Just gonna be a bit of a private OOC discussion now. ^^

Eheh, put this on the wrong board at first.

Heyyy! :3 I really, really am in the mood for a PMD RP. Ideally I'd like 1-3 other people to roleplay with, and I'd rather hammer out the specific details once I know what specifically you'd like to do, but here's a general outline.

I roleplay semi-literate to literate, though I tend to be a little slow if you expect a literate response. You can usually expect at least a paragraph out of me, though.
I'd assume we'd be first-stage Pokemon and stay that way throughout, though if you want to evolve, we could work that into the plot.
I'm not sure what exactly the story would be, but obviously we would be a really cool rescue team. Maybe one (or more) of us were humans before becoming Pokemon. Up to you. ^^
I'd be basing it more on PMD Sky than any of the others, with a focus on both rescue and exploration. I really like the idea of traveling to far away areas just for treasure.
I'm comfortable playing pretty much any role at this point, so I'll likely try to balance out what everyone else wants to play as. I do, however, have favourite Pokemon that I would most likely want to play. I'll make a little list. ovo

Totodile
Mareep
Sewaddle
Archen
Scraggy
Numel
Poochyena

So, um, yeah! Just respond if you're interested please, and tell me a bit about what you'd want! Thanks! <3

I like the idea of aging, but at the same time, I think it could be cool like, after we accomplish something big in RP, say, we evolve up a stage. It'd be a pretty big deal, though, like after our characters do something really great or have some sort of personal growth.

So I think I'm gonna restrict it to 4 players total, myself included... So I guess I'll ask for a roleplay example from you guys and pick who I want. xnx Sorry. I hate to be that guy.

As I mentioned, I've never role-played, so you guys might have to get me used to it, and point out any faults that I exhibit, but here are some examples of my writing.

Yeah the evolution maybe wouldn't be too common, especially for eevee-->espeon. I like the aging idea a lot! :>

Alright. This was for a literate fantasy dog roleplay I signed up for that never got off the ground. Believe it or not, this was my RP sample. It's long and you probably won't understand what's going on. I've actually considered making this a story in and of itself. BTW, this is just an example of my writing; I won't be making responses thing long for this RP. Enjoy!

*************

The excitement in the air was palatable. The whole assembly was abuzz with chatter; dogs joking and debating, reuniting and flirting. One particular couple to their left was being particularly amorous, much to Nerio’s discomfort. Azara grinned. This is what she had been missing all her life and now that she had experienced it she was loathed to give it up. The sights, smells, and sounds that came with being jostled around in the throng were intoxicating to her and she never wanted to be sober again.

A hush fell over the crowd as the Grand Alpha climbed up to the presenter’s rock. He was an old dog of retriever stock, gray discoloring his once golden muzzle. His eyes were tired and it was clear by his stance that his bones ached, but he had a presence about him that exuded confidence and demanded respect. “Brothers and sisters,” he bellowed in a haggard voice. “I have called you all here for a momentous occasion. The events that take place today shall be told in our histories and reenacted by our clan’s finest performers. Join me now in song, so that we may remember our fallen and ascended; those revered among our ranks and damned. Let your voices rise…”

The ensuing chorus of howls was unearthly in nature, voices calling out in various pitches and tones yet still strangely in harmony with one and other. Glancing fleetingly at Nerio, Azara picked up the song, howling long and deep into the forest canopy above. After several moments the noise began to die down and all eyes were on the Grand Alpha again. However, before any words had left his lips a loud and fierce snarl was heard and a great blur of fur and limbs began sprinting towards the old dog. Azara had feared this day for years and now her most horrific nightmares were being realized. It couldn’t happen; if it did she may just die of grief. He couldn’t do this. She wouldn’t let him do this.

She took off after the dog. Nerio realized who it must be seconds after she had bolted, and she barely heard him scream “Azara, don’t!” before her younger brother’s voice was lost in the cacophony around her. She dodged and twisted, trying in vain to keep from knocking anyone over with her oversized body. The crowd cleared in front of her suddenly and she could see her target not yards ahead of her. Pushing herself to her limits she pulled ahead so that she was keeping pace with him. She could see his face now; the unfiltered rage burning in his eyes.

“Damek, please!” She tried to plead with him. “You need to stop!

