• PLOT •

Chernobyl was once a thriving city that was left abandoned from a radioactive explosion. Due to the radiation that now circulates throughout Chernobyl, it is eerily silent and devoid of human life. The only people who can be seen lately are tourists who venture on the outskirts of the land, safely away from dangerous radiation exposure. The only beings that remain are animals, who have unfortunately suffered from permanent disfiguration, mutations, and terminal and psychological illnesses. Every day is a struggle for survival, whether it be for territory, food, or getting past the dog who's mental stability has withered away from radiation poisoning. _____________________________________________________________________

Once upon a time there lived a cheerful community bustling with a youthful presence. Not anymore. This creepy area is filled with old toys, broken rides and tumbledown ticket booths. Mothers always whisper to their pups that this place is haunted and filled with forsaken souls. Just a tale, of course. Or is it?

More accurately labelled Red Forest by humans, this vast stretch of uninhabited woodland gives off an eerie sense of dread from it's silence and strangely red-coloured vegetation.

Nora | Female | Softcall Forest | Interacting with Checkers, Open for Interaction

She stopped walking, turning and smiling awkwardly at the dog. "Hello... there?" Nora said nervously, before moving in front of him, trying to at least be polite, although her tail was tucked so far in between her legs that you could barely see it.
"Nice to meet you..." The Gerberian Shepsky said in a hushed tone, avoiding being too loud. He had a bad aura around him, but he was acting cheerful and excited. It was strange... was he delusional? Most likely, seeing that the environment was how it was.

Location: Crossing into Softcall forest.

The shepherd turns her head slowly as a howl erupts not too far from away. The noise sends a chill up her spine and her paws instinctively begin moving towards it. She pauses a moment as her feet leave pavement and sink into the soft, red grass. What was she doing? She didn't know who or what made that howl so why go towards it? They could be aggressive or deranged or.. she grunts quietly as she realizes she's moving again, directly towards where she heard the call. Her pace slows down as she catches the scent of another dog and she perks her large ears, her head turning back and forth like a radar dish to see if she could pick up any more noise with her one good ear.

ROMAN | MALE | 4 YEARS | TAMASKAN DOG
Location: Softcall Forest
Mentions: Kade

The contact catches him off guard and he's quick to flinch at the touch of her forepaw, but he does not move away. Instead, he stands eerily still, waiting for her to remove the speck of blood. His contact with other canines has been very minimal for a long time, aside from the occasional violent dispute he often found himself engaged in with other territorial males. Her touch on him is light and almost soothing, nothing sharp and offensive like he feels himself subconsciously bracing for. "Thank you?" He responds almost stupidly, sounding more like a question than a genuine reply. He doesn't really say thank you very often, either.

As she continues on, his amber-crimson eyes narrow with familiarity. He recalls some very malicious spars in his previous dreams, but as he meets her gaze one stands out in particular. A doberman with a slender form and dark eyes had engaged him once, causing him to react in a flurry of snarling fangs and sharp claws, eager to sink them into the flesh of his enemy. Surely he hadn't somehow dreamt of Kade at that moment? He had never been in her presence in the past. "I don't doubt it," He growls in his deep voice, "I've ended so many lives while I sleep I can't even begin to count them out. Not to mention.." He trails off, snapping his jaws shut. He shouldn't be so eager to admit his murderous habits, it might just rub the doberman the wrong way. "Have you ever killed someone?" He inquires slowly, looking her up and down. It wouldn't be an out of the ordinary thing for any dog around here, but he's always curious about the stories that surround the murders. What exactly drives a dog to ignore their morality and end a life?

|Checkers|Male|Tamaskan Dog|4 Years old|
Location: Softcall Forest | Mentions: Nora

Checkers could see that she was afraid. Her tail was so far between her hind legs it was like it wasn't there in the first place. But even if she appeared outwardly confident, he would still know she was scared - he was great at reading others. And if he was honest to himself, he found it cute. He couldn't stand it if she didn't notice he was... not quite right.
"Lovely to meet you as well," Checkers murmured, his voice too high and preppy. She was the first dog he had talked to in a while, after all. "My name is Checkers, of the breed of the Tamaskan Dogs. Now by what are you called?"

|Zulu|Male|Pitbull Mix|Alleyways|Mentions: Manolo|

See that the smaller dog had let his guard down slightly made his tail wag more as he dropped the crushed bone from his meal and set about cleaning blood off of the curly fur that showed along his chest, his posture still calm and relaxed to show he meant Manny no harm at all. He hadn’t been expecting the question that was asked though, it threw him off as he lifted his head and looked back down the alleyway with narrowed eyes. The shapes that seemed to grow closer were beginning to bother him, their whispering made him edgy, but he quickly looked back to the small male before opening his mouth to speak. ”I was born here Manolo, I was born within the Softcall forest and that’s where I normally stay. Until the fog rolls all the way into town, that’s when I slip in to catch food. What about you?” Talking seemed to make the figures hesitate and back off, his answer even making some of them fade in his mind.

