• PLOT •

Chernobyl was once a thriving city that was left abandoned from a radioactive explosion. Due to the radiation that now circulates throughout Chernobyl, it is eerily silent and devoid of human life. The only people who can be seen lately are tourists who venture on the outskirts of the land, safely away from dangerous radiation exposure. The only beings that remain are animals, who have unfortunately suffered from permanent disfiguration, mutations, and terminal and psychological illnesses. Every day is a struggle for survival, whether it be for territory, food, or getting past the dog who's mental stability has withered away from radiation poisoning. _____________________________________________________________________

Once upon a time there lived a cheerful community bustling with a youthful presence. Not anymore. This creepy area is filled with old toys, broken rides and tumbledown ticket booths. Mothers always whisper to their pups that this place is haunted and filled with forsaken souls. Just a tale, of course. Or is it?

More accurately labelled Red Forest by humans, this vast stretch of uninhabited woodland gives off an eerie sense of dread from it's silence and strangely red-coloured vegetation.

Ross | Male | 3 Years Old | Czechoslovakian Wolfdog | Loner
Location: Amusement Park | Mentions: Loon, Evergreen

Ross slipped around broken machinery on silent paws, the fur along his spine bristling. The park gave him the creeps, but it was the only place he could go to escape Mace's angry teeth. The amusement park always sent the Doberman into fits at just the mention of it. She would never venture here. Not even in search of him. She was yet another canine he had enlisted to serve as his personal guard dog, whispering all sorts of promises he could never hope to actually keep in her cropped ears. The relationship hadn't ended well. As soon as Mace realized Ross couldn't keep to his end of the bargain she'd turned on him. His friendship apparently wasn't enough in the end. It never was. "Well, this is perfect. Now I need to find a new protector. Especially to keep her away from me," he grunted irritably. The scents of unfamiliar dogs became apparent the deeper in he went and Ross proceeded with caution, poking his head out from behind a rusty old carousel. It wasn't long before golden eyes settled on a Saluki, or so he assumed, and a huge Great Dane. His heart skipped a beat. Now that's just what he was looking for!

Vera | Female | 2 Years Old | Yakutian Laika | Chernobyl Darkbloods | Subordinate
Location: Headquarters | Mentions: Sclera, North

Vera stared around the empty room in utter boredom before shifting her gaze to her left hind leg in annoyance. Only a few days prior she had been involved in an accident that had left a long, bloody gash across the limb, effectively confining her to the healer's den. She had been chasing some poor unfortunate soul through the abandoned theme park. After catching the little mutt he had put up more of a fight than she'd expected and knocked her into some broken equipment, skin and flesh torn on the rusty metal. The stranger had escaped with only a few scraps and scratches. leaving her to limp back home. Vera had been terrified. She would be useless like this. Barley able to walk with such a heavy limp and blood pouring out of the wound. How would she fight? How would she hunt? Would North banish her? Would he kill her? She had slunk back to headquarters as quietly as she could and sought out Sclera immediately. Luckily he'd taken some pity on her. North had not visited once or even acknowledged that she was hurt. Part of Vera was grateful her weakness had gone unnoticed, but she also desperately longed to see him. "Stupid leg! This is all your fault," she huffed, head flopping back down between her front paws.

Demetri | Male | 4 Years Old | Black Russian Terrier | Chernobyl Darkbloods | Subordinate
Location: Headquarters | Mentions: North, East, Aviur, Jahla

Demetri was just starting back into headquarters after a quick patrol around the perimeter when three shapes came into view. Two familiar, one not. Aviur and Jahla were his fellow Darkbloods. The third dog was the one he had never seen before, though she held a somewhat similar appearance to North. A relative perhaps? He said nothing as he followed the trio back inside the building, certain all would become clear soon enough.

East | Female | 4 Years, 6 Months | Beauceron | Darkblood Subordinate
Location: Headquarters
Mentions: Jahla, North

Though it hurt her, she wasn't surprised in the least that North hadn't told anyone about her. She had taken on a dangerous mission to go find their parents and had lost her tail in the process. But this dog seemed nice enough, and also seemed to understand that she wasn't a threat. The last thing she needed was to fight. She was more a hunter than a fighter, and it had taken her long enough to get over the idea of killing defenseless animals for food. Perhaps she was a bit strange to be North's sister.

As Jahla spoke, she nodded politely as a way of saying she understood what she was hearing. “Nice to meet you,” she said as the Groenendael turned to walk away. East picked up her loon and did her best to walk in a straight line with it though she most likely looked drunk from the fact she was carrying it by its neck and thus had more weight on one side.

The deeper in they got, the stronger the scent of dog, and she even saw a few staring at them, particularly her with her nub of a tail. But then she saw him, her brother. She dropped her bird and wagged her barely existent tail, barking, “North!” but not moving any closer. He could be a little snappy sometimes, so she wanted to see how he reacted to her enthusiastic greeting first.