Damek would not stop. It was likely he couldn't hear her, so absorbed in his mission was he. He was almost upon the Grand Alpha now, the dignified retriever’s eyes now filled with fear and the guards around him milling about before him aimlessly, not quite sure of whom was attacking in all the chaos. Azara saw her brother push off the ground, fangs bared and claws ready to tear apart any and all who got in his way. All reason, all semblance of a plan left Azara’s mind in that moment. She twisted her body, turning in midair. Her paws touched the ground and then she was off again like a spring, hitting her elder brother with all her weight and pinning him to the ground. He swiftly flipped her and the struggle turned into an all-out brawl. She could feel Damek’s teeth and claws piercing her flesh and was sure he could feel the same from her. They grappled with each other and the gathering watched with baited breath, unsure of who would come out the victor. While he was distracted trying to immobilize her front right leg, Azara saw her opening and took it, grabbing her brother by the ruff and slamming him into the ground.

She panted heavily atop his shocked and prone form. The thought occurred to her that she could easily disembowel him at this moment, but let it pass before it could make her sick. Damek stared up at her in awe and wonder. He raised a paw, causing her to growl low in her throat, but all he did was touch the side of her face tenderly. “Azara…?” he whispered hoarsely; brokenly. In that instant the madness and cruelty faded from his yellow eyes and Azara could see the scared and confused puppy that hid beneath. Tears began to cloud her eyes.

“That’s right, Dek, that’s right. It’s okay now; you’re okay. Spirits, Dek, where have you been?” Damek smiled up at her and nuzzled her sweetly, licking the tears from her cheek.

“I’ve been collecting,” he said proudly, and it broke Azara’s heart to see the insane spark back in his gaze. “Collecting those who have seen the truth. They know, Azara, they know. The Grand Alpha has to die, see, and all the Council. They’re the ones that ruin everything. They’re the evil here. They sent Mom away, Zara, they took her from us and then they killed her and they’ll kill you and Nerio too if we don’t-

Stop!” She broke in, cutting him off. “You know they didn’t kill her. You know but you can’t remember. I agree that what they did to Mom was wrong but no one has to die for stupid, outdated laws. You don’t have to do this.”

“I do!” He insisted, his expression now hard and unforgiving. He began to struggle, trying to dislodge her from on top of him. “Get off, Azara! You don’t understand!” Before he could maneuver out from under her she slashed him across the face. He stilled immediately, and it nearly made her physically ill to see the bloody gashes adorning her brother’s once handsome – now ruined – face.

“I do understand,” She replied, her tone sharp and commanding. “I understand that you’re a lost cause. All you know is violence and bloodshed. You will not lay a paw on the Grand Alpha and that is an order. Do you hear me, brother? An order!” She stepped away from him then, allowing the newly disfigured male to rise. His expression was a conflicted one; fear, anger, and despite all, love, warred on his face. After several moments he made a short, loud bark, and with it his accomplices ceased their own attacks and ran for the cover of the dense foliage of the forest floor. Damek took several steps backwards, wearing a look of anger and pity.

“I’ll show you, Azara. I’m not giving up on you. I’ll show all of you!” The last was addressing the clan as a whole, and with that final statement Damek disappeared behind his companions, into the forest and his beloved shadows. Nerio burst through the crowd then, sprinting up to his sister and asking if she was okay. Azara said nothing. She only looked out into the thick brush, her gaze following her elder brother’s path. She could still smell him, his scent and blood coating her fur. She suddenly collapsed, body failing her as she was wracked with sobs. Nerio stood above her fidgeting worriedly, and clumsily stepped aside when the Grand Alpha padded up behind him. The old dog put a paw on the crying bitch’s shoulder, and spoke to her softly.

“You have my most sincere thanks for your saving my life, my dear heart. I will give you a few moments to mourn, but then we have urgent business to attend to. I ask for you to stand with me during my announcement, as it involves you directly. Do you agree to this?” Wiping at her sodden face she nodded weakly.

“Yes sir.” She answered quietly. “I will agree to any decree you make.” The elder smiled, his brown eyes alighting on her softly.

“That’s good to hear, dear heart, as my next one may just change your life.”