|Sclera|Male|Azawakh|Chernobyl Darkblood|Healer|Supermarket|Open for Interaction|

The thin black shape had a smaller shape clutched in its jaws, claws ‘tic-ing’ over the once clean store floor as the canine moved towards the exit with an easy gait. His extra limbs making his movements seem much more fluid then they really were. Blood splattered the floor underneath his paws as the fat feline in his jaws started trying to escape again, snarling he gave a shake of his head and further widening the blood trail into splatters till the cat quit moving. Satisfied with his catch, he continued towards the area where he knew the Darkbloods most likely were. He could hear his stomach growling in hunger, his insides clawing at themselves out of hunger but he didn’t even think of eating his catch as an option at the moment. He would later if there was anything left to be had, but for the moment there were others that needed the food more than he did.

SOBAKA | MALE | 2 YEARS | BORZOI | ALPHA'S SERVANT
Location: Amusement Park
Mentions: North - Open For Interaction

The cold that was beginning to bite into his skin made the young dog shiver, something that was barely noticeable to those who knew the Russian wolfhound. Sobaka was constantly trembling, having a lack of control over his nervous system which made him awkwardly step around on shaky, deer-like limbs. Though, realistically, he had another reason to be frightened; his outing to retrieve his foul-tempered alpha something to eat was proving to be unsuccessful. He'd already been wandering about for several hours, he predicted it wouldn't be long until someone was sent to fetch him. "Okay, okay. They'll be here. They're always here. What do you mean, they won't be here?" His thin muzzle snapped around in the empty air, speaking to no one in particular. He was being taunted again by the sneering whisperings of the snow-coloured dog with the jet black eyes. Why did that mongrel insist on living in his head, he'd never know. "Stop it," He snarled, picking up the pace as a scent came to his nose; pigeons. "I'm going to get them. Oh yes, come here. No, no. Don't fly. Please, I'll make sure it doesn't hurt.." Like a bullet, his lanky form shoots towards the group of grey birds, his tongue lolling out of his mouth wildly. He's barely even paying attention to where he's going.

NORTH | MALE | 4 YEARS | BEAUCERON | DARKBLOOD ALPHA
Location: Darkblood Camp (Abandoned Medical Clinic)
Mentions: General Packmembers, Sobaka

His servant's presence was growing increasingly scarce, which just made the massive black dog grin with satisfaction. Clearly his puny little omega was just busy fetching him a large, wholesome meal. He knew better than to bring him anything less. Yet, soon he began to attribute it to a lack of duty. This dog was proving to be incompetent, and was costing the Alpha his hunger. He'd be punished for making him wait- not to mention he'd be punished for returning with empty jaws. With a mighty snarl, he used a giant forepaw to swipe angrily at a thick femur bone he had been gnawing on, it's size large enough to leave it's origins to debate. "Where is that grimy little runt?" He snarled to the remainder of his pack who had remained at base with him. They all knew exactly who he was speaking of, "I will have his head on a stick when he returns- get up, you lot, and organize a hunting party. You've left me waiting far too long," His lips curled back as he ran his tongue slowly across his fangs. And where the hell is Checkers? He thought grimly to himself.

Kade | Female | 4 years | Doberman Pinscher
Mentions: Roman
Location: Softcall Forest

Kade shuddered ever-so-slightly as he asked. Before answering, she removed the speck of blood and took a moment to compose herself.

"Once," she whispered, barely audible, though it was apparent that this would not be something she repeated. "I killed one time, in self-defense, and I never plan to again. It was a year and a few months ago, and I was still alone, and I still dreamed, though I slept more regularly then and could be woken. I was in heat at the time but hadn't seen anyone around for quite a while, so I thought everything was fine. And I was woken, cornered, by some male . . ." It seemed that whatever happened after that was too horrible for her to speak of.

After a moment or so, Kade sighed and continued, "Well, I didn't get him that time, but a few days later I happened upon him and he attacked me. I ripped his throat out. At least I'd been able to be woken at that point. I don't know what I'd have done if it happened now." A single tear rolled down her face and dropped to the ground.

