Just gonna be a bit of a private OOC discussion now. ^^

Eheh, put this on the wrong board at first.

Heyyy! :3 I really, really am in the mood for a PMD RP. Ideally I'd like 1-3 other people to roleplay with, and I'd rather hammer out the specific details once I know what specifically you'd like to do, but here's a general outline.

I roleplay semi-literate to literate, though I tend to be a little slow if you expect a literate response. You can usually expect at least a paragraph out of me, though.
I'd assume we'd be first-stage Pokemon and stay that way throughout, though if you want to evolve, we could work that into the plot.
I'm not sure what exactly the story would be, but obviously we would be a really cool rescue team. Maybe one (or more) of us were humans before becoming Pokemon. Up to you. ^^
I'd be basing it more on PMD Sky than any of the others, with a focus on both rescue and exploration. I really like the idea of traveling to far away areas just for treasure.
I'm comfortable playing pretty much any role at this point, so I'll likely try to balance out what everyone else wants to play as. I do, however, have favourite Pokemon that I would most likely want to play. I'll make a little list. ovo

Totodile
Mareep
Sewaddle
Archen
Scraggy
Numel
Poochyena

So, um, yeah! Just respond if you're interested please, and tell me a bit about what you'd want! Thanks! <3

Howdy Sky! :D Got any opinoons on whay I've got so far, or anything you'd want for yourself/your character?

I think I'm either going to go with Totodile or Sewaddle. Maaaaybe Archen if I feel like our team needs someone who can fly or float and we don't have anyone. I do have rough personalities and possible backstories for each, if anyone wants to hear 'em. :>

I've only played Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue, but natural disasters were in that too so (haven't checked on which games were in which gen of PMD) o: I played that game twice, so I'd say I understand that universe well enough.

If we're going by PMD playable characters, I'm most interested in Cubone, Cyndaquil, and Torchic.

Also, I've actually never role-played before, but am comfortable with writing and am fluent in English.

PMD Red has most of the background you need. Darkness, Time, and Sky added bounty/fugitive hunts and a couple other ideas that I'd use for my RP but the basis is the same. And you don't have to choose just from what you can start as in PMD. You can be any first-stage Pokemon you like.

Idk if this is allowed but eevee? I've played eevee the majority of my play throughs, so she'd be ideal. If not would Shinx be okay?

Anything you want is fine by me, though I'd rather we not have two people play the same species, since that would get confusing >.< But since no one has mentioned Eevee yet, we should be A+. When I get home, I think I'll put up a little list of questions for you guys to get a better feel of what we all want from this RP uvu

Okay, I'm home, so let me just vomit questions at you guys. I'd appreciate if you'd answer all, at the very least a yes or a no, but I'd like it even better if you gave me some extra feedback and deeper opinions, if possible! Just because I ask a question does not necessarily mean it will be in the RP. This is just to gauge interest.

1. I guess I'll start by asking how many players you guys would want. In my original post, I asked for 1-3 players, and I honestly did not expect to see more than that but here I am with four all in one day! I'm very happy about this, and I wouldn't want to push any of you away, but at the same time, I would like my RP to focus on one exploration team, and there comes a point where there are too many people to focus. The fact that I would also like to make our team constantly on the move also makes it necessary for a smaller, tightly knit group. I, myself, feel like 7 would be my upper limit, but I'd like to hear where everyone else stands on this.

1.a. If I were to have a group larger than four, maybe even more than seven, we could possibly have it where we are one big team that occasionally splits hairs and does quests in separate groups from time to time. If we did go this route, we'd likely have multiple threads in Roleplay, but stay organized through one OOC thread where we plan our movements and plot threads.

1.b. Another possibility would be to have two, or maybe more exploration teams, that may be friendly, rivals, or friendly rivals. We'd likely use the same method of organization though. Either way, I'd like to hear your thoughts on the viability of this, and if you'd like to do this or not.

