mind off the fact they had to be measured again, which was something she was starting to really dislike.

"You met our parents? You gave them their fist wands?" she asked hopefully, her brown eyes bright with curiosity as she gazed at the elderly man.

"Of course I did" He said as if offended that she thought anyone else would.

Looking over at Harry, she gave him a bright smile. This was just another piece of their parents that they were starting to discover. She felt a pang of sadness though, because the more she learned about Lily and James Potter, the more she really wish she had known them. She was beginning to wonder how they had died though, since Hagrid had clearly been offended when he figured out the Dursley's had said a car crash.

When the measuring tapes had finally done their job, Ollivander handed Harry and Nichole each a wand. "There, a 12" hemlock and unicorn hair for you Harry, and a 9" ebony and phoenix feather for you Nichole, just to start." He said as he gave them the wands. Waiting a moment he nodded slightly to them. "Go ahead and give it a flick, try it out."

Harry glanced over at Nichole for a moment before giving his wand an experimental flick, jumping as sparks spewed from the tip preceding a loud 'bang'.

"No no, that will never do, a bit shorter perhaps, different core and wood likely." Ollivander murmured, instantly going to find Harry another wand, though listening for any sign that Nichole would need one as well.

Nichole had jumped at the loud bang that preceded Harry's wand waving, though she couldn't help but chuckle. Looking hesitantly at her own wand, she hesitantly gave it a little flick, practically jumping out of her skin when papers started flying everywhere! Placing the wand back on the counter, she gave Ollivander an apologetic look.

"No No, definitely not! No matter" He mumbled to himself as he began searching through the wand boxes, trying to come up with the perfect wands for his two customers.

Nichole looked over to her brother and raised an eyebrow, wondering how many attemps they were going to have to do before getting it right.

SeasonOfAllTime said Nov 14, 2013
The stack of wands grew steadily higher, each and every wand having a different effect, but ultimately failing in the hands of the twins. Just as Harry was ready to give up, Ollivander came out with two last wands, both in dusty cases that hadn't been touched in years. Ollivander set the cases on his desk and carefully took the wands out in such a way that didn't make the dust on the cases fly everywhere.

"I don't know why I didn't try these first." He murmured to himself as he handed he wands to Nichole and Harry. Harry's was very simple in design, 11" and made from holly wood with a phoenix feather for a core. Nichole's however was a bit more detailed, 15 1/2", the grip was bound in light leather, contrasting against the rich red color of the rosewood from which it was made. Carved along the length of the wand was an old inscription in an ancient tongue, barely readable, let alone understandable. Hidden under the lovely and pure wood lay the heartstring of a dragon that lived long, long ago.

Harry looked to his sister in what seemed like desperation before sighing and giving the wand he had been handed a light flick, pleasantly surprised when colorful sparks came from the tip and Ollivander nodded. "Yes, yes, of course, I should have known." He murmured, offering no explanation to his words as he gazed over at Nichole's wand.

Kiara said Nov 14, 2013
Nichole had watched curiously as Ollivander approached them with the dusty boxes, raising on her tip toes as excitement started to fill her. Her brown eyes widened when she caught sight of the wand with the leather grip, admiring the complete beauty of it and hoping that she would be compatible with the stunning wand. Looking over at her brother, she chuckled at his desperate look, knowing exactly what he felt, for she was starting to get a little frustrated herself.

A smile lit on her face as she watched her brother finally find the wand that was meant for him, though she sent Ollivander a curious look when he muttered that he should have known. Trying to reign in some of her excitement, she slowly reached out and grasped the leather bound grip, gasping softly when the felling of pure rightness flowed through her from her hand. With her eyes fixed in admiration to the wand, she gently waved it in the air, a full blown smile gracing her features as beautiful little sparks came flying out of the tip. This was definitely her wand.