Alright, Vitani, Hobbit, you're both in, for sure. C: Vitani, even if you've not roleplayed, you clearly know how to write. The two aren't much different, honestly, the hardest part is just adapting your posts to be able to react to everyone else's. That's why my RP posts tend to be a lot shorter than my actual writing, I like to leave room for everyone else to wiggle around. But it's easier to learn by doing anyway.

Well, since we already officially have three of us, we should probably figure out what exactly we're gonna do with RP. I don't want to overplan, but I'd like to get a few things crystal clear, and then I can throw up a thread and we can get going. You know what that means? :D MORE TEDIOUS LISTS!

1. I think the most obvious, which character will we be using? We've had a little time to think on it now, and we've seen each other's now, so if you could maybe include your opinion on who would go best with the group for each other's characters as well as which we're choosing for our own? Don't feel pressured, if you feel like you'd rather play the other character, just go for it, but I really like to hear outside opinions myself. C:

Like I said before, I think all your characters are really strong, but Vitani, I think Starly's a bit cooler, and I think I like Shinx a little more than Poochyena. But I really like the themes in both of your other characters too, so feel free to take my opinion with a grain of salt, heh. I'm favouring Sewaddle a bit for my own character.

2. Just to iron out a few points we left somewhat ambiguous. The big disaster issue: is it okay if I do Suicune, Entei, and Raikou, or should I stay safe and do Groudon and Kyogre? We don't have to figure out the cause behind their rampage, yet, but currently I'm favouring ideas A and C from my monster post with my character concepts uvu

3. Evolution, I think I'd like to have at least anyone who evolves in their teen levels be able to. (Totodile, Starly, Shinx, Poochyena...) That might be a bit awkward if I do go with Sewaddle, since we'll have this puny dork hanging around... Not that Swadloon is much better XD I also had the idea of rare, sacred places that can only be used once every 100 years or so dotted across the continent that we could come across in our exploration, and one of us could be like 'heck yeah, I wanna evolve!'. I dunno. Not that this would come up right away...

4. The last one, the immediate problem. What brings our group together, and what should our first exploration be? What's the immediate region like? Are we wandering the wilderness, or hanging around a town? Should a disaster engulf the town and we have to dive in and save the survivors or escape? It could be as simple as just meeting at a shop, or something as big as we're the only ones left willing and able to fight. I'm not sure about this one yet... I'd like to hear what you think xnx

I'm sorry that I have so little actually planned! I feel kind of bad asking so many questions XD

I LOVE TEDIOUS LISTS. THEY'RE MY FAVORITE LISTS.

1. For our teams, I think Cubone and Totodile would go best with Poochyena, and Shinx would do better with Starly and Sewaddle, so that works out, at least for Leafy! XD I myself am leaning a bit more towards Shinx myself, as a see a lot of opportunity for character development with him.

2. I think using the Beasts would be really cool, as they can wreak some serious havoc if they wanted to, and still be aware enough to know what they're doing. I think that plot A could work well; Our team could try to convince the Legendaries that every Pokemon is fundamentally good, but they might need a little help. Its up to us to redeem Pokemon in their eyes. I also think it would be fun if (if our group stays three) each us played one of the beasts.

3. I'm for evolution, though I think that it should only occur after a huge, important battle or some essential personal growth. I don't think it would be a good idea to have them all evolve at once, so we should try to space that out.

4. This might be selfish of me, but I tend to do what my characters tell me to. XD It isn't likely that Shinx would leave his adoptive parents unless someone A) invited him along, and B) convinced him to go. For that reason, it might be best if all our Pokemon showed up/lived in the same town. It would have to be a big enough town that they never would have met though.

The first meeting could be one of the town's younger kids got lost and our group volunteers to go find them, or there's a town event such as a scavenger hunt and they find they really like exploring. There are many possibilities for that scenario.

Those are just some of my ideas. I'm excited to here what Vitani has to say!

1. I am leaning more towards Starly for my own character, and as for teams, I enjoy a balanced team, so I agree with the combinations that Hobbit has come up with.

2. I like the ideas A and B most. For A, I think we'd have to introduce some other legendaries, different to the ones we've discussed so far. I can imagine a "god-like" Pokemon like Arceus, as well as other important Generation 4 Legends being unhappy with the world. For plot B, we could stick with the Legends we have so far, and add as we go.