2. I mentioned disasters before as a possible overarching plot thread. It seems to be accepted so far, which is good! I guess what it comes down to is what types of disasters? Which legendaries would you like to see? And then, how much is it their fault? I mentioned many different reasons for their powers going berserk. Which do you prefer? If you have an idea of your own on this topic, please, please share it.

3. What Pokemon will you be playing? I know I've asked this a million bajillion times, but it's just for organization's sake that I throw this here again. Include your preferred gender and a little blurb about their personality for each Pokemon listed, or if it'd be the same for each, state so.

4. Would any of you be interested in playing a human who turned into a Pokemon? Do you think this would be interesting for the RP, or might put too much focus on one or more characters? Should we have one, or more humans-turned-Pokemon, if we have any? How big of a purpose or fate should they have in the plot?

5. Start to think on your character's backstory a little. It doesn't have to be big, dramatic, or anything. You could even have completely forgotten your entire life. Just to give some sort of insight as to why they'd want to wander the world, exploring.

6. That's all I've got for now but if you have another question you think I should ask, I'll put it up here. I'll do quick write-ups for my potential characters next to see what you guys think. uvu

1. I'd want to keep it to 3-4, both because of the game team limitations and because it gives room for different characters, without crazy drama, plotholes and the like that could come with too many people.

Of the two parts of this question, I prefer 1b.

2. I don't mind really any legendary or important pokemon, I like them all XD I don't like to think Pokemon have really caused that much harm, unless they're usually characterised as "evil" or "harmful", although I do enjoy the manipulation part of your idea. Groudon, Kyogre, Lugia, Darkrai and those sorts seem appropriate for the plot. Perhaps a legendary has taken control over another, a Pokemon more known for strength than intelligence.

3. Cubone (f) OR Starly (m):
if Cubone - Quiet, but observant. She stands aside when the others fight, and often waits to strike at the right moment. She is very calm and holds beliefs in fate and that anything that happens to her or her friends is for a reason. Because of this, she is very accepting of natural disasters, as a part of her world. This makes her seem cold to others, but she is very warm and caring when need be.

Starly - Spirited, he loves the feeling of adventure in exploring with his friends, but feels often emotionally conflicted when he sees the horrors in his world. Because of this he often dreams of flying eternally to escape the natural disasters around him, and hides this wish from his friends, because honestly, it scares him that he would even consider leaving them. He is very accepting of others, but often pushes people to far with his energy (unwittingly), especially if their personalities clash.

4. I'm not sure. I didn't particularly enjoy the human-turned-pokemon plot in Red Rescue, but it did make the plot very interesting.

5. Cubone - Believes that in exploring, she is opening herself up to fate, that she will absorb more information, and though she doesn't admit, enjoys the company of others.

Starly - Fell out of his nest as a chick, and so regards all those that he likes as his flock, since he has lost his birth family/flock/parents etc., Exploring is his way of feeling like a true Starly (Staravia/Staraptor).

6. <3

Woo boy, lets get this done!

1. I agree with Vitani. 3-4 players sounds about right to me, though I think we could stretch it to 5 or 6 if need be. I also like the idea put forth in 1a. if we do end up having more players. It'd be easier to interact with different people if we're all on the same team.

2. As far as legendaries go, I'd say Groudon and Kyogre are the best candidates if we want disasters for the sake of disasters. Perhaps, like you said, they are being controlled by a more intelligent Pokemon or organization. Another option might be Entei, Raikou, and Suicune, who are considered far more intelligent and very powerful.

3. Again, in the same vein as Vitani...

Poochyena (F) or Shinx (M)

Poochyena: Mouthy and short-tempered. She doesn't suffer idiots lightly and will tell you in no uncertain terms if you're being stupid. Many consider her to be difficult to get along with, but those who know her well know that she is only so short with everyone because she worries for their safety. She is unerringly loyal to her friends and will go to extremes to protect them. Under all her bite and bark is just a big softy and her friends know that. She may even be persuaded to crack a smile every now and then.