Loon | Male | 4 Years | Great Dane | Loner
Location: Streets
Mentions: Evergreen, Ross

“My, miss, we're all a bit strange. It has nothing to do with that. It's dangerous to be out here because of the dog pack that roams around. They train hard to be fierce, but if they're facing two dogs, it becomes much harder for them to win. I wouldn't want to see you have to get into a fight with them if you don't have to. Let me travel with you; my size alone will scare off most,” he said, trying to sound as eloquent as possible to keep her calmer side instead of causing her aggression to flare up again. Perhaps she was bipolar, or schizophrenic, or, hell, both.

A scent caught on the breeze blew past, and he barked lowly, “Be cool. There's another dog nearby, they might approach.” Loon decided not to look at the dog, allowing whoever it was to believe they hadn't been discovered just yet. It was unfortunate that the winds here seemed to change direction so suddenly all the time. It made it difficult to hide.

Kade | Female | 4 years | Doberman Pinscher
Mentions: Roman
Location: Softcall Forest

Kade stood and walked after Roman. When he stopped, she almost ran into him. "I just heard a voice in my head," she said. "And I am not prone to that sort of thing." For some reason, she didn't feel the need to tell him what she'd heard. Had she heard it, or had it occurred to her as a thought? How did she know what to say to him to make everything alright? Something told her that he was nervous, needed to feel needed and in control, and it scared her that she didn't know what.

"We need to find somewhere to stay for the night." Kade didn't mention that she probably wouldn't sleep.

ROMAN | MALE | 4 YEARS | TAMASKAN
Mentions: Kade , Checkers and Sobaka (Scents them from afar)

He pivoted around, his bulky form nearly colliding with her more slender form as she strode after him. In an attempt to avoid an awkward entanglement with the doberman, he shuffled backwards, tossing his head back but unintentionally finding his nose brush against hers as he did so. The mention of Kade hearing voices in her head made his mouth tighten into a thin line, his expression growing grim. Though she didn't share exactly what it was she heard, he was quick to assume the worst. His brother used to hear dark voices in his head, and Roman secretly believed that was truly the reason why he had ended up abandoning them. There were occasions where he heard an eerie snarl at the back of his mind too; voices lilted with venomous intentions, fuelling his desire for chaos and carnage. He didn't want to end up like his brother; and he surely didn't want Kade to turn out so dark-hearted either.

"Anything I should be concerned about?" He rumbled, looking down at her with careful amber eyes. The silence that followed suggested she wasn't feeling the need to divulge with him, but nonetheless he acted nonchalant about it and continued on his way, making sure Kade remained close. His paws took him to a maze of fallen maple and sequoia trees, their trunks thick and hollow, more than large enough for two dogs to comfortably fit in. He immediately lay down and tested out their new potential bed, turning around a few times to get comfortable. "This should be okay, at least for a single night," He growled softly, before suddenly stopping in his tracks. The woods around them were silent, but a distant scent made him prick his ears and become overwhelmed with nostalgia. It was.. familiar, but somehow very, very distant and unknown to him. Another smell accompanied it, undeniably dog.

NORTH | MALE | 4 YEARS 6 MONTHS | BEAUCERON
Mentions: East, Jahla, Vera, Ronan, Aviur

Muscles rippled beneath the large dog's skin as he paced irritably from left to right, his tail raised sharply behind him. He ignored the possibility of the trespasser being a canine he was familiar with; the strange feelings that greeted him as he picked up traces of the scent must just be in his head. Confident that his dogs would handle the unwelcomed guest accordingly, he swept on, "As I was saying. Jahla, Ronan, Aviur.. Ah," He suddenly tilted his head, at a loss for words, "Whats her name? The female I haven't seen much work done from in a while. Ve.. Vera? She can make herself useful and go as well. Anyone else who believes they'll have some damn success out there, join them. I don't want to be waitin-" The beauceron allowed a growl to rip from his throat as he was interrupted from his speech, the sound of claws clicking on the floor distracting him. "What now?" He snapped as he turned to face the dogs, barely registering the familiarity of the voice that spoke to him until his golden brown eyes finally landed on her.

Looking at East was like looking into a mirror, their differences there but very subtle. Though it had only been years, their separation had felt like years; North shared a bond with his sister that he was unlikely to share with any other dog he'd come to meet. He gave himself a shake, his paws seemingly planted into the floor. "East?" He finally breathed the name out, his tail finally wagging behind him. "East!" He barked in a playful manner, his ears propping forward like an excited pup. He jumped forward to meet his sister, jumping around her and giving her affectionate little nudges. As he padded around her, he realized something wasn't quite right. The kindness melted from his gaze and his face twisted sharply, a deep growl rumbling in the depths of his chest, "What in the hell happened to you?" He snapped, glancing past her to where her tail was supposed to be. Whoever caused this sort of damage to her would have to pay.