Aviur | 4 Yrs | Doberman Pinscher | DarkBlood Subordinate
Location: DarkBlood Camp
Mentions: North & Pack

Aviur's bloodshot eyes shoot open at the sound of North's booming voice and he heaves himself to his feet. A few quiet curses come out of the Doberman's mouth as he staggers a few steps forward and glances around at the other members of the pack, letting out a curt snort. The last thing he wanted to do right now was hunt, but he wasn't about to tell North that. The dog's obnoxiously long nails scrape sharply against the pavement as he hastily joins the other canines that had gotten up to go on the hunt, causing him to stumble a bit when they caught on the cracks in the parking lot. His stained teeth bare when he comes to stop at another dog's side but he doesn't shift his gaze to look at them, his eyes staring ahead at a few crumbling buildings.

|Sclera|Male|Azawakh|Chernobyl Darkblood|Healer|Darkblood Camp|Mentions: North, General Pack|

His eyes flickered over the camp curiously when he entered the building, his head tilting and spilling a few more splatters of blood as he watched the other dogs struggle to form a hunting party. Sclera took another sweeping glance of the cult’s camp with a hum before moving forward with a purposeful stride, head held high as moved towards where North was busy snarling out his orders and demands. Stopping a few paces from the much bulkier brute, he dropped the cat and stepped back to bow slightly, respectfully. ”My own hunt was successful, seeing as Sobaka has yet to return with any food.’’ He spoke calmly, his voice cold and distant as he stood back up properly. He truly hoped that the shaky borzoi came back with something else as well, knowing that a cat may not be much to eat for North. But atleast it was something.

Nora | Female | Softcall Forest | Interacting with Checkers, Open for Interaction

She cleared her throat and nodded. To be honest, his cheery tone comforted her in a way. Like how a human would baby-talk a puppy or cute dog. But this did not stop her from feeling intimidated. "I am... Nora, a Gerberian Shepsky. In other words, a German Shepherd, Siberian Husky hybrid." Nora said, smiling an awkward, toothy smile.
"Please forgive me if I am being rude." The sporty dog said, heads swiveling backwards, keeping her head low. This made her look up at him in a way that looked like a begging puppy.

|Checkers|Male|Tamaskan Dog|4 Years old|Chernobyl Darkblood|Lieutenant
Location: Softcall Forest | Mentions: Nora

Shy one, wasn't she?
This was good for Nora, since Checkers hated dogs that acted all superior. Instead of snapping at her, he inclined his head. "You aren't being rude at all, dear," he said kindly. He thought he heard a sudden noise to the right, and he jerked his head in that direction. I swear, if that's another cat... Checkers thought darkly.
He turned back to Nora. Looking at her reminded him of an old friend of his... Not Billy, of course, but a dog that was actually on his level. North, that had been his name. Well, Checkers liked to call him King, and sometimes Emperor to see his reaction. He had been the opposite of this dog - intimidating, powerful, and the lord of dogs.
How Checkers wanted to see his friend again. Him or any of his group, really.
Suddenly, he found himself asking, "You wouldn't have happened to see any dogs around here, would you? They're a bit like me, if you know what I mean." He awkwardly lifted his paw and pawed his face, indicating how he wasn't 'right' in the head. Hopefully she would understand. "The leader If you haven't, then that's fine."

ROMAN | MALE | 4 YEARS | TAMASKAN DOG
Location: Softcall Forest
Mentions: Kade

As much as he'd love to retain his usual habit of rolling his eyes and throwing an insult in her face, her expression surprisingly provokes some sympathy from him. His amber eyes soften at her, even if just ever so slightly, and he gives her a small, innocent laugh, "There is no need to feel guilty- I can see it in your eyes. Your case was self defence. Even so, there is no justice left in this city," His deep voice grew grim and serious, "The act of murder is one that will continue to go unpunished and has become a societal norm. I can respect your desire to maintain your innocence and your morality- but in some cases, that will do you no good." He observes her, watching a single crystal-clear tear slide down the side of her black and beige fur, flicking off and hitting the ground below her paws. She was crying, and Roman immediately felt his body tense up. He hadn't cried since he was a pup.. he couldn't, he'd never let himself. Not in this world where he was all on his own with not a single soul to offer him comfort. He hadn't had another shed tears in his presence for years- the last individual he saw in such sorrow was his mother. The memory stung like a shard of glass. "Come on," Even he was surprised at how gentle his voice sounded as he spoke to her, leaning his muzzle forward to give her a small little nudge on her cheek. The tip of his nose wiped the tear away, as though it were never even there in the first place, "No need for sadness. You're strong- I've witnessed it myself," As silence engulfed them briefly, he awkwardly tried to apologize, "I'm.. sorry for bringing such a morbid thing up. I shouldn't have. It's just.. terribly enough, the only thing I can really relate to."