Looking up, she saw that Ollivander had a very pleased look on his face as he observed the two twins, nodding to himself as if he knew these would be their wands all along. Tilting her head curiously, she glanced briefly over to her brother. "Uh sir, what do you mean you should have known?" she asked curiously.
avatar
SeasonOfAllTime said Nov 14, 2013
Ollivander hesitated for a moment before deciding on telling the twins the tales of their wands. "Your wand, my dear Nichole, is very old, one of the first wands I ever made. It is also very powerful, a power only amplified with the combination of wood and core used. The core of your wand is a dragon heartstring, which is a very difficult core to obtain, even with a dragon's consent. The dragon must first be put to sleep, and then tricky magic is used to extract a heartstring. Either way, a dragon heartstring is a very dark core, used by most dark wizards, but many noble wizards use a wand with a dragon heartstring is well. The wood of your wand however, is rosewood, a very soft and supple wood that is used as a sign of purity. With the wood and the core being on opposite ends of the spectrum, they battle for dominance and amplify the wands overall power. It takes a very strong willed person, like you, to wield a wand like that." He explained, seeming quite a bit more hesitant as he started explaining Harry's wand.

"Now, normally, when I collect cores I only take one from a creature, but with the phoenix that Harry got his wand core from, I was graced with two, and with them I made what are known as brother wands." He explained, wringing his hands nervously as he gazed at Harry's wand. "That wand's brother.... is the wand which killed your parents, and gave you your scars."

Harry nearly dropped the wand at Ollivander's words. He had come to terms with the fact that his parents had not merely died in a car crash like they had been lead to believe their whole lives, but that they were killed?! That was not something he had ever expected.

Kiara said Nov 14, 2013
Nichole's heart skipped a beat at Ollovander's words, her eyes landing on her brother's wand. Their parents were murdered! that had been the very last thing she had expected to hear, though she was slightly cross that Hagrid had left out out that tiny detail, she was definitely going to confront him later on. Looking over to Harry, she noticed the shocked expression on his face, probably the same expression that had been on hers moments before.

Looking at her own wand, she lightly traced her fingertips over the beautiful wood, admiring the smooth texture. She was going to cherish this wand, and she was slightly giddy that this wand had chosen her, since it sounded like it was extremely powerful. She just hoped she could live up to the wands expectations. "Ollivander, can you tell us who murdered our parents?" she asked hesitantly, wanting to see if she could get information from him.
avatar
SeasonOfAllTime said Nov 14, 2013
Ollivander shook his head quickly. "No, most definitely not. His name must not be spoken. The Dark Lord, He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named... I'm sorry, I cannot tell you anything more." He said, avoiding their eyes.

Harry's shoulders sagged a bit, unable to stand the disappointment of not knowing the identity of their parent's killer. Not pressing the old wand maker, He silently paid for his new wand before heading out of the wand shop. "I... I can't believe it." He barely whispered, a lump forming in his throat as he placed his wand in his pocket.

Kiara said Nov 14, 2013
Nichole quickly thanked Ollivander for the wands before paying for her own, rushing out behind her brother and grabbing his shoulders so that he was facing her. Seeing the expression on has face nearly broke her heart, and she quickly pulled him into a hug, wrapping her skinny arms around his thin frame. "Harry, It's ok. We will ask Hagrid what happened to them later Ok?" she asked, trying to cheer him up. She herself was trying to come to terms with what she had just learned, but she knew she could go over the facts later, right now Harry needed her.

"The wands are pretty cool though, don't you agree?" She asked, trying to distract him, looking around at the people who were staring at them, glaring fiercely at the strangers, couldn't they just mind their own business?

"Yeah, I guess." Harry sighed as he weakly wrapped his arms around his sister, looking over at the pet store he had noticed his sister gazing at before they had entered Ollivander's. "Want to go in while we wait for Hagrid?" He asked, nodding towards the shop as he turned his green gaze back to Nichole.

Malayan Krait snake (Hehe this is what it looks like in case you wanted to know :3)

Nicholes eyes brightened as she vigorously nodded her head before dragging her brother over to the pet store, confidently walking through the door and walking straight to the Malayan Krait snake that she had seen earlier in the window. To her delight, the snake was still there and she immediately went up to it.

"Hello, how may I help you?" She startled at the unfamiliar voice, but it was only the store owner who had come over to them. Looking longingly at the snake, she quickly made up her mind to get it, despite it not being on the Hogwarts list of pets.

"Umm yes please, could I get the Malayan Krait snake here?" She asked, seeing the store owners eyes brighten at the prospect of a sale. Reaching in the snakes cage, she missed the worry that flashed through the other woman's eyes as her hand got closer to the venomous snake. She was pleased when the snake seemed to accept her though, and it carefully wrapped around her wrist, looking like a large wrist band.