Shinx: A very timid and soft-spoken Pokemon. He's painfully shy around strangers and not much better around friends. He'll hide behind bigger Pokemon to avoid conflict and confrontation and is very much a pacifist. He speaks with a stutter and is horribly embarrassed by it, and so only chooses to speak around close friends. When exploring he is the go-to stealth member. He's spent years learning to be quiet and it is something that actually benefits his team. He also usually goes along with any plan his partners come up with, even if he has one that might work better. If you can manage to get through to him he's really a sweet guy.

4. I think the human-turned-Pokemon thing might put too much focus on one character/player, so I'm going to vote no.

5.

Poochyena: Grew up in a 'feral' clan outside of *insert large city here*. (I believe that Pokemon would have 'natural' and 'domestic' variations as real animals do. Feral would be the domestic variety but semi-wild.) She constantly had to fight for food, shelter, and dominance with many siblings and cousins. When she settled into her moveset if was discovered that she'd been born with the move Fire Fang, marking her as a crossbreed. She was exiled from the clan and traveled alone until she join an exploration team.

Shinx: His father was leader of the Luxray Pride and he his father's favorite son. His early years were spent warm and safe, with many mother-figures to care for him and other young Shinx to play with. Disaster struck when the pride went to war with a neighboring pack of Houndoom. Shinx's father, mother, and aunts were not strong enough to fend off the attackers, and the poor cub watched frozen in fear as his entire family was slaughtered. He was the only survivor of the ordeal, found after not moving for several days by an aging Floatzel couple and taken in by them. His adoptive parents convinced him that exploring the world would be good for him, and though he thinks its scary sometimes, he doesn't regret joining an exploration team.

I always overdo things...

Sorry you guys for bombarding you with all these questions! Haha!

@Vitani

Oh my gosh I am in love with your character concepts. I really like the themes of internal conflict, and the one with Starly being scared of his own greatest wish just hit hard. Great job. But Cubone's is really cool too. I like that unique perspective. Great job. <3

@Hobbit

You say overdo like it's a bad thing >:3 I like the idea of domestic, wild, and feral, and both your characters are crazy cute too.

As for the legends... I did think about Groudon and Kyogre, but I also was thinking about the legendary beasts. They'd add an interesting twist on things as whatever disasters they bring would keep moving around, circling back and forth across the entire region, with sudden volcanic activity, thunderstorms, and hurricanes (?). I've got a couple ideas for how they would work, now...

A. The world is corrupt. More and more Pokemon have become criminals, or otherwise have done so many bad things, that the legends view the world is irredeemable. Their purpose, they have decided, is to end the world, so it can begin anew. In this scenario, the legends would either have to be slain, sealed away, or convinced that the world can be saved.
B. There is a more powerful (or less powerful but more cunning) Pokemon behind the scenes, who have used some sort of mind control technique, and have set the legends on a permanant rampage. This technique is very destructive on the legends' bodies. By the time the team comes across them, they'll be in such a horrible state they'd barely be recognizable as the creatures of legend. However, they still are just as, if not more, powerful and deadly as ever. They would have to find some way to cut off the mind control, and then hunt down the source and defeat him. Perhaps Mewtwo? Not sure. e.e
C. Some sort of disease like rabies or something, that affected their mental state. Areas they've ravaged could have victims be affected too, becoming mindlessly hostile. Not sure how this one would be dealt with. Maybe a purifier, like Celebi, could help if they can awaken her, or they find some miracle cure.

In other news... Here are my character concepts so far. uvu

Totodile (F) - Something of a jokester, Totodile is infamous for trying to find a laugh in any situation. From bad puns, to wild pranks, she's tried them all. Though she has a slight preference for physical comedy, anything humorous can put a grin on her face, and nothing makes her feel better than sharing a smile with someone else. Born the youngest of a big clutch, she was often starved for attention in her younger years, so she quickly adapted a way to garner attention: laughter. Even if she was the butt of her own jokes, the attention made her feel wanted in her family. Though she seems self-assured and confident, she often is frightened that one day her friends will tire of her jokes and not care about her anymore, so she constantly is trying to shake things up and try new things. The results are hit and miss. Her seemingly carefree and not-so-serious demeanor means that people tend to avoid telling her when they have a problem, for fear that she'll laugh at them. And while she may make a joke out of a situation, it is only an attempt to lighten up a situation. She does know how to be serious when she needs to be. She actually only joined an exploration team because her favourite older brother, a Croconaw, is a somewhat popular exploration team leader. Word hasn't been sent from him for over a year now, and she fears he may be dead, or worse, he's forgotten all about her. She hopes that maybe she'll find him on her travels.