3. I agree with Hobbit. Evolving should be a marker for physical and mental growth in the character, and I think they should be triggered by an event or a place.

4. I whipped some story ideas up for each of the overarching ideas. (The first time I wrote, it took me longer than half an hour and I timed out of my account, and lost it all 3 - rewriting might not be as nice)

A - All appears well, until from the East, messengers and Bird Pokemon appear on the horizon. (Wherever they live) Town is thrown into a panic as the Bird Pokemon warn of incoming danger, of enraged Legendaries and horrible disasters. Council leaders of the town are unable to stop the panic and maintain order, families fleeing and following behind the Bird Pokemon. In the escaping crowds, stragglers, weak, young and the unfortunate are trampled on and left behind. Here, our characters meet. They first help the injured, set up messages for any passers-by about what happened to the town and direct the stragglers towards the right path. As the most capable of those left behind, our characters walk towards the source of the tales of devastation.

B - It is harvest season. In (wherever they live) town, a large festival and community feast is being set up. Adult Pokemon are in charge of planning, decorating - all the adult stuff. Those that don't have their own berry trees and crop fields are encouraged to gather food from the wilds as a contribution to the feast. Adult Pokemon entrust the younger Pokemon with this task. It is often seen as a coming-of-age to act as a part of the town. In the wilds, our characters meet. They soon become acquainted and friendly. A few days before the festival and feast, they set out to gather more wild food. Unbeknownst to them, while they are outside, starving Legends come down from the skies and mountains, appearing starved and angry. They stake claim to the town, and ravage it in search of food, tearing apart the food stores for the feast. When our team arrives back they find a mess of a town. It appears abandoned, until they see the adult Pokemon fighting back agains the Legends. A Loudred shouts them a warning, and tells them to flee, find help, and deliver the warning message to neighbouring towns.

C - An evil Pokemon/Legend controls a horde of Poison Pokemon, forcing them to dump toxic secretions into natural water sources. (Wherever they live) Town is unaffected and appear healthy, as they get water from the number of underwater wells they have. However, a nomadic Pokemon arrives at their town, appearing weak yet angry, and starts attacking innocent Pokemon. The sickly nomad is easily overpowered but worries the town, once he is recognised. The Pokemon is normally a quiet peaceful Pokemon, and it becomes clear that something has gone horribly wrong. Tales of weak zombie-like nomads appear all over the region. The town sets up search and rescue parties to go and retrieve the nomads before they fall prey to the "illness". Our characters might meet here. They are slightly successful, finding both healthy and unhealthy nomads. However, disaster strikes again, as the evil Pokemon now takes a horde of Ground Pokemon and finally the dim-witted Groudon. Earthquakes and tales of travellers being attacked by cave-going pokemon now appear all across the region. As the unknown Pokemon cycles through the elements, it becomes clear that all these Pokemon are innocent and fight against their will. Fire Pokemon attack forests, water Pokemon attack coastal towns, flying Pokemon come crashing down like meteorites etc.,

Oh my gosh I want to smooch both of you guys so much thank you.

Well, it seems our team is settled in then! That's good. Another thing that just occurred to me would be moves. I think for now it would be best if we had all moves available to us from level 5 and below, and one egg move of our choosing. I think moves, like evolution, should come as a mark of personal growth, if not as significant. I'd have Tackle, String Shot, and Air Slash, if that's alright with you then.

I really like Hobbit's idea of each of us playing one of the legends, actually, that sounds pretty radical. :0 I think A is probably our safest bet, and I think you're right Vitani, there probably would be bigger legends at play, but they wouldn't come in for a fair while, so we don't have to sweat that too much. The Gen IV ones are our most likely bets, yeah.

Hobbit, there's nothing selfish about playing your character in-character in my opinion, but that actually has gotten me in trouble in an RP before, heh. So that's why I'm careful and keep a lot of things open now, to make sure all our characters have a good dynamic, that while isn't always happy all the time, won't throw the RP to a complete halt. But I dont' blame you at all for feeling that way.

I feel kind of like a fusion of Vitani's ideas A and B would be best. There could be a big harvest festival at the town in question. I'd assume Shinx lived there, and possibly Starly. Sewaddle, banished from his home village, would have happened to drift in around this time, but have volunteered to aid in preparations. (Alternatively, he could meet your characters out in the woods gathering, where he would gladly agree to help out) But then, in the middle of the festival, a lone messenger stumbles in (or a flock of birds, with Starly included. Dunno) and warns of a great disaster at hand.