She heard the store owner let out a sigh f relief. "Of course, please come with me while I get you the necessary equipment to take care of that snake. And how about you dear? Is there anything I can help you find?" The woman asked, turning to Harry.
avatar
SeasonOfAllTime said Nov 15, 2013
Harry almost didn't catch the woman's words as he stared at a beautiful snowy owl perched in a cage, it's head tucked under it's wing as it tried to rest in the rather noisy shop. Tearing his eyes from the lovely creature, he nodded towards the cage, and before he could speak, the shops owner did.

"Her? Ah yes, a fine owl indeed, very lovely." She said as she grabbed the cage for Harry, careful to make as little movement as possible to let the owl rest. Pleased with making two sales to the pair of customers, the owner quickly retrieved the things they would need to care for the snake and owl, giving them each detailed instructions on how to care for their respective animals. It was obvious she cared for these animals, even after they were already sold.

Nichole listened intently to every word the store owner said, wanting to make sure she could be the best owner to the snake on her wrist. Her eyes briefly glanced at the snowy owl that her brother had picked out, admiring the white feathers and beautiful form, but her attention was once again captured by the store owner as she started to talk about her snake again.

With all the necessary equipment in there arms, she practically skipped out of the shop, a large smile sneaking onto her face. First the books, then the robes and wands, and now she had her very own pet!? Things were really looking up for her and her brother. Looking around, she immediately spotted Hadrid lumbering over to them, looking curiously at Harry's owl, and the snake supplies she held in her own arms since he couldn't see the actual snake.

"I see yeh've got yer pets." Hagrid said as he came closer, eyeing Nichole's snake skeptically as it came into view. "I'm no' sure how well accepted teh snake'll be a' Hogwarts, but I'll try and ge' Dumbledore to allow it." He said to Nichole, careful not to make any promises, as snakes were usually forbidden at the wizarding school of Hogwarts, especially not poisonous ones like this snake. "Alrigh', I think that's it until yeh go ter get yer finished robes from Madam Malkin's at noon, unless yeh want to look at some extra books yeh might want for idle readin'."

"Thank you Hadrid, I really want to have this snake with me.... we just seemed to click" She explained, then looked over to her brother and his owl. "And we would love to go to the book store, then maybe after can we get something to eat?" She asked, looking up at Hagrid with big brown eyes.

"O' course ye can, lets go" Hagrid said as he lead the way to what she guessed was the book store. Opening the door, she hesitantly went in, dragging her brother by the sleeve behind her. Her eyes widened in excitement as she saw book after book lined up on shelves, and she gave her brother a huge smile before quickly walking down the aisles, stopping when a particular title caught her eye. Stepping forwards, she carefully removed the book from the shelf, 'Hogwarts A History' was the title, she was definitely getting this.
avatar
SeasonOfAllTime said Nov 15, 2013
"That'll be useful." Harry said as he looked over Nichole's shoulder. It would certainly be nice to learn about the school they'd soon be attending, especially with how confused that Draco boy had left them. A different book caught Harry's eyes, causing him to stray away from his sister in order to inspect it better. Grabbing the book he studies the cover for a moment before flipping it open, his gaze landing on one name in particular. "Hedwig... Hmm, that'd be a nice name for my owl." He murmured to nobody in particular before looking at the tile again, 'Famous Wizards and Witches in History', definitely something he was interested in.
avatar
Kiara said Nov 15, 2013
Sneaking over to Harry, she silently looked over his shoulder and read the title of the book he was getting, smirking slightly when she read 'Famous Wizards and Witches in History'. Hmmm she might just have to borrow that from him when he wasn't paying attention. Grabbing his sleeve, she dragged him to the counter to pay for their books before leaving. She was hungrey and she wanted to get information from Hagrid.

Half an hour later, her and her brother were sitting across from Hagrid, enjoying a delicious lunch, but Nichole could barely keep herself from fidgeting as she waited for the right time to start questioning Hagrid. Looking around, she noticed that the two males were practically done their lunches, so she figured this was as good a time as any. "Hagrid, when we were at Ollivanders, he mentioned that out parents were murdered, but he wouldn't tell us who did it or why. I think we deserve to know the answer" She said with determination, sneaking a glance over at Harry to see if he agreed.
avatar
SeasonOfAllTime said Nov 15, 2013
Harry nodded in agreement as his sister spoke, sitting up straighter as Hagrid tensed.