Sewaddle (M) - On the surface, he seems like a very sweet, likeable Pokemon. He is always the one to volunteer when someone needs help, and often directly puts himself in harm's way if it means protecting someone else, though due to his small size, he often just gets squashed. He's very polite and always tries to be helpful, but also kind of a klutz, winding up causing himself and others more trouble in his half-thought through efforts to help. He's often described as 'cute', which usually results in him hiding his face in his hood in embarassment. Underneath his sweet exterior, however, lies a shocking secret. Back in his home village, when the news of the disasters had not yet struck, he was out playing with his close friend, a Caterpie. Out of nowhere, a tornado came rolling in, and began to suck in his friend. Clinging on by a string shot and begging for help, his friend hung on. Sewaddle panicked, feeling small, and unable to help his friend, he remained frozen, watching, helpless, until he ran away in fear. His home village, while not outright accusing him of murder, blamed him for the death of his friend and, unable to deal with the shame any longer, he ran away from home, and vowing to himself to never lose anyone to his own inaction again, even if he dies in the process. Maybe then, he could make it up to his friend. He would never let anyone know of his past willingly, out of fear that they would no longer be his friend if they knew the truth. So he instead keeps a cheerful face, and continues trying to be of use.

Archen (M) - I have no idea how this one would work, actually. Are fossil Pokemon just around? Or do they have to be revived in some way, or live in very isolated communities? Not sure.

One last thing! Gosh, this is a long post! I forgot to ask in my previous questions, but, about evolution! Do you guys want it? Should it be something that happens only rarely?

1. Idk maybe not too many at once so if it's more than four split the team?

1.a. OOC thread sounds like a plan

1.b. Rivals are always fun

2. I would want to see Lugia and Rayquaza my chaos kings

3. Eevee that evolves into Espeon l8r on! Personality wise:

Tabby the Eevee (if you allow names I guess) is a very reserved character, with a tendency to be curious, so she joined an exploration team. She hates to lead, however, and ill do anything to weasel out of it. She would hate to be responsible for any injuries. The small package packs quite a punch in a bind, though. From the razor wit to the sharp teeth, most enemies don't want her getting flared up. Being a normal type, she does need quite a bit of help fighting.

4. I don't know, uh maybe one or two human pokemon? Too many would seem improbable.

5. Uh well Tabby likes to learn. She heard so much about the interesting discoveries of other famous teams, she thought it'd be neat to join one too.

IDK if this is enough info, so let me know if you need more!

I also thought about Mewtwo acting as a sort of puppet master for the stronger legendaries, though I also like the illness idea. I think that having a "corrupt" world might cause at least small problems in that it could involve a lot of NPC fights, and I'm not sure how we're going to go about those in the first place.

And I really like you're characters too! Totodile seems relatable , at least to me.

Gah, sorry if my massive post made my last question a bit hard to notice, but what's your take on evolution? Should we have it? Should it take a lot of effort and be very uncommon?

Well, considering evolution takes a while to get to in the games, it should probably only happen after a lot of time. But conisdering we all are considering pokemon with low level evolutions, it might just be an easy thing to trigger (like entering that cave in Red Rescue).

I think that, without the assistance of humans, evolution would be a lot like normal aging. Since all of our Pokemon would be relatively, it should be unlikely that they were to evolve in the course of the RP. If ever continued it with the same characters, then it would make more sense then, but I'm getting ahead of myself. Though if any of the characters are on the older side, and depending on how many evolution steps there are, evolution could occur.