This can go one of two ways. Either the town does not believe him and continue their celebration, only to be completely devastated by the coming disaster, or they do listen and are whipped up into a total panic as you suggested in A. In either case, though, the town would be ravaged and the characters would be sent off to warn other villages of the coming danger, or, if the destruction is bad enough, just to escape the danger.

I think it'd a bit strange for the team to just wander right into imminent danger, is all that's really wrong with idea A. It's not bad, but it'd seem a little insane and could mess with the pacing. However, since there are three deadly forces constantly on the move, they'd likely bump into a different legend first. I think Entei would be the most dramatic to strike during the harvest festival, but we could use Suicune's blizzard/north wind to destroy the harvest festival, which would be pretty symbolic or something. The first one we could bump into would be Raikou.

Does anyone have any preference for which legendary they play? Suicune is my definite favourite of the beasts, but I like Raikou a lot too.

Haha, yeah, I had a bit of trouble thinking of reasons for them to face off against the Legends. Your combination idea is great :D

For movesets, I get Tackle, Growl, Quick Attack, and a breeding move - I'm torn between Roost and Uproar.

If we're playing as the Legends too, I'm most interested in Suicune and secondly, Entei.

I'll arm wrestle you for Suicune >:D

ahh, jk, jk. I'll take Raikou for now. Unless Hobbit wants Raikou. In which case I'll just panic. Should we give the legends gender?

If you want some advice with your egg move, I think Uproar suits his personality better than Roost, given his high energy. Also, could be a bit more meaningful since he lost his roost as a chick ;-; But if you prefer Roost, do Roost, man. ovo

OMG, lost his roost as a chick, you make me tear up Leafy 3

I'll go with Uproar then <3

Hehe, Suicune is usually the fave of the three dogs I imagine. I'm really fine with either though, so take her if you want >:D (I usually assume her for Suicune considering she has the female sign slapped on her head).

I took it to be more of an ankh than a Venus but they do look quite similar I suppose X3 Crystal was my very first game ever, so of course Suicune is my favourite.

But seriously, Raikou's pretty cool too. I mean who can resist that booty?

Spr_b_5b_243.png

unfffff. But yeah, Suicune does seem like the older sister of the legendary gerbils. And I suppose they'll have their individual personalities and takes on the end of the world too. Oh, Leafy, you overcomplicate things. ;-;

I'm in love with this plot, I really am! And you guys can just throw whichever legend is left at me; I'm not picky!

Shinx's moveset will be Tackle, Leer, and... well I'm still undecided as to what the breeding move will be. Can we use a move that you can't strictly breed for in that Pokemon? Shinx's dad was a strong and powerful leader, but I don't want to make the poor kid overpowered. I'd like an opinion on this one.

And there I go being selfish again! >_

Um, if it helps, TM moves technically can be bred onto babies, so if you don't like your egg moves, you can use one of those. Though honestly, I think one of the fang moves (maybe Fire or Ice, whichever fits your character) may be best? Mayyyybe Take Down? I mean, I gave Sewaddle Air Slash, but I'm actually thinking of changing it to Camoflague. I just felt an attack would be best, since Sewaddle is more direct, now. Dunno. Maybe also consider that in spite of Shinx's great natural talent, he is frightened of combat now. So right now his potential could be hidden. Don't worry. You're alright.

Glad you're pleased with the plot, then! :D If you don't mind having Entei, then I think we're basically set to start. :o Is there anything else I overlooked, or should I just throw up the thread? And who'll start? I think I can handle the village elders sending out Starly, Shinx, and the other kiddos, if that's okay with you guys, and Sewaddle'll meet them out in the woods.

One of the fang move would be good. I'm not sure if I want to use Thunder Fang just because it makes sense, or Fire Fang to be a bit more symbolic. And Ice Fang is really cool too... Arrgh! Just leave me in my corner, I'll figure it out. XD Though I don't think I want him to know he can use it at first, or otherwise be afraid of using it.

I'm cool with Entei! Feel free to get the ball rolling, Leafy!