"Tha''s not somethin' I should be tellin' yeh. Dumbledore'd be teh best teh explain it to yeh." He said slowly, avoiding looking at the twins as he spoke.

Harry groaned and slumped back against his chair, looking over at Nichole as though asking her what to do.

Nicole straightened her shoulders as she glared at the massive man, her eyes narrowing dangerously. "We deserve to know Hagrid, and you will be the one to tell us, it is not fair to pull us into this new life without knowing what is going on" She stated, seeing the half-giant was uncomfortable under her gaze.

Finally Hagrid caved to her glare. "First - and understand this, 'Arry and Nichole, 'cause it's very important - not all wizards are good. Some of em go bad. A few years ago there was one wizard that went as bad as you can go, and his name was V- Voldemort."

"Voldemort?" Nichole repeated, but was quickly silenced by Hagrid as he nervously looked around, causing her curiosity to rise.

"Shhh! It was dark times. Voldemort started to gather some followers, brought 'em over to the dark side. Anyone who stood up to him ended up dead. Your parents fought against him, but nobody lived once he decided to kill them. Nobody... not one... 'cept you two."

Nichole was floored. "Us? Voldemort tried to kill... US?

Hagrid sighed before continuing. "Yes. That ain't no ordinary cut on your forehead and jaw. A mark like that only comes from being touched by a curse, and an evil curse at that.

Nichole made sure to lower her voice before talking. "What happened to Vol- to You-Know-Who?"

"Well, some say he died. Codswallop in my opinion. Nope, I reckon he's still out there, too tired to carry on. But one thing's certain, something about you stumped him that night. That's why you two are famous, that's why everybody knows your names. You're the Twins who lived." Hagrid finished with a sigh. Nichole was trying her best to absorb what she had just been told.
avatar
SeasonOfAllTime said Nov 15, 2013
"So, we're famous, because somebody tried to kill us. That's bittersweet." Harry sighed, slumping down even more in his chair. So many thoughts ran through his mind. Who was this Voldemort guy? How had they, barely a year old, managed to defeat him why their parents were killed standing up to him? "What.. what happened to his followers?"

Hagrid sighed and shook his head lightly. "Teh ones tha' were most involved, the ones that everyone knew were followin' You-Know-Who, are in Azkaban, bein' guarded by Dementors fer teh rest of their lives. Some of 'em are still out there though, those that were less devoted, that could abandon The Dark Lord once he was defeated."
avatar
Kiara said Nov 15, 2013
Nichole was still in slight shock, but she shook her head as she listened to Harry and Hagrid. She guessed that this Azkaban was a sort of wizard prison, though she had no clue what Dementors were, though they didn't sound pleasant. She couldn't believe the reason people were in awe of them was because they survived something when they were one year old! That was just insane, she couldn't even remember what she had done!

Letting out a frustrated sigh, she softly stroked the scales of the snake that was still curled around her wrist, taking comfort from the cool body. She still had to come up with name for her new pet, and it had to be a good name. Suddenly one popped into her head, and a smile turned her lips.... Audric, that would be the snakes name, because for some reason she knew it was male. Looking at her watch, she noticed that it was almost noon. "Hey you guys, we should probably go pick up our robes" She pointed out, already sliding from her seat.

SeasonOfAllTime said Nov 16, 2013
"Yeah, lets go." Harry sighed, standing up and walking beside his sister out of the little restaurant and towards Madam Malkin's. When they arrives, it was only but a few moments before Madam Malkin was handing them their robes and once again showing them the way out. It was a much shorter trip than last time, something for which Harry was grateful. "So, where are we going now?" He asked Hagrid.

"Back." Hagrid answered simply, and somehow Harry just knew he meant to the Dursley's.

"Back? We have to go back?" He asked, all his excitement from the past few hours starting to deflate.

