I supported the thread back in March how Poacher's Chase was giving people headaches. This thread is located here.

Well now Fire Escape is here and I'm getting headaches from this game too and I'm not the only one. The poacher chase thread believed it was because of all the moving layers and I'm just going to copy what they wrote about it.

"After playing it again with all the suggestions in mind I've realized it's not really the lack of noticeability in the obstacles but rather the parallax of the game. The multiple elements of the foreground and background that move at different speeds are causing some people to experience headaches/vertigo/dizziness/sickness/etc after the 1k mark. Though none of the effects so far are long lasting they're still not great!

A possible way to fix this could be just to have a static image for both the foreground and background, so the only thing moving in the game would be the lion and the obstacles it jumps over. This wouldn't affect gameplay as things will still speed up as you progress and the jumping over obstacles mechanic won't change at all.

Another suggestion would be instead of having all parallaxing stop, have less! Such as maybe JUST ONE foreground, the area the lion runs on, and background element instead of the current 2 elements of foreground, the ground the lion runs on, and 4 elements in the background all moving at different speeds at the same time (I don't think those numbers are accurate but you get the point XD)

I know not everyone is experiencing these side-effects so I'm not suggesting to change the entire game this way, but instead have an option to toggle the parallax on or off before you start the game! And maybe have it remember your settings so if you die and want to restart you don't have to choose it every time. "

Thank you TeaLeo (#85636) for that!

Now can you please do something about fire escape so people can play it without getting headaches?

EDIT: Fire escape now has a toggle to reduce movement. Thank you so much Micheal!

This suggestion has 113 supports and 5 NO supports.

I don't have any major problems from the game personally (except that I suck at it XD ) but I do sometimes get slightly fuzzy vision from it and I could see how that could be a real problem in someone more sensitive to it.

I therefore strongly support the suggestion. I think all they'd have to do would be take out the moving foreground?

^ the moving foreground is the only part that causes issues for me, it might be different for others though so idk >< a toggle on/off switch for it would be nice!

i love the idea of a toggle! like just a thing that you could select that would change the same to like... "simple" mode or something where the layers of the background didnt move as much or not at all. accessible to everyone and people who don't get the headaches can still play it just the same as before.

I definitely support this because I have bad eye sight as it is.
And a seizure disorder that is triggered heavily by my eyes losing focus and how fast the game paces.
Like I like the game but I have to be very careful and stop when it gets too bad on my eyes.
I also want those dry bones because we all know what those are for >:U

Hey! New player over here.
I had no problems until the 3.000 mark.
Today was the frst time I got over that mark, I played til 14.000 something and was really happy about it, until the game stopped and I felt really ill for some minutes.
Support!

Earlier the screen was wavy after a score of 6.3k. Then I got a minor migraine which, as they always do, made me throw up.

I support this because the game gives ME eye strain (and would probably give me headaches as well, but I have slow reflexes so my scores tend to be in the 1-3k range) and I'm not someone who has migraines, epilepsy or motion sickness issues.

I would also like to suggest that, in future, Lioden put an epilepsy and migraine warning on games like this, so people who have those conditions are aware of which games are potential triggers. At this point, Lioden is the only site I play on that has Flash-type games and does NOT have such a warning on either the games page or the games themselves. (Most sites at least have a warning on the games page.)

Full support, even if this game didn't give me headaches, I'd still want it fixed. This is an issue which affects the userbase and should be fixed. Saying "just don't play it" totally removes a significant portion of the userbase from being able to play the game the way they want.

Fully and completely support.
"Just don't play it" is such a baffling response to me...this is an accessibility issue. If someone complained about the lack of an accessible entrance at a business would your response be "just don't go there"?

strongly support! the paralax makes for a neat aesthetic but is very hard on the eyes for the kind of game it is :'< offering a toggle to turn off the effect & warning would be a much appreciated adjustment!

suggesting that people "just don't play it" if it gives them migraines, eye strain, etc isn't much of a solution. yes, it's an optional mini-game, but /everything/ on Lioden is optional. it only seems reasonable that changes are made to make the game more accessible to those who want to play it!

someone in main chat pointed this out but you should add an edit to this saying it needs an epileptic warning for the game please
