Hallowed can be quite pretty with the right markings though, and I like the mix between Ice and Hallowed really. Like your king, he is pretty good looking with that mix ^^

I just got through adding a ton of markings to my king and now only have the maroon I had planned for him left to apply. I have a icy spice up for trade for either a maroon four or 50sb so hopefully I'll have my final marking soon. :)

That's alright I have no doubts that I'll be able to get one fairly soon. I've been lucky lately.

As for my king I'm trying to play on the markings he already had (Onyx Siamese and Celestial Shine) as well as his naturally dark tones in order to blend various markings so that it looks as if he has the night sky comprising his coat. Anyone who has looked up at the night sky in the country knows that it's not just a black space with pinpoints of light. It has many subtle colors and designs that range from white clouds to distant purple and blue hues from light refracting off ice crystals.

Just got an Ice base for my king! It kinda clashes with his mane so I'm hoping I can grab enough stink bugs to get a mane applicator before the event ends.

You might consider removing the back hair marking instead tabby. Brown can really pop against blue with the right markings. Just take Mourning Lily's king for example. Just a thought.

Another thing to consider is that maltese (or even silver manes) match pretty well with ice! They're both obtainable oasis mane colors. You can also throw in something like a white marking (white tips) or midnight to make the mane match with the ice base more. (Not the current brown, the maltese/silver I mean.)

Excellent point Clocks. The possibilities are vast and speaking from an artist's standpoint the ice base is exceptionally well suited as a clear clean canvas to work with.

Congrats Tabby! It is always so exciting the first time you get to snazzy up your rolled king and you definitely picked a lovely base :)

The Ice base is great as it tends to throw a lot of the black range - black, vandal, dikela, and slate (even a chance of celestial if bred with a celestial lioness). So when adding markings, base, etc, to your king, you always want to keep in the back of your mind that the colors you choose should not only flatter your king, but any possible likely offspring :)

One thing I like to do before adding any new markings is to go to the wardrobe and load my king. I add markings there to see what they look like, play with the layering of the markings to make sure I put the marking on the best possible layer. If I like the way they look on my king, I will change the gender and see how they look a female version of my king to make sure they mesh just as well. Sometimes I will switch out the base colors to what my lion is most likely to throw based on genetics to make sure those markings look well with those bases as well.

I got her along with 14 of her brothers and sisters for a total of 550 sb. As an adolescent she doesn't yet look like much but she will be glorious as an adult. The strange thing is that as a male her colors are too dull and completely overshadowed by her mane. I imagine that adding a little bit of white markings to the mane with lowered opacities would probably fix that issue but I personally think she looks better as a female.

Wow, jeez, did you get her as ice base or did you change her to that? Congrats, she looks great.

And yeah, agreed with Lily - when building a king, you'll want to check different bases/opacities etc to make sure that the cubs don't come out as horrible monstrosities (I mean, they might anyway, but it helps to do that). Usually I do markings at half opacity and maybe randomly get rid of half of them to see what a potential cub would look like. Or if I have cubs in my lair and I'm planning on changing a specific marking, I preview them with the new marking to see what they would have looked like if my king had had that marking instead and then sired them. Sometimes kings look amazing but when you cut down to 3 or 4 or 5 marks, the marks don't look that great together, and you don't want that to happen. :p

Thanks. She was actually sunflower and male originally. Her markings were not even visible on that base but I had a thought that maybe if her base was changed to something within the blue categories it might just make her worth having. :)