"Aye, Dumbledore's orders. Yer to go back until start of term, where yeh'll be brought to King Cross Station and board The Hogwarts Express at Platform nine and three quarters." Hagrid explained, seeming reluctant himself to take them back to the Dursley's place at Number 4 Privet Drive.
avatar
Kiara said Nov 16, 2013
Nichole felt the familiar fear rise in her as she heard that they had to go back to the horrid Dersley's house, causing her to reach for Harry's hand, tightly squeezing it. This was just not fair, here they were introduced to an incredible world, gotten so many wonderful and magical things, and now they were told they had to go back to that abusive family again. "well I guess that should have been expected" She muttered to herself, disappointment heavy in her tone.

The trip back to Number 4 Privet Drive was filled with silence on her part as she refused to acknowledge Hagrids existence. Sure, deep down she knew that he was only following orders, but she couldn't help feeling slightly betrayed by the half-giant. Once they did eventually reach the Duresley's house, they walked up to the door and Hagrid knocked loudly, while she clung tightly to her supplies and snake, afraid that they would be ripped out of her arms any second. The door opened slowly to reveal Aunt Petunia's pinched up face and Nichole wanted to scream her frustration.
avatar
SeasonOfAllTime said Nov 16, 2013
Hagrid glared disdainfully at Aunt Petunia, making it obvious that he disliked her just as much as she disliked him. "They best be gettin' a better room. If I 'ear they've been locked in a cupboard again, I'll do worse than just give that boy o' yours a swine's tail." He warned, turning from her resolutely before she could respond, his gaze softening considerably when it landed on the twins. "Take care, yeh two. Nichole, it'd be wise of yeh to put tha' snake o' yours teh good use, 'e's yours now, 'e'll protect yeh from these blokes. If anything 'appens, 'Arry, just send Hedwig with a letter and I'll be back. Owl's are smart creatures, they'll always find who they're lookin' fer."

Harry nodded mutely, still hoping uselessly that they weren't really back here, with the Dursley's, all the way until the start of September; a whole month away.
avatar
Kiara said Nov 16, 2013
With that said, Nichole watched helplessly as Hagrid turned and left them on the doorstep of the Dursley's house, to the mercy of their aunt and uncle. Her attention was then captured by aunt Petunia hurriedly shushing them inside, looking around nervously as if afraid the neighbors had seen the brief interaction that had gone on.

Once inside the house, Petunia placed her hands on her hips and sneered at the two twins. "Well, since we don't have any other option, you two will be put in my poor Dudley's second bedroom. You ungrateful freaks don't deserve it, but that freaky school of yours will probably know if you go back into the cupboard" She sneered before leading them upstairs. Nichole followed hesitantly until they came upon one of the rooms they had never before entered before, though she did notice many locks were nailed to the door, and she knew immediately that this was their room. When they entered the room, Nichole went and put her stuff in a corner, her sleeve slipping up her wrist a bit, and her aunt let out a fearful squeak when Audric become visible. "You will keep that disgusting monster in here! And you" She said pointing to Harry. "You will keep that filthy bird in it's cage" She demanded before slamming their door shut, leaving them alone.

"Well that went better than expected." Harry sighed, the sad thing being that he was completely serious. Waiting for Aunt Petunia's footsteps to disappear, he set Hedwig's cage down on the deck and reached through the bars to stroke her soft feathers. "Don't worry Hedwig, I'll let you out at night." He promised softly, looking over at the window, which had been left unlocked.

Receiving nothing more than a sleepy hoot from the snowy owl, Harry walking over to Nichole and gazed at Audric. "Think we'll be able to understand this snake like we could with the one at the zoo?" He asked, turning his gaze upon his sister.

Looking up at her brother, she gave him a small smile but shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know, but it couldn't hurt to try right?" She said before turning her attention to the snake wrapped around her thin wrist. "Ummm Ok I know I probably look ridiculous right now, but can you understand me?" She asked the snake, her eyes widening slightly when Audric lifted his scaly head to look directly right at her.

"Yesss misstress, I can underssstand you, which isss peculiar. I have never before come acrosss a human who ssspeakss our language" The snake hissed back, causing a large smile to spread across her lips. She knew there was a reason she felt so connected to this snake. Looking up at her brother, she gave him a bright smile before turning back to Audric.

"Well my name is Nichole, and this here beside me is Harry, he is my brother. I named you Audric, I thought you might like it, but I can change it if you already have a name" She explained, watching as Audric turned his emerald eyes onto her twin.