JAHLA | FEMALE | 4 YEARS | GROENENDAEL
Mentions: North, East, Demetri

She acknowledged the alpha's reaction with a formal dip of her head, quickly dismissing herself from view so North could be reunited with his sister. Retreating to the side of the quarters, she slowed her gait down as she slid past Demetri, turning herself around so she could silently sit down next to him. She remained silent as she watched their exchanges, her tail curled carefully around her paws in a cat-like fashion, "Who would've figured?" She said under her breath, her three honey-coloured eyes glancing in the Russian terrier's direction, "They look a like, but they certainly act nothing a like. Well.." Her tone shifted as she watched her foul-tempered alpha suddenly transform into a giant puppy, jumping around East in a manner she'd never, ever seen him do before. Most of the dogs in the room shared her shock, "I take that back," She finished.

East | Female | 4 Years, 6 Months | Beauceron
Mentions: North, other pack dogs

North acting like a giant puppy only sent her into her own fit of jumping and playful yips. It had been so long in dog time, and at times, she had wondered if she would ever see her dear brother again. But of course, East was the optimist of the two, so she tended to believe that yes, they would meet again. And here they were. Happiness swelled in her heart at the sight of a brother that she knew could be cruel and ruthless, but had such a huge soft spot for her. East liked to believe he had to have that nature in order to survive in this world, especially since she didn't.

Her name on his tongue made her bark, “North! North!” in the most excited way she was capable of. She returned his nudges, bumping his shoulder with hers, giving him a quick lick on his muzzle, but then he noticed her tail. Or what was left of it. She lowered her head and her ears drooped a bit.

“The radiation got to me,” she said quietly. “I was lucky. It started it my tail, and Dad was able to chew through it to keep it from getting any farther into my body. I know it's pretty ugly now, but I probably would have died if it weren't removed. Don't be mad at Dad for it.”

East wagged the tiny, chewed up nub. “It still moves a little. See?” She moved to nuzzle under his chin like she used to when she was scared. “Come on, North. Don't worry about my tail. I've got enough personality to make up for it, don't I? Besides, I want to meet the pack. They're quiet loyal from what I've seen.”

|Checkers|Male|Tamaskan Dog|4 Years old|Chernobyl Darkblood|Lieutenant
Location: Softcall Forest | Mentions: Sobaka, Nora

Checkers glared at Sobaka. He should be smart enough - even with how dumb he was - to know that Checkers didn't really think he was a friend. Quite the opposite in fact. He would have called the stupid dog Billy and have killed him off by now if he wasn't North's pet. "Stupid dog, is so stupid he's stupid..." he muttered idly before turning back to Sobaka, acting as if he hadn't just been talking to himself. "Let's go now, shall we? Like I said, it would be best to leave this little dog alone. And I don't want to hear any excuses of why we can't leave," he growled, his eyes flashing. He turned and pointed his paw in the direction Sobaka had came from. "Now if you would, friend, show me to North. I must meet up with my old comrade again. No dilly-dallying!"

Kade | Female | 4 years | Doberman Pinscher
Mentions: Roman
Location: Softcall Forest

Kade shook her head. "Something about the pack in the city and how dreaming isn't going to save me," she said, not feeling the need to quote it to him, even though it was burned into her memory. She followed him into the tree trunk, waiting for him to lie down before she did the same. When he stopped, however, Roman seemed to be smelling something, and after a moment, she could smell it as well. Dogs?

"Whoever it is, we can worry about them tomorrow," Kade said quietly, half-wondering why he always growled everything. She was not an enemy, but perhaps he just didn't know how to speak any other way. The tree looked comfortable, and if she couldn't sleep, she'd have room to sit off to the side without waking Roman. "I may actually sleep tonight, or at least soon. Enough things have changed in my life just today, and if my prolonged wakefulness and sleep have been based on the fact that i was alone, it may now be different."

((Yes I know you planned on closing it down but I had to.))

|Sclera|Male|Azawakh|Chernobyl Darkblood|Healer|Darkblood Camp|Mentions: North, East, and Vera|

Sclera sneered in shock at the back and forth puppy-ish reaction from his leader and this strange female. His fur rose up on end as his lips peeled back from his teeth before he quickly schooled is reaction, it seemed who ever this female was that they were family to North in some way or another. The skinny dog rose up and stretched out, letting his nails from both sets of front paws scrape over the ground before he shook himself off. Deciding to pick up a dismembered cat leg he quickly turned tail and headed back towards the room he was currently keeping as his own den for the sick or injured. Sclera currently had a patient he felt some pity for, the mean-spirited Vera who seemed to have a few screws loose. He had only joined this pack for the guarantee of safety, but it seemed this female had set her eye on North himself to swoon. The black azawakh snorted loudly around his mouthful of prey limb, eyes scanning the room as he closed out all emotion again before he settled on the sled-dog breed with her injured leg. Dropping the cat’s leg he batted it towards her before speaking. ”Growling and snarling at your leg will not help it heal. Now eat.” He ordered before hopping up onto an old metal table that didn’t even rock as he settled onto it.