NORTH | MALE | 4 YEARS | BEAUCERON | DARKBLOOD ALPHA
Location: Darkblood Camp (Abandoned Medical Clinic)
Mentions: Sclera, Aviur, Ronan, Evergreen, Checkers, Sobaka, Jahla

The scent of blood had his head snapping up and his tongue swiping eagerly around his scarred muzzle. Momentarily the lithe form of Sclera returned, and he offered the Azakah a dark smile, "Alas, you have not failed me. Good work, Sclera. When the main hunt is concluded, you shall eat first alongside I," With a mighty leap, the beauceron's paws hit the floor, striding over to claim the cat as his own. Without a care, he began to rip the small carcass limb from limb, consuming as much meat as he could handle. "Aviur, Ronan, Evergreen, Jahla. Get together and organize a hunt. If you come across Sobaka and Checkers while out, send them to me immediately," He narrowed his golden brown eyes, a concoction of dark thoughts brewing in his head. It was unlikely Checkers would be punished, as it was known that the beauceron had a tendency to favour his Lieutenant- but Saboka? He'd likely publicly humiliate the poor hound for being so incompetent. "Don't prove to be as useless as the omega has been. I expect you all back within the hour."

SOBAKA | MALE | 2 YEARS | BORZOI | ALPHA'S SERVANT
Location: Amusement Park , Softcall Forest
Mentions: Checkers, Nora

Narrowing his gaze to single out one unfortunate ornithurae, the borzoi's claws clicked loudly on the hardened ground as his pursuit continues. The pigeon that is scrambling desperately away from the half-crazy mutt appears to have a physical disability, it's legs warped and tangled up in each other and it's back arched in a rather peculiar fashion. It can't fully fly, but it manages to flutter ungracefully away from him, weaving back and forth to avoid Sobaka's snapping jaws. He chases the frightened creature out of the Amusement Park and into a darker, vegetated part of the city that is eerily still and blanketed in scarlet leaves. "Come on.. come on.." He practically hisses as he nearly snags it with his teeth... Bam! Too late. He's abruptly interrupted from his chase as he slams into an unsuspecting creature, his thin face coming into contact with the more bulky chest of his Lieutenant, Checkers. Stars cloud his vision as he stumbles backwards, the pigeon's alarm call fading off into the distant as it gets away unscathed. "Am.. Am I dead?" He mumbles stupidly, narrowing his eyes towards the two figures that stand in front of him. As his eyesight clears up, the hound's face contorts enthusiastically, "Checkers! Hi, hi.. I haven't seen you in so long!" He immediately tucks his tail and crawls submissively towards the Tamaskan, keeping his gaze respectfully averted. As he does so, he steals a look at the Gerbian Shepsky he finds terribly unfamiliar. Who is this girl? "I'm hunting for North! Wanna join me? We can bring North back SO much!"

Kade | Female | 4 years | Doberman Pinscher
Mentions: Roman
Location: Softcall Forest

Kade laughed a little, her voice too high-pitched before it became normal again. "I'm not sad because I killed him; I'd do it again for myself or any other female in that type of danger," she explained softly, accepting his touch. It had been a very long time since she'd so much as spoken to another dog and even longer since she'd cried, and now she didn't know what to do and some kind of fear consumed her that Roman would think she was terrible and disgusting even though that was completely irrational and she knew it.

But she held the tears at bay and drew herself up, all iron and steel, refusing to bend for the world. Kade nodded at his apology. "It isn't your fault," she whispered. "You didn't know, and now you do."

((Honestly, I don't know what to do with Proko right now so I'm probably gonna have him stumble across a small group in my next post.))

Inconnu | Genderless/Male | Basenji | 2yrs 8mnths
Location | Streets
Mentions | Skins & Butcher

Significantly cowed by the pale dog's accusation, he cowered close to the asphalt beneath his paws, tail shivering in the desire to tuck between his legs. Between the two, the female was almost more intimidating -- though the basenji had always been unnerved by any dog so long and thin, with their bones poking through the parchment of their skin. They were like living skeletons -- undead beings that rested one paw in the grave, but were reluctant to place the other. This female in particular was even more unnerving -- her clouded blue eyes, framed by a face so angular it seemed the ridges of bone would rival the fangs inside her maw, were blatantly blind, still piercing even as she stared... not quite at him. Breath rushing hastily in and out, his sides trembled as his gaze flickered frantically between the two dogs. He hadn't known that this was their territory -- he hadn't detected any scent markings, or hadn't cared to. Would they do anything to him...? What was he thinking, of course they would! The mental stability of any dog one came across was up for debate, and a smaller dog like him would either make a rather entertaining plaything, or a wholesome meal. Whatever the case, Inconnu wasn't planning on sticking around. Tongue swiping across his lips, he dropped his gaze, observing them only through the corner of his eye as he surreptitiously brushed his short fur against the cold metal behind him. Even if this dog retained something resembling sight, with any luck she would not react swiftly enough if he turned and fled -- and the male, father away, hopefully wouldn't make it in time, either. Still, something stayed his paws, and he waited, quivering readily until things turned truly south.

(Not particularly happy with this post, but I had a bit of a hard time figuring out how to take Ash out of the equation. :p Hopefully, my next post will be better than this.)