"It isss a pleasssure to meet you, and asss for a name, I like the one you chosssse, for we sssnakess have no use for namess sssso we do not usssually receive them" Audric explained before looking back at Nchole. "And I asssume that you are my Missstrisss?" He asked, and Nichole nodded her head in agreement.

"I wish I could understand my pet." Harry sighed, gazing over at Hedwig and shrugging it off. He'd rather have an owl than a snake to be honest. Looking over at the window for a moment, he turned once more to Nichole thoughtfully. "Do you think he'd be fine in the Garden? Like, would he be safe from Aunt Petunia finding him? It'd certainly be much nicer than keeping him up in this room all day." He reasoned, gazing at Audric again, reaching out to gently stroke the serpents smooth scales.

Nichole smiled as she watched Audric accept her brothers touch. "I don't know, probably. Hey Audric, would you like to go live outside until we leave for school?" She asked the black and white serpent.

"That would be favorable Misstrisss, but I can't help worrying about you two hachlingsss, the woman downssstairsss ssseemsss mossst unpleassssant" The snake hissed back, causing Nichole's heart to warm a bit towards the snake, happy that he seemed to care about their safety already.

"It's ok, we can take care of ourselves for the next month, I just want you to be more comfortable, and you wont be in this house" She explained softly to her snake.

"Yeah, they'll probably ignore us for the most part. We'll be fine, and if we ever need you we can come get you." Harry shrugged lightly, smiling at the snake. "Besides, there is quite a good amount of mice in the backyard. We're supposed to kill them if we find them, but we just set them free out there." He mentioned enticingly.

Nichole chuckled as Harry tried to entice the snake to go outside, but it seemed to work since Audric nodded his scaly head in agreement. "Ok I will ssstay outssside, but if you two need mee jusssst call my name" Audric hissed.

"Of course we will" Nichole reassured, then started thinking about how they should get the snake outside in the first place. "Hey, think it would be safe to drop him out the window? I know snakes are durable but I don't exactly know how durable... I don't want him hurt" She whispered to Harry.

Harry thought for a moment before walking over to the window and opening it, trying to judge the distance from the ground in the fading light. "I dunno. Maybe you could his him in the collar of your shirt, or around your waist and walking downstairs and outside, let him out there. Depends." He shrugged.

Hearing an indignant hoot from Hedwig, Harry turned to see her nipping at the bars of the cage, every so often sending him what might have been a glare. "Alright, alright." He chuckled, rolling his eyes lightly as he walked over and undid the latch for Hedwig to fly out the opened window for the night.

Nichole watched as Harry's beautiful owl stood out proudly against the darkness of the night, a small smile tilting her lips as she admired her brothers choice of pets, but of course she would rather have Audric than any owl in he world. Turning her focus back to her brother, she shrugged her shoulders, "That's not such a bad idea, but I would have to do it in the morning, for I am sure I heard Aunt Petunia latch the locks on the door before she left.... I take it that means we also get no supper" She sighed sadly, thankful for the large lunch they had this afternoon with Hagrid.

Suddenly she heard an unsettled his from her wrist, ans she looked down curiously at her snake. "Thessse people do not feed you? I am tempted to go and bite them" The snake hissed angrily, causing a chuckle to rise up in Nichole, Oh how she loved this snake.

"It's ok Audric, we are used to it, and I will bring you outsde tomorrow" She declared before getting up. Looking around, she went over and grabbed her ratty pajamas from their small pile of clothes and got ready for bed quickly. She was exhausted from the busy day and needed some sleep, it was already pretty late. Curling in the bed that was way more comfortable than the tiny cut that was under the stairs, she smiled sleepily at her brother.

Harry smiled at his sister as he also changed into the ratty excuses of clothes they had to sleep in before crawling in the compareably roomy and comfortable bed that he much preferred over the small cot in the cupboard. Wrapping his arms instinctivly around Nichole, he set his glasses on the little bedside table and relaxed to go to sleep.

In the moning, he noticed Hedwig had returned to her cage with what must have been her breakfast, the bones of which was sitting on the floor of her cage. He also noticed a mouse laying partially on the desk likely left here for Audric by Hedwig. Could animals understand each other? It was one of the many questions he had that likely wouldn't be answered anytime soon, not that it was importaint

Nichole woke up immediately when she felt Harry stirring, sitting up abruptly as her gaze scanned the room, ignoring the unsettled hissing form Audric and searching for any danger, namely her aunt or uncle. Seeing no one, she allowed her body to relax again, then smiled sheepishly towards her brother. Her eye was then caught by the, thankfully, dead mouse on the table. A smile lit her face as she scrambled out of bed, Audric still wrapped around her wrist, and approached the table. "Thank you so much Hedwig!" She said to the owl, reaching in the cage and gently stroking the soft feathers before placing her snake on the table, turning away so she didn't have to see Audric's eating habits.

Looking back at her brother, she was just about to say good morning when she heard a loud knocking on the door. "Just because you know you are freaks now, doesn't mean you can get out of doing your daily chores!" She heard Aunt Petunia's shrill voice yell at them before the audible sound of the door being unlocked filled the room.

Rolling her eyes towards Harry, she automatically started getting ready. "Well good morning Harry, ready for another fun filled day?" She asked sarcastically as she went over to the now fat snake and allowed hi to wrap around her neck, planning to let him go when they were working in the garden.

Harry smiled at the proud hoot that came from Hedwig as Nichole thanked her and stroked her feathers. Sighing and rolling his eyes at Aunt Petunia's shrill voice, he got dressed for the day and wrapped his arms around his sister in a hug. "Best get it over with. You go ahead and take Audric outside, I'll join you when I'm done with breakfast." He sighed, walking over to Hedwig's cage and closing the door as she started settling down for a day of sleep.

He found it sad that underage wizards and witches couldn't use magic outside of school, for if they could they would most certainly get everything done quicker. The good thing was, the Dursley's didn't know they couldn't use magic, which meant they were much more careful around them. Dudley still wouldn't be in the same room as them, fearful that he would receive more than just a tail.

Kiara said Nov 18, 2013
"Ok Harry, but be careful please" Nichole said softly before exiting the room, carefully heading down the stairs, and with a quick look around, slipped out the front door. Letting out a small sigh of relief, she headed into the back yard, going to the shed and picking out the familiar garden tools she used pretty much every day. Reaching a hand up to her neck, she gently stroked the smooth scales before unwrapping Audric and carefully placing him on the ground. "Ok, this will be where you will be staying until we leave for Hogwarts. I know there are many mice around here, so you don't need to worry about food" She reassured as she bent down and started pulling weeds out of the soil.

Out of the corner of her eyes, she saw Audric eye her with a leveled gaze before dipping his scaly haed. "Thank you Misstrisss, I appreciate your compassssion" The snake hissed before slithering away, leaving Nichole with a pleased smile planted on her lips.

Harry nodded and stayed in the room for a moment before heading out himself, softly slipping downstairs and starting the normal breakfast routine, though with considerably less yelling. Snagging a bit of food for him and Nichole when the Dursley's weren't looking, Harry headed outside and to the back yard.

Walking over to her, he handed her some of the food he had managed to take. "Here, either they didn't notice or they're too scared to care." He shrugged, taking a bite of his own food as he looked around at what needed to be done.

Kiara said Nov 18, 2013
Nichole was sweaty and gross by the time Harry had come out, It was a extremely hot out today, and she gratefully accepted the food that was offered to her. "Thank you, I bet it was the second option, they always notice when food is missing" She pointed out, her own gaze scanning around the garden, feeling proud when she realized she had already completed most of the work. Raising the much needed food to her lips, she took a small bite as she sat back on her arse.

"So what do you think Hogwarts will be like Harry? Do you think we will fit in there?" She asked hesitantly, meeting his beautiful green eyes with her warm brown ones.
avatar
SeasonOfAllTime said Nov 18, 2013
"It's a school about magic, I don't think there's a way we won't fit in." Harry pointed out, sitting beside his sister and relishing the cool breeze that started slowly picking up. Despite having only been out there a few minutes, it was still a very hot day. Thinking over the instructions Hagrid had given them, he frowned a bit, his brow furrowing. "Wait a minute, there's not platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross Station... think it could be like that pub that we went through to get to Diagon Alley? Like, hidden from view?"
avatar
Kiara said Nov 18, 2013
"It probably is, though I bet we are going to have a great time finding it. And just because it is a magical place, doesn't mean we will automatically fit in. We didn't even know we were magical until now" She sighed as she closed her eyes, allowing the peacefulness wash over her. Though working outside was always tiring, it was also one of her favorite places to be, for their aunt and uncle rarely ever ventured out here, so they had time to themselves. "By the way, what was on the chore list today?" She asked, glad they were already to tick off breakfast and gardening.

SeasonOfAllTime said Nov 18, 2013
"We have to clean the living room, Dudley's room, sweep the floors, do the laundry, dust everything, and completely clean the kitchen." Harry sighed, shaking his head lightly. Aunt Petunia was such a clean freak, he had no idea why she wouldn't just do all this herself. It's not like she had anything better to do besides spying on the neighbors.

Nichole let out a small groan, not liking that list at all. It seemed that though the Dursley's were extremely wary around them, they weren't fearful enough to lower the amount of chores on there seemingly never ending list. Her thoughts then drifted over to Aunt Petunia's need for things to be clean, and a small smile filtered to her lips. "Hey Harry, do you think that Aunt petunia has realized yet that she will have to do her own chores once we are gone" She asked, a certain smugness in her voice. Not waiting for her brother's answer, she took the last bite of the food he had given her and stood up, taking a few steps forward before crouching down in order to finish the garden.

SeasonOfAllTime said Nov 21, 2013
"Maybe, perhaps that's why we still have so many chores." Harry shrugged, getting up and starting to help his sister. "So, what should we do first? I think Dudley's room will be the worst, the kitchen is practically already clean, save whatever mess the Dursley's left on the table." He sighed, shaking his head lightly. He still wondered why in the world they had never gone to school like normal children. It would have been nice to have gotten out of these chores during the school year. Besides, plenty of people actually knew about them, so it didn't make sense for the Dursley's not to cover up the fact that they were mistreated and not send them somewhere for school.

Reaching up with one soil covered hand, Nichole gently grasped a long strand of her hair while she pondered over the chores list, debating which one to do first, grimacing as she felt the coarse texture slide against her fingertips. It had been awhile since the Dursley's had allowed her enough time in the bathroom to do more than just wash her body, so her hair must look like a coppery disaster. "I say we just get Dudley's room over and done with, considering it always takes the most amount of time" She finally responded, her lips quirking into a small half smile as she added "Though depending on what you made for breakfast, the kitchen could be just as bad."

"Hey, you know me, I wash dishes as I use them." Harry insisted with a teasing grin as he ran a hand through his hair slightly. "Alright, Dudley's room it is. Maybe if we're lucly we can finish before dark and hide up in our room." He mused with a smile to show he was somewhat day dreaming. After a moment, he heaved himself to his feet and offered his hand to Nichole, like he had heard their Aunt Petunia say many times to Dudley as it being the "noble" thing to do.

"Ha I wish! You know that if we finish our chores early, we will just be loaded with more tomorrow" Nichole scoffed as she grasped her brothers outstretched hand, heaving herself off the ground. Once regaining her balance, she attempted to brush off the dirt that had smeared across her already filthy pants, sighing when she realized she was just making things worse, not better.

Bending over, she quickly gathered up all the gardening tools, carrying them over to the dark little shed beside the house and putting them away. Stepping out into the scorching sunlight once again, she shot a quick look over in Harry's direction, before striding to the backdoor of the house, letting out a blissful sigh as she was blasted with the air conditioned temperature. Well at least there was one good thing about cleaning Dudley`s room.

She quickly made her way up to the dreaded bedroom, hesitantly opening the door since she did not know what to expect this time around. Her eyes widened with horror at what lay in front of her.

Harry followed a bit behind Nichole, making sure none of the dirt she had clinging to her clothes fell loose to the ground to attract the anger of Aunt Petunia. As he finally looked up from the ground into Dudley's room, his face paled and he weakly clutched Nichole's shoulder. "Hey Nic? How long until September first?" He asked, knowing perfectly well but still begging to God he was wrong.

"Oh, dear Lord, please tell me this is a dream." He muttered as he bravely stepped forth into the hazard zone known as Dudley's bedroom, suddenly wishing he had a boat to navigate in, and a hazmat suit.
